I remember Barnes and Barnes and Damaskas from Dr. Demento in the 80s. Both were cool and responded to my letters. This brings back so many memories, I love it!
I remember the first night this aired on Dr. Demento. I actually recorded it on cassette. My life was never the same after that show. I started sending in tapes of songs I had written. He sent them back. Bummer, However, he sent back a hand written note with ideas on how to increase the quality of the recordings for airplay. That was truly special to me. Very special time in radio and Barnes and Barnes were there in the middle of it. Well done lads.
I like how they literally stop the song at the end in the original version apologize to Lennon and McCartney for playing around with their song. Thanks for bringing this up. Yeah.
I'm a songwriter and am amazed at the skill presented the song "making love in a Subaru". I have that song on my Ipod. It's amazing. I have so many questions, is that him playing the piano? Did he write that song? I"ve been searching for a song he did "MOR" I think is the name. That song is genius too. He rhymed cantelope with Manilow. What does he look like. What is he up to? What were his inspirations? If you have these answers get them back to me. Please
Wow it looks like I picked a good one. I started this whole Green Acres thing by trying to suggested to Randy rainbow. and then somebody else put together the cool picture of them all sitting in their truck and now it's taken off woohoo!
I know this is dumb of me to be responding to a decade old comment but I’m doing it anyway lol. Damaskas was an assistant on the dr Demento show. Making songs on the show through the late 70s till the early 80s. He’s in fact still alive he’s just stopped doing music and is very negative about his past work. You can find photos of him on his discogs
I love the video clips on this version. And the song is great! But the first time I heard this was on Dr. Demento. So here, we miss the statement "we'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to John Lennon and Paul Mccartney. Were sorry." then the long piano chord. For that, we can click on the picture of the single/
I co-produced and sing on this thing.....Was a fun day in 1978 when we made this. Good times, my friends. Glad u like it--
I don’t imagine you envisioned leaving a comment on your work on a video share site when you wrote this.
@@HubertofLiege No. Impossible to know that would happen, 43 years later..
@@rtbarnes4893 yeah, just funny how life goes.
Nice to see you here. This is brilliant.
Are you the first Barnes in Barnes & Barnes, or the second?
More Arnold playing piano!!!
This has been a FILMWAYS presentation, dahling.
Oh this is just wicked. wickedly good

Thnx! The internet is so cool. Thank you for Fish Heads. Don't get me started on how crazy brilliant that tune is. Also on my ipod.
Okay, that's it - my mind is now officially BLOWN.
Oh no, I’m in that weird part of youtube again.

Classic!!!!!
I can't believe I've never heard this or seen this video. Love B&B and have enjoyed their stuff on Dr. D's shows. You guys are Da Bomb!!
Green Acres is existential enough.
I like the part with the pig playing piano. That's amazing!
This is great!

Wow, man, I'm humbled!! ^°o°^

How bizarre. I do a version of this in my act. I knew I'd heard it somewhere years and years ago but I never knew who it was! Now I know!
Yes, I agree. That and "Clip Clop" by them would be great, along with "Linoleum".
dOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON dAMASCUS? is he still alive what's he up to? What does he look like?

@@Grouchomarxfamilyguy That sucks about his negative view. This stuff is great!
The Accursed J.E. IKR? It would be great for him and Barnes & Barnes to do a reunion collab or something since the duo is still making music
@@Grouchomarxfamilyguy That I didn't know! I got the fish head song stuck in my head and now I'm here exploring their other works.
The Accursed J.E. Yeah they released a Christmas album in 2018 called Holidaze in Lumania and are planning to release more which is great news!
OH MY ....
I have this 45rpm

Their apology is quoted in the description. There's also an attribution for the cornfield, courtesy of Anthony Freemont.
Demented. Just. Plain. Demented!
Just about as weird as the actual show.
Should be writing for SNL or something, good imagination.
Say, this looks kind of familiar...
Just thought I would leave you some positive feedback on your own video. Nice work.
It was NEVER sex, drugs or rock and roll that caused the insanity…
…it was TV all along!!!
Way better than the beatles! Seriously.
freakin eh, i feel like i just did acid! haha trippy!
lmao.
65 years old and I just heard this now. What a waste of my life.
Thanks! :)
Thanks! :)
