I agree with this comment. Before decapitating poor Dexter he probably suffered terribly at the hands of this monster. Why is this monster out on parole? Why did he not receive the maximum? Why are the animal abuse laws so lenient?
I just want to give that sweet volunteer a hug. I volunteer for a rescue too, I just started volunteering with dogs and this breaks my heart. Why adopt a pup only to horribly kill it? The poor pup just wanted loves. People are awful

Potential adopters should be screened. Not everyone should be able to adopt. This man was sick and should be jailed for a long time. He might run into some inmates in prison who may not be so nice to him . Karma.

Poor, poor dog.😭😭😭 For people who are this sick there is TBS in the Netherlands. If the court thinks you commited a crime because of a mental defect, you go to prison first. After you have completed your prison sentence, you go to a clinic, that is also a prison. And you get treatment for your mental defect. And you do not get released untill you are deemed cured. That is checked by the court. If treatment is not effective, you could go into "long stay". Those people usualy never get out again. This guy would be a prime example for this I think. No ordinairy criminal would do this to my opinion.
To adopt at our local shelter you need two character witnesses, a vet, a background check, a home visit and a fenced in yard. I failed do to the non fenced yard. But I’m a volunteer at the same shelter, so no hard feelings.

I kind of get your logic, but the thing is when someone kills an animal for food they are doing it for a purpose and ideally as quickly as possible. Where as this man adopted a dog, that he was supposed to love, with the intention of metting out senseless cruelty to it, for no other reason than he is a evil, sick, vile, man.

There is no animal in the world that can do everything dogs do for humans. When was the last time you saw a bomb or drug sniffing or service chicken? Or a cow helping a handicapped person inn a wheel chair open a door, or bring something from the fridge? I've had pet chickens, as well as horses, dogs, cats, birds, turtles, rats, guinea pigs, snakes, worked on a ranch and feed the deer and turkeys around my property. It saddens me how our farm animals are treated because all animals are special, but your comment misses the point.

As a responsible dog owner I've never had one just "run away". You keep them on a leash or behind a fence so they dont harm another dog or person.
