Hi everyone: Nippon Animation blocked this video worldwide so I had to trim out some portions of the video. I'll probably reupload this at a later date to fix this issue but until then if you see random jumps in the video, that's why. Thanks, everyone!
Yeah, I'll redo this one at some point where I don't get dinged by the original company... I really like Maruko-chan and like I can share this story with people that might not know the series.
I just started watching this show again, Japanese, Mandarin, and English since I understand all of those to different extents. I have to say my personal favorite is the Mandarin dub bc the voices for Maruko and Sakiko sound the youngest and that’s the language I was used to watching Maruko growing up haha but the English dub is great in that the voices matches pretty well the feel of the original Japanese voices especially Maruko’s sort of mischievous raspy voice the original VA did later in the series. Nothing beats the OG of course though. All great dubs overall.
Always glad to see notoriety to the anime that are Japanese ratings juggernauts but don’t really get noticed by western anime fans (Anpanman and Crayon Shin Chan for example)
The English Canadian Dub was gonna be called Maruko, Next Door and the Theme Song was basically untouched from the Japanese Version translated in english
We have two dubs in Spanish, one that us available in Chibi Maruko Channel and other that was excusive for Latin American TV for years, until last week that Chibi Maruko Chan Animación Español started uploading out of nowhere
You should definitely make a redo of this video considering there's a new english dub is gonna come out soon possibly from Funimation/Crunchyroll. Also I know this video is old but you should've talked about the ocean dub op and end that were found as well. Also I don't think the voicebox pilot dub was meant for direct to video, well maybe but I think it was for tv.
The Ocean OP and ED were not available when this was uploaded, or at least not well known, else I would've definitely covered them. I plan to remake this and Berserk, although I think Berserk will come first because the script is 75% ready.
@@HalKozy I know how unfortunate that it's lost he seems like a good voice actor and the dub was at least worth archiving (he is still in Hong Kong voicing over promos for National Geographic Asia)
the german dub started in august 2000 on rtl 2, which had a big anime hype at that time, and beyond. dragon ball z, conan, one piece, pokémon and the likes. they had the ratings! so they licensed a bunch of other shows. maruko was one of the shows that flopped. it never made it past episode 52 here
Doing god's work in covering stuff like this, out of curiosity, have you watched maruchan subs' work on the first anime? Also, in regards to Odoru Ponpokorin, Id argue Captain Jack's english DDR cover is a good dub.
I have seen a few episodes of the fansubs, but it's been a minute. I just gave Captain Jack's cover a listen, wow, I had no idea DDR of all things would include an English version of the song. It's REALLY good, matches the Japanese lyrics well. Thanks for the tip, kind of wish I heard this before I finished the video! Thanks for watching!!
@@HalKozy No prob! Also yeah I was really surprised with how well it matches the original lyrics in that regard, I really wonder why they didn't bother using it for the YT dub at all, other than royalty fees I guess. For that matter, I thought it's kinda neat how both vocalists sorta match up with B.B. Queens' vocal range, lol. In any case, It's been very exciting to see these videos (came here from the Bob In The Bottle one), I'm glad anyone on this site's finally attempting this sorta thing in any substantial way.
Awesome, glad you found the channel!! Let me know if you have any other suggestions, I've got a small list going. Doraemon should be complete in 2 weeks.
...but I did talk about it when I brought up Teryl Rothery. Remember this video is four years old, and at the time there was no knowledge of that OP and ED from Ocean. I can only report on what's known at the time of production.

I can see why the audio didn't synch with the video.

The voice for the main character Maruko, from the Anime Chibimaruko-chan, Tarako, died last week...it's a very sad news in Japan.
I kinda like Catherine Fu as Maruko because she sounds so cute and adorable
I wished the dub would actually air on North American TV, preferably on the Disney Channel or on Cartoon Network. It’s such a good dub!
Chibi Maruko-chan should be dubbed by United States in the future year
7:19 Maruko is very cute and adorable

So cute! I really need to check out an episode or two of this series. Pus those mascots in the video are so cute!
The most recent dub is free to watch on UA-cam :)
I wish Chibi Maruko-chan (1990 TV series) was returned on Animax Asia in the future year of 2024 due to 20th anniversary of Animax Asia
It returned

2:52 How Chibi Maruko-chan almost getting helped by Voicebox Productions with dubbed into English or produced by Studio B Productions like Pucca.
My childhood favourite and I watch it until this day 😌 🌸❣️👍

I'm betting that Red Angel Media Limited dubbed the 2019 version.
No, I have since confirmed it was done by SDI Media.
@@HalKozy oh neat
So when will you remake the video?
I will be doing a big update video in late May/early June covering multiple videos.
Dubbing is not so interesting as Subtitles, with original voices and sounds, because the voice actor(ess) in original Japanese are amazing.
Well you're in luck because the channel has made a major shift and I'm covering subbed releases in detail now, too

Good to know...But, I was just commenting...I actually don't need dubbing or subtitles, because I understand Japanese...🙂
