Firefighter died in the line of duty while battling a house fire on Emerson Avenue in Plainfield

PLAINFIELD, NJ - A firefighter died in the line of duty while battling a fire in Plainfield Friday morning
Plainfield firefighter Marques Hudson was killed in a fire at a home on Emerson Avenue, around 8:15 a.m.
according to Plainfield Mayor Adrian Mapp. Hudson either fell down the stairs or fell through the floor, the mayor said. Four other firefighters went inside to rescue Hudson, but doctors were unable to save him at a hospital.
The exact circumstances surrounding Hudson’s death are still under investigation.
The cause of the fire is also being investigated.
