However I didn't make the live stream missed it about 40 minutes due to work hours for me. I have checked out many Japanese live streamers and suscribed to them all. Paul from tokyo, with me and totally drew.
This is 10/10 better than a podcast
Even when these streams are choppy, they're still almost meditative. Norm's calm voice, the early mornings, the quiet rural locales, and all of the stop-and-smell-the-roses moments are really soothing. They're like the opposite of "doom scrolling" through a bleak newsfeed.
That place to me looks like paradise. That’d be a dream place to live for me.
If you ever started a travel agency in Japan, providing tours, you'd be INSANELY popular! And you'd make money! Do eeet, Norm, do it!

I'm from Chile but look like I was from the US or Europe, and the funniest thing that happened is that I went into a restaurant and a couple at a table next to mine said "hi" in English as I was sitting down, and then continued speaking, in Chilean Spanish, and after a couple seconds I said in Spanish, without looking at them "So, seems we're everywhere now...", their wide open eyes were hilarious hahaha, we spent our whole lunch time talking and sharing anecdotes.

Sorry you had to wake up so early but thank you for the morning walk, Norm. The problem with some AI is the way they are being fed (particularly the image generator AIs which are being build over the work of artists that are not receiving any royalties for it). But in any case AIs are a tool and as a tool they will be what we make of them. IMHO what you did was something fun and imaginative.

this is the Japan I want to see. not the cities, but the stunning country. planning for me to go to Japan will probably take years, I want to start at one end and with a rented camper travel the length of the country. unfortunately I have some dietary restrictions and from what I know about Japan we aren't very comparable 😂 hopefully when I've finished my planning and saved enough money this will have changed. In the meantime I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through Norm!

Caught up with the 2nd half of the stream. I found it interesting that the vending machine was done up in brown to go with the buildings around so it doesn't stick out. And I think the same went for that hydrant! In any case, I am hoping to add this to my itinerary the next time I am able to visit Japan. Maybe 2024? *fingers crossed*

Thanks for the amazing video! I rarely get to see live streams, so it's nice when you leave them up for a few days. As for the ChatGPT Tokyo Tour, I think that's an interesting experiment. Perhaps you should repeat the experiment every 6-12 months to see how ChatGPT is improving.

My wife, son & I visited and stayed in Shirakawago in 2011. Just beautiful and memorable!! Freshly harvested and cooked rice from the area was also fantastic!

Such a beautiful area. I love the rivers and streams. Maybe that is why I am a hydrologist. I think i missed who the mystery guest was though. Someday I may see a stream, but 10 pm in Denmark is a bit late for me.

This was sublime.... Serene and tranquil are the words that come to mind, off the top of my semi poetic head, this is probably the first time ever that I've seen an early morning moon.. kinda makes sense at that altitude.. saw the temple bell being rung The water wheel and the smiling old lady were my favorite though.. envy the cold weather somewhat but not too much.. it's 31 degrees and it's just too much.. lol the first rays of sunlight were nice.. Have a great day ahead ❤ it's nearly 4 am gotta go to sleep..

Hi, I wanted to say thank you for this stream. I enjoy watching these as its nice to see bits of a world I'm unlikely to ever visit in person, but I've also now learned they are exactly the right level of calm to keep me from messing up as I press and sew in the hem of the skirt I was making... I usually get distracted and mess up this helped me keep focused! So I now know what my go to sewing watching is going to be :)
When I was in Japan I tried real wasabi for the first time it was life changing.
Watching after. Looking the village architecture! Laughing about the people angry about the AI in the past video. In that video you pretty much predicted it "People get upset about water" 😂 AI is just another tool. It was a great concept pulled off well. Thank you!

Shirakawago just hits so different in the early morning. I went during a summer vacation and even though it was packed with people I still thought it was beautiful. That sunrise walk just leveled-up the place. I feel like the Chubu region has so much to offer and I want more people to go there and appreciate it, but I don't what people to go there at the same time 😅
