Been yo-yoing for 12 years and reinventing my tricks is something I'm currently doing. The strangest thing to me is going back to watching yoyo tutorials after being a trick innovator in my country during my era. Clearing the slate and starting fresh is a little daunting but I'm finding it to be a fun adventure
I personally hate long strings too just because of these aspects: 1. Having a long time catching a yoyo 2. High possibility to ding a yoyo if you made mistakes 3. And lastly, so hard to control when doing tricks! Great video Brandon! I'm looking forward for Vlog 127
How long the string to be in actual? Like for me my current yoyo string is two finger below my belly button and I feel discomfort doing tricks like skin the gerbil, Triple or nothing etc.

Hey Brandon! I have always wondered about the long string vs shirt string positives and negatives and I am finding myself choosing a longer string more often. However it does limit horizontal tricks like you mentioned! Do you think most competitive players have to find an equilibrium when it comes to string length so they can do every kind of trick relatively well, or do you think they chose length based on what kind of tricks they personally do?? Thanks!
I think string length is trending longer. So most players sacrifice a bit of control from horizontal to lengthen the tricks. That's just what I've observed.

A proportional string length is the best overall, you get the best of both worlds, I go from the centre of my chest to the tips of my fingers and it works great for me. Tip for beginners, please experiment with what works for you and be open minded to any alternatives

Hey Brandon I bought a variant and its been fine so far but today I unscrewed it multiple times cause it got tangled and now it kinda sounds louder so im not sure if I screwed it on wrong or if that caused the bearing to start to break
Can someone please help I have the ascent but whenever I put the konkave bearing on its toog big for the yoyo to screw together so can someone please help
being extremely short at 5'6 makes yoyoing much harder, i have to use a long string (long for me) to be able to do my tricks without running out of string, and the yoyo often hits the ground

I totally agree I hate long string I normally use the length from floor to about 2 inches above my belly button. But if I want to do whip or slacks I make it longer. Anyway your still killing it main man #Vucrew4Life🪀
Long string looks so good for slacks, but I'm just naturally disliked long string. I feel out control. And shorter string always hit the mark for me. So yes, shorter strings for me!
for horizontal and speed combos, try soft shortening the string (wrapping the string around the last three finger of your th to make the overall string shorter). it really helps make things more manageable and faster as well.
Lol I m so indecisive about my string lengths that I have 3 different lengths for 1a lmao. Hard agree on how the meta changed, very few people manage to stay on top for such a long time. Its basically spamming hooks and big zoning tricks these days.
