The revelation that the false backstory was actually the real backstory is one of the most f*cked things to be revealed about our Rick, bro just can't catch a break
He probably knew the machine he was in needed a baseline to make them believe he was telling the truth, only to lie at the end with the equation to override the machine.
Honestly when I first saw the "fake" backstory episode, I kinda assumed it wasn't fake. It's such a typical Rick move. He only told that one Galactic detective because he knew dude wasn't getting out.

Something I just realized. Evil Rick wanted to “give” him the technology. Meaning he didn’t want him to figure out how to make it on his own. I think his motivation is he wants to be the supreme Rick and he doesn’t want any other version of himself to surpass his intellect.
Rick prime created the strongest force in the universe, a person with not a god damn thing to lose. Rick C-137 never even had his own Morty, just nothing for a long time.
He had a quest for blood, that's one thing he did have.
Thats why C-137 cares about his Morty so much, it's HIS Morty, he bonded with him

I think it's interesting that when Prime says "Ricks don't pass on this. What kind of Rick are you?" And C-137 says "a different kind of Rick, I guess." Like he is still very Rick in the sense that he's different and is going his own way, but intelligent enough to know that he is not the only Rick, and immediately accepts the reality in front of him

I love how the creators of Rick and Morty are obviously fans of the 90s show Sliders. This whole set up and interaction is similar to the pilot episode.
There was a council of Kangs that joined forces to fuck with the timeline together and then the Kangest Kang killed them all. IDK if that's all they lifted lol.
@@ryuli1 ever listened to LoveLine with Adam Carrola and Dr Drew? As early as 2012 mybe earlier. There are several eps where Adam is talking about training crow to do his bidding. Maybe that’s where they got the idea for Rick to have attack crows.

Wow. I Just realized that the reason Rick struggled with fixing the portal gun is because he wasn’t the Rick to initially create it.
I assumed he would have eventually figured it out due to using it over and over again and replenishing portal fluid etc.
Several times he’s had to fix it throughout the show if I’m not mistaken.
I think he put off fixing portal travel because at some point he got really traumatized by the fact that he had no control over the situation created by “evil Morty”.
That’s just my two cents I could be misinterpreting.

Our Rick is the only Rick besides Rick Prime to build the Portal Gun on their own. Rick Prime gave the technology to all the other Ricks, but our Rick made his own, which is why *his* original is a makeshift PG.
C137 Rick was directly responsible for the Central Finite Curve. Which limits portal travel to a smaller number of infinite universes. It was never a barrier to keep things smarter then Rick out. It was to keep the smartest Ricks in, so he can better hunt Rick Prime
This hits so much harder now. For now we know Rick Prime was the first Rick to invent interdimentional travel. But when our Rick turned him down, he felt insulted. Which is why he killed his Diane and Beth. But then used the Omega device to eliminate Diane from the Multiverse itself.
C-137 Rick was a different kind of Rick and Rick Prime couldn't handle that.

I think this is the bootstrap paradox. The more I think about it, I think Evil Rick needs our Rick to invent the portal gun as paradox. Maybe our Rick is the “first” to invent it, creating a multiverse where there are other realities that exist before that creation point.
So Evil Rick needs our Rick to create the portal technology that he is using. I’d that make sense

Did anyone notice in this scene he is talking about Central Finite Curve not teleportation. That's why he specifically shows green portal which is Central Finite Curve's portal color that we know because when evil morty escaped Central Finite Curve his portal became yellow. And if you pay attention to conversation Rick Prime says he will invent something that will make him the smartest man in the whole universe which is again Central Finite Curve's whole purpose.
I am thinking about this now i have gone back and i think i have realized that prime rick was trying to maybe recruit c 137 because maybe prime rick has time travel and knows how powerful c 137 will be so he wants to work with him.

Though that line implies most Rick's never invented portal travel and just accepted Rick Primes offer. With the exception of Rick Prime only C-137 for a time actually invented portal travel on their own.

I like how our Ricks skin reflects his mental state. He’s happy and healthy, while Rick Prime antagonizes his happiness, he’s unhappy and that’s why he looks dead inside.
This leaves us with an important question: Why is Rick Prime so determined to have our Rick embrace traveling the multiverse, as opposed to raising a family? What if Rick Prime wasn't the perpetrator responsible, but hired a hitman, or was simply taking orders from a much more dangerous Rick, Morty, Jerry, or someone else?
Possibly, but Rick Prime is the first Rick to create portal tech, hence why he is spreading it.
It is possible he is worried that C-137 can outclass him (which he arguably does) but it is far more likely that Prime just collects each Rick he can and gives them the tech to make them join.
It just so happens that C-137 is "A different kind of Rick", something Prime never could have expected

C-137 very much did cripple portal travel as a result of making the Curve and the Citadel, he gave them what looked like a blessing but was really a weapon for him to use.
Also, every Rick does learn how to make teleportation and then after portals, they were just gifted the guns by Prime to Kickstart the process.

Nah, Prime is just extremely cocky. Rick Prime is also the only Rick (other than C-137) that isn't a part of the Citadel, he is the "Rickest Rick" in the sense that he was the first.
This is the point where the show had the choice to either become iconic, or just the same as everything it was making fun of, that they actually committed to this surface level backstory is so tragic. If anything the show’s rick should reveal that he’s the one who kills this simple rick lookinass, the personalities don’t correlate

Here is my question why was he so interested our Rick C-137 out of everyone else i know he said he was with the council but we physically never see him or hear about him from the council . So it makes me wonder why he talked to rick.
Rick Prime created portal tech, he was the first Rick. C-137 (our Rick) created the Citadel and the Central Finite Curve to cage in Rick Prime.
Rick Prime (as far as we know) never once went to or intereacted with the Citadel, unless he was disguised and snuck in to get recon.
The council agreed to let C-137 go on his quest for revenge and leave him alone if he stopped killing infinite Ricks.
Thats why C-137 created it, to catalogue every Rick in the curve and to make his hunt easier.

As a result, Prime retaliated against C-137. He chose his family over science, so Prime took his family away so the only option he had was science.
Now, was that so no Rick could surpass him, or to keep them under his thumb, or have a strong ally for the future? Who knows, but what is clear was that C-137 wasn't like EVERY other Rick and not only chose his family but rose above all Ricks other than Prime.
Plus the only reason he didn't rise above Prime is because he spent the 30-40 years hiding from C-137. A twisted game of cat and mouse if you will, with C-137 killing every other Rick he could find.
This is all before the Citadel was made, and again, C-137 made the Citadel. So this means that not only was Prime not a part of it, but it isn't possible for him to be a part of it, he was hiding/running from C-137.
We don't know where he was hiding, but we do know that C-137 did everything he could to find him and used Morty as bait/a cloak to get him to come back or try to kill him.
The Citadel was created to find Prime and make a "catalogue" of every Rick in the Curve so C-137 could find Prime and kill him.

Prime just didn't expect that a Rick that chose to give up science would become the most powerful of them all because of the rage/revenge.

My theory is that prime rick is actually way into the future and time traveled to this rick since if hes from the same time, he also couldnt invent portal travel yet. Which might also explain why he couldnt be found because our rick doesnt fk with time travel. He also may have found some way to reverse his aging hense why hes still young in solar rick and "used" to have a partner aka his morty that died of old age. Im theorizing when rick reset the portal fluids, it brought prime rick from his future into this cronengburg timeline and classified it as his original timeline. It would also explain why hes wondering why hes in croneburg world when speaking to jerry.
That theory makes a lot more sense taking it into consideration, obviously, rick prime's instant regeneration would suggest he's superior to C137 in terms of technology and advancements too as we've seen C137 mortally wounded tons of times and not promptly healed. (Look Whos Purging, ABCs of Beth, etc).
Not sure where you got Rick Prime's partner Morty, "dying of old age" though, where did you hear this? As far as I know, our current Morty is Rick Prime's only (original) family left.

We no this is false because Morty is from the same universe. Morty is the correct age he could be.
Unless possibly C-137 is the one from the future, but that doesn't make sense because Beth died as a child when she was supposed to.
This theory just completely falls apart unfortunately.
Now, Rick being an aged up Morty has a leg to stand on.
In the Anime Tokyo mini episode we find out that Morty does indeed turn into Rick in the future.
How close to the actual Canon that is is up for debate however, but there is the possibility that it is actually accurate.
@@eggsmeister I would chalk the wounds up to C-137 being cocky and a masochist. Prime likely would take all chance out of every equation, he isn't depressed and torn over losing his family like C-137 is. Our Rick has a conscious and a soul, we see him sacrifice his life for Morty multiple times without hesitation.
Rick Prime isn't like that, he doesn't care about anything or anyone, just wants death and chaos.
Why wouldn't he do everything he can to survive? He has everything to lose, our Rick feels he is worthless and has nothing to lose.
