Edit: if you get the FS0penFile error, the SD card isnt set up or formated properly. Even if its fat32 it has to be setup as MBR to be recognized, heres a fix: Download the tool Rufus (link in description), you select the SD card, set it to non-bootable + fat32 + MBR, then format and move the files over. If you want to see this in action, I've covered it when setting up flash-drives in some of my later PlayStation 3 HDD+SSD Upgrade videos. Good luck!

I remember years ago when Brain Age was the best selling game on the Wii U eShop since having a DS game was the easiest way to mod one at the time, and brain age was slightly cheaper than the other ds titles
It wasn’t that long ago actually, I think it was still at the top of the best selling list like last year. It really stood on the top for a while there.

I’ve tried using the wiiuexploit method to work, but every time I tried, the whole system would freeze up. I looked up how it works, and it says that getting this exploit is entirely luck based, which is BULLSHIT, because these modding tutorials skip right past the exploit like it’s nothing! What the HELL!

I love how this guy always links to the websites that he use cuz a lot of people who will tell you how to hack it would just show you how to hack and put the files in the description or something like that. But with him he always tells you where he's getting his information because information on hacking a Wii u changes very fast

Don’t forget to dump your nand first, Wii U have a lot of brick issue. If you have a white wii you should have at least 16GB of free storage in your SD and if you have a black Wii U you’ll need a 64GB SD card. :)

NAND dumps are great but do note when you do this.. and you actually need this NAND backup.. you better know someone who’s able to work with electronics because it’s not simple to restore a nand and it requires hard modding.

Does the Homebrew Launcher get installed on the Wii Menu on the Wii U? Cause I am wondering about that one. Also...it doesn't matter what GB size the SD Card is?
The Homebrew Launcher is installed alongside the Mii Maker, I unfortunately forgot to show this off at the end 😅 we'll be adding a dedicated launcher in part two, stay tuned! 😁👍
As for the SD card, it doesn't matter as long as it can fit everything on it 😎👍 I used a 4gb, though the site recommends 32gb

When you download games they have to be put on the SD card and then into the Wii U with a Flash Drive connected, then transfer the game to the FD right?

Guys there is a newer thing called aroma that doesn’t have homebrew launcher it just gives the homebrew apps in Wii U menu instead

How did you launch the screen to get to the installer?

Hi! I've been trying to mod my Wii U and I wanted to play COD Black Ops 1 but ever since the servers shut down, I can't even play against bots (It said "Error 23400" upon trying to connect). I've seen people with a homebrewed Wii somehow got it to work but I legitimately do not know if it will work the same for the Wii U. Please send help I do not want to brick my Wii U
Is there any reason you couldn't use a USB stick instead of an SD card?

Most is done on the gamepad. You can do all of it on there though.

I've lost count of the number of systems I've modded over the years without issues, but that doesn't mean it's not impossible for something to go wrong. As long as you follow every step in the written guide, you shouldn't have any problems, just take your time and everything should go well! 👍

It didn't work at the "Run exploit" Part, it shows me an error message "PSOpenfile failed. File missing /vol/external/wiiu/payload.elf" Fix it.
Google that error message, the first link explains the problem well. The SD card is likely not formatted correctly, check out my PS3 HDD upgrade video for the best tool to solve this issue

I keep getting the fsopenfile failed
I had the same issue, here is how I fixed it. I originally had my SD card set up as (SD)-(EnvironmentLoader)-(WiiU)-(apps).
When in actuality it’s supposed to be (SD)-(WiiU)-(apps). You have to copy everything inside of the environmentLoader folder to the root of the SD card, don’t copy the environmentLoader folder itself.

no- you need an SD card. The Wii U won’t let you access a hard drive to mod it. BUT.. if you install games you can use that hard drive to do so.
Is there anyway you can help me out I did a different method and then had to do this one aswell but there’s files in my se card that don’t really need to be there anymore how can I tell which ones I can delete

You need to format the SD card in Fat32, as well as making sure to configure it as MBR, the tool Rufus can help you with this. Check out some of my other videos to learn how to use it 😎👍

I just modded my Wii U, and it was working for a minute and I turned it off to add some apps, and when I turned it back on I keep getting FSgetmountsource failed message, and I’ve tried every fix that I’ve been able to find and it still does it. Any suggestions?

That's basically telling you it can't find the payload file on the SD card, so there's a good chance that there's an issue with either the formatting of the SD card or the expected file structure of the SD card. I would start up Rufus, set it to Non-bootable + fat32 + MBR (setting MBR is critical!) and then move the files to the SD card again. It also wouldn't hurt to open the Windows Disk Manager and make sure you only have the fat32 partition. I hope this gets you going in the right direction, good luck! 😁👍
Side note: not mean at all! You ran into an issue and asked very politely for a solution, no biggy! AND YOU EVEN PROVIDED AN ERROR CODE, THATS AWESOME!! 🤯 Life hack though: if you put the error code in Google plus the name of the game system (or device / OS) you're working with, 9 out of 10 times you'll find an answer. It's how I worked my way through many an error over the years haha
