    Not sure if its been mentioned yet. An easy way to change a tire on a two axle unit is to drive the good axle up onto blocks (just on the same side of the trailer) and that will elevate the blown tire high enough to change it. Instead of having to jack up the axle with the flat each time.

    Happy you found the problem. Both young and smart. Voltage meter? Unplug 7way. Test truck output. Test pin box. You did not have correct voltage reading. Disconnect 7 way at pin box. Test 7 way cord to pin box. I bet it would test good. Thus tells you problems are in the RV. Then I would have cut and tested each wire to each brake and that would have told you the brakes to inspect. As a professional technician in the electrical/ mechanical field I think you did a great job at not giving up and on the end you both found the problem. We sub

    Had that same trailer brake problem on My 2013 GMC Sierra went through a couple trouble shooting days went to google Forms found it was common that the -- part is called a , Trailer Brake Continue Relay Assembly , that is mounted above the rear, spare tire on my truck, that hooks up to the seven way head-on bad changed it out and had a problem since , Spring 2022 we were getting ready to make a trip from North of Nashville to Michigan and the UP. Beautiful trip great people ,4,500 miles in a month it ended up being a great trip except for the wind had a blast. Their is a new Lazy DAys RV in Murfreesboro Tn. Wrote this before finishing video to see this , Mobile Service technician didn’t check very good did he ?$300 ?? Great you found it !, Keep that other in mind also.

    We have the same fifth wheel. We bought it in September and used it one week. It’s been in the shop most of the time as fridge and bedroom slide went out on that one trip. Stress crack on the cab and was in the shop six weeks after we had it one week. We sold out Montana to buy it but I wish we had it back. Good luck. At least we are not full time but are retired and travel several months at a time. I hope everything is okay now with your camper and nothing else serious happens. BTW we always buy new tires when we buy a new fifth wheel. We learned that lesson the hard way several fifth wheels ago. Happy Trails you you.

    Great video Mike&Ash. This video carries with it a lot of value to new RV'ers, people who don't understand the challenges that come with RV'ing let alone full time RV'ing. I'm sure it will open a few eyes and help the community to be more aware. Glad this didn't crush your spirits and you rolled with it. Whats somewhat funny, is that another channel we subscribe to 'Camping with the Coles' released a video yesterday that highlighted a) a truck malfunction&repair and b) a tire change at night - its a theme this week!!!! As always, looking forward to more content :) Take care and happy holidays.

    Good video. Ups and downs of rv living. You need to be a mechanic, electrician, and a plumber if you own a rv. We've had quite a few issues with our Arcadia. Water heater blew up. Wire shorted out on bedroom slide. Auto level quit, rear wall was loose and needed to be screwed together. Hot water line started leaking like your's accessed under sink and tightened up. Blew front tire drivers side on hi way.
    Be safe. Life is an adventure

    Hopefully, by now, you have purchased a portable impact gun for changing your tires. Look into Samson gl285t tires, I use them on all my commercial trailers and my fifth wheel. I've never had any issues with them blowing out. We average around 70,000 miles on a set.

    Enjoying your videos. Hope you have gotten most of the bugs worked out of your 3250rl. We have been looking hard at a new Arcadia 3250rl. The layout seems fantastic for a couples RV. I do have a few concerns after looking it over thoroughly. One of my big concerns could be something that contributed to your axle issue. With a gross vehicle weight rating of 11,000 lb I have noticed that the axles on the Arcadia are rated 5200 lbs giving a combined weight rating of 10400 pounds. Load range E tires are rated a roughly 2830 pounds so those should sufficient. I may be over thinking things but I'd rather over rated than under.
    The unit we are looking at has the older style Colman Mach 2 AV rather than the one with the house style merv 9 filter. The trim piece above the TV has already fell off and the ceiling doesn't have a consistent paint sheen throughout.
    .

    • @MikeAsh
      @MikeAsh  Рік тому +1

      Your concerns are definitely valid about the weight ratings. With a full tank of fresh water, the back axle is maxed out. The worst part is the left to right distribution. The slide and appliances put a lot of weight in the driver side, while the passenger side has relatively light. All that said, we’ve driven over 7k miles with the new Goodyear endurance tires and haven’t had a single issue (tire/axle related).

    First of all, Ash are you from Traverse City and is your mother's name Lynn? Secondly, my best friend (some say wife) and I traveled to South America in our sailboat from the northern Great lakes. We had so many problems with our boat that we were getting depressed. We found fellow sailor's to help us as we helped others. The "community" of like minded boat people really is amazing. Now we are 70 + and are starting to RV with our grandchildren. I'm assuming we will have breakdowns, we will watch your videos to help us 'learn' of potential problems. Eg. I was wondering if a TPMS would be appropriate; after watching your issues with tires it's first on my list of mods. Thanks, we love your show!

    Ashley, you have to learn to stay calm and collected. Stuff happens and you just roll with it. If you check on things, do all the required maintenance and still have an issue there really wasn't anything else you could have done. Never waste energy on what could have happened just focus on what is or did happen then move forward.

    Like most anything else the manufacturer will take the cheap way out. Are your tires original with your new RV? And if there Chinese made, it’s advisable to get rid of them ASAP and get a good American made tire like a Goodyear or a fire stone. I had this exact same thing happen changed out to American made good years. Got my asshole the line and had no trouble ever since.

    Keep your tires 5 psi under max pressure and you should not have any more problems. Remember air Expands. The faster you go the harder the air the more expansion on an 80 psi tire. Keep them at 75 and you should be good. Good luck

    Number one thing with Tire issues on campers is camper tires or trailer tires stop buying trailer tires they are of low quality no matter what ones you buy. Best result by light truck tires preferably something in about a 10 ply rated tire keep the air right no more trailer tire problems. Trailer tires are junk.
