Just stumbled onto your channel. Like it alot. I've come across Curated's reviews and have always been amused at how beginner- intermediate skiers can accurately assess a skis chacteristics. They're not flexing the ski b/c they're not linking turns, angulating, absorbing/ extending in the bumps and so on. Basic fundamentals required for carving, pivoting, quick weight transfer, and control. I grew up skiing at the Loaf and ski for work in the Whites. My daily driver is a 2016 Faction Prodigy 2.0-- before they switched to a straight poplar core. It is a blend of that with beech so while not crazy stiff with Ti, it holds an edge at speed in longer turns but is nimble, light, and agile for short turns. Funny-- I only discovered them on a trip to Vars FR... had the 2012 Blizzard Brahmas and while those were great skis, I wanted to try something a bit lighter and more playful. I told the guy I just wanted a good freeride ski and the black Prodigys is what I demoed in a 178. Riding up the lift, I'm thinking these things are too wide to turn quick and will feel glommy. Grew up in the late 70's and 80's skiing Rossi FP's, Volkl P9 SL's, Dynastar Verticals all straight and all over your forehead. Boy, was I wrong. I loved them in bumps, steep and smooth short swing turns and railing on groomers. They do chatter a tad in certain applications but it's manageable. When I got back to the States, I bought 2 pairs. I've found with todays profiles, materials, sidecuts, you don't necessarily need metal for high performance. Those Prodigys aren't noodles, but a far cry from the brahmas regardless of width difference. They're wider but just as quick. When the time comes to pull the trigger on a new, different ski, I'm leaning toward the new Blizzard Rustler 9.

Very Cool, thank you for sharing! I've skied many times at Sugarloaf while Racing but never heard it called "the loaf" I will definitely be using that! I will keep an eye out for those skis for sure this season, thanks for the recommendation. I had a very similar the first time skiing on the Atomic Vantages, especially with the Horizon tip I thought, how can a ski shaped like a boat rip? But sure enough once you get a taste for it, it's amazing how well modern skis can Shred!
Cheers to you, and thanks for your comment and for watching!

@@RicketySkiReviews No problem... just subscribed. That makes 2 of us. You've never heard of Sugarloaf abbreviated and I've never heard of Rocker as "Horizon Tip." Call it these things or early rise, the end result is less effective edge which is ok so long as you compensate with additional length. I had a pair of 2013 Atomic Theories which I got in a 168. Should've gone longer. When I got the Brahmas, I went with a 173 though b/c those had a straighter profile and narrower. The Prodigys by contrast have more rocker, so went with the 178. Anyhow, you might not be overly impressed with the new 2.0 Prodigys. I passed on these b/c they removed hardwood from the core. If you're going to forgo metal, the ski should have some hardwood like beech or ash to stiffen up the Balsa/ Poplar. The thing that makes the new Rustler 9's interesting compared to last years is a) true blend core and b) design of the Titanium sheet. Last year, it was a solid plate under foot that tapered as a single piece fore and aft. This year, they tweaked it by having the solid piece under foot and 2 separate razor thin strips along the edge fore and aft of center. Supposedly, this creates a more even flex pattern. Skiessentials has a good review of this. I'm pretty partial to mid 90's under foot-- strikes a good balance for short/ long turns and varying conditions.

First time seeing your stuff but I like your style. :)
I’m actually trolling around for some powder skis, probably going to pick some up sometime in August. 6’0” 190 lb male, moving to the mountains in Colorado in 10 days and need some powder skis. Bought Masterblasters (181cm) from J Skis going into last season and had a lot fun with them for the 28 days I got on the hill. Been thinking of Bent 110s, thought about Icelantic but they’re tough to find reviews on, any other thoughts or recs? Would love to hear any in your next video. :)

I wasn't the biggest fan of the Bent's, but it was my first review so I will probably revisit, I much prefer their Maverick series , but granted that caps out at 100 width. The skis I loved and would recommend in the powder and what I actually spent my own money on were the Salomon Qsts 106's.
I reviewed the Qst 98's Video Here: ua-cam.com/video/EQfNdAGt1KU/v-deo.html
You can also see my ski of the year picks here (and what I actually spent my money on:
      ua-cam.com/video/AOrxHVJoKLA/v-deo.html
I would say there are some great options out there though, I loved the Fischer Rangers as well see here: ua-cam.com/video/azenuYqM6LE/v-deo.html
If you're set on the Bent, you may really love them, but I was set on buying them myself and was glad that I demoed them before purchasing, because they felt like wet noodles to me. Just my 2 cents, hope that helps! Thanks for Watching!

Hey man. I like the different views you offer. However, I actually worked with Thomas last season. He was super helpful and steered me to the M-99’s, which I absolutely love. Perfect fit for what I was looking for. And, he grew near me in Northern California and l now lives in Montana. Just my two cents.

No hate towards the people working at curated, I just think some of the things said in the videos were off base, and I think Curated over sells the "Expert" Status on a lot of skiers. No hate towards Thomas personally though, I'm sure he's a cool dude just trying to help people.

There is no place in North America where a skier would say 'it was only a foot of fresh, I'm not sure it was worth going up'.
OK, maybe if temps were in the low single digits *AND* the surface underneath was bulletproof ice.

Totally, it never happened, please don't look into it further the lift lines are long enough as it is. Haha. I guess it could have been an exaggeration but I do know we had a record breaking season. Their mountain in particular got 252 inches of total annual snow fall for the 22/23 winter.

@RicketySkiReviews spent a few hours talking to them, answering all the common questions, and they were the most recommended for my area. Found an awesome ski shop and sat with the owner almost all day going over every ski that fit what I like to do, he talks about skis the way you do with the good, bad, and ugly. Settled on the stance 80, seemed to be the best choice for what I wanted/ needed, now I just need snow

    • @RicketySkiReviews
      @RicketySkiReviews  Рік тому +1

Oh that's great! The stance is actually on the top of my list to demo this year. I tried them out in France for just a day, and I was pretty impressed with the little bit of skiing I got to do on them.

First of all.. I broke my arm while demoing the QST 106s.. I saw Jesus and he is doing fine;) The day that I was on them was during Spring Break and we got 3-6 inches.. The thing with those skis is they had a 21 meter turn radius for the 188 length that I was on.. I know the newer skis have a shorter turn radius.. The skis would go through anything.. The problem was that I couldn't.. I was going from the top of Peak 6 to the bottom of Peak 8 in BRECK.. I accidentally went into some moguls and trees.. I happened to come out of the binding on the top of a mogul and Jesus was waiting for me at the next mogul;) Great floaty cruising skis but a ton of work making short quick turns..
As far as buying skis goes... Since I moved to Denver on April 2nd 2021 I have bought 4 pairs of GoodWill skis and 5 pairs of skis from the Dealers.. I traded in (and lost my @$$) a pair of 2021 Kastle FX 96 HP for a pair of 2023 Nordica Enforcer Free.. My groomer ski is a 2016 Stockli Stormrider 88.. I love this ski but it sucks in the crud/slush/powder.. I did buy a pair of 2019 Stockli Stormrider 105s and I might have only skied on them 2 times.. I didn't want to wreck them at the end of the season.. I love those skis too.. I have a pair of 2021 DPS Foundation RP 100s.. The weird thing about these skis is that I crossed the tails and that is the first time that I have ever done that.. I know your feelings about the Nordica Enforcers but my 104 Frees are great when the snow is turning from ice to slush.. The other thing about those skis which I will compare to the QST 106 is that the ski will go through anything.. I just won't.. I have to watch being overconfident with them..
The other thing for me to consider is that being in the city sucks during the summer.. I kind of want to buy an ebike.. I do want to go to BRECK sometime in the summer and just walk/hike the bike/walking paths..
I used to race over 20 years ago and I still have my last pair of race skis.. They are 70 under foot and 170 long.. They still got it.. Early season when only 1 run is open I will probably use them because they turn so fast and it is so easy to get on and off the edges.. It is a lot of work but I would rather be able to turn than to be on all of my other cruisers and risk running into someone..
My Kastle skis that I traded for Enforcers were way too reactive for me.. I have many stories that I could tell but the one that I will say is that I was skiing on them on one of those really cold days that the snow gets sticky.. I went down a run that there weren't any tracks on.. I kept feeling the skis grabbing and me wanting to go head over heals.. When I got to the headwall I tried jump turning.. When I jumped on the skis it was like jumping on a trampoline and I flipped head over heals.. I want the ski to be able to support the landing..

Woah! Thanks for sharing. Yeah, this is my first year buying "new" skis, I've been running ski swap and FB marketplace deals for the last 10 years, but people have lost their minds with asking prices, so better for me to just get new skis with last years top sheets and save myself from haggling. I wish I still had my race skis! A couple of cross country moves thinned me out, and no one wanted to buy my 193 Rossi GS skis so they were donated to a local race program lmao.

Also I didn't like the Nordica Enforcer 100, maybe the Free's are better! I just wanted some pop, and the 100's were so flat and over hyped!
