Hi! Thank you for a great and informative video. I just was left thinking how do you disassembly those bushings and also how to assembly new ones? With a press or what? Thanks
Hi Gary Ferraro. I am from South Africa and I like your videos. I drive BMW E90 LCI 320d 2011/06 model. I have hit the speed bump on December 2021and had a CCID Code 420 (Transmission Malfunction). I have experienced the following codes 004HP85, 004HP89,004HP8A,004HP95 and 004HP82 on August 2023. I have replaced transmission oil using 6 liters of Liqui Molly 1800 I could find ZF6 Lifeguard oil after 268376km. Recently an Autel MK808KS scanner shows 004HP82 and 004HP85. What could be the real damage on the transmission?
Hi Gary. While doing the service on a similar box I noticed few chunks of debris in the fluid pan along with smaller flakes sticking around the valvebody appear to be disintegrated rubber. Not sure where the source is. could it be the rubber strips in the separator plate or have you seen a similar issue? Box has around 80k miles fluid was dark but not too much clutch wear material. Thanks
@@GaryFerraro they certainly don't look like clutch wear material. Chunks look solid but collapse once pressed something like a overheated rubber oring gasket or I suspect smaller ones possibly from separator plate? Just want to know if I need to urgently open up the valvebody and rebuild it before it ruins the rest.
@@GaryFerraro Thanks Gary. Looking at Transgo and Sonnax rebuild kits it seems Sonnax zip kit includes quite few more pieces however I see you use Transgo. Are those extra Sonnax bits not much of use? Cheers
Thanks for the videos Gary. Just wondering if the torque converters actually go bad on 6hp19s or they just get rebuilt anyway as part of the rebuild routine? Also what is the maximum fluid temp we should see before suspecting overheating? Cheers
@GaryFerraro thanks Gary. Any idea if 6hp19 and 21 internals eg drums, pump etc are the same? I have a 21 core which thinking of keeping in case my running 19 needs parts later. I know clutch packs are different however not sure of other internal bits. Cheers

Hi Gary, Appreciate all the information in your videos. I have a 2007 BMW 335i that I have owed since it was new. Lately I have been having drivability issue related to the transmission. I have no codes hard and rough shifts. I am thinking of doing a complete valve body rebuild. I have seen in your videos you replace the dampers and use a zip kit. Hello, thank you so much. Those information are really precious for the understanding the 6hp gearbox. I have a similar issue. Fault code 4f87- 1 to 2 gear ratio. I changed all seals related to mechatronic, the separator plate and solenoids. Do yo have any idea of the cause of this?
Thank you very much for your time and investigation. I'll have it replaced and will send feedback. Did what you recommended and the car is running fine. Thank you very much for your help.
I have mounted a rebuilt and stiffened torque OEM torque converter in my ZF 6HP 19 and it shudders a bit, especially between 1000 - 1500 rpm, when it changes gears ... can this be normal and not to worry about? Also, is it true that an upgraded/stiffened torque converter can damage the mechatronic valve body (to wear out prematurely)?
