loool just the way it chasin its pray and the moves it does freaks the fuck out lololol but on the other notice really pretty awesome dogs you got there my friend i love em lol
Great vid and how do you care for these guys? I'd assume that being a funnel web that they're terrestrial, but do you keep them on moist or dry substrate? And is their venom as bad as other old world Ts?
Ted's Tarantulas And Other Inverts I keep mine pretty moist, though not too wet. The venom of Macrothele species is considered pretty strong, certainly more painful than any old world T i am aware of. Caution is definitely needed with these, as they are very quick and dont hesitate to bite.
There's actually a medical report from Taiwan of a bite by M. gigas resulting in a syndrome similar to Atrax or Hadronyche envenomation, with rapid onset. Wasn't fatal, but caused hypertension, altered consciousness, parasthesias and other sorts of neurological/autonomic ick. I'd treat these guys with as much care as Hadronyche and probably with more care than something like Latrodectus or Poecilotheria.
Au contraire - Macrothele gigas is medically significant. Probably not lethal, but there are two reports from Taiwan of severe envenomation. Not as bad as the other funnel-web that reaches this size - Hadronyche formidabilis, that guy *can* kill - but definitely spicier than any tarantula and right up there with some of the hotter species. (Not as bad as Atrax, Hadronyche, Phoneutria or Sicarius but probably worse than Missulena or Latrodectus.)
*Feels hairs tickling on legs
*throws computer across the room
Arms as well, seriously.. 😳
The webbing is insane. These guys are like bullet trains
Yes. But he need 2-3 weeks to make a solid web. But once he Made it, he Will never fails u

these are the best types of spiders for pets. spiders have a reputation as being 'pet rocks' but this one is the opposite. i could watch it all day.
Imagine if they grew to the size of Goliath bird eating tarantulas with that speed and aggression! Yikes!

Mingu1987 Tarantulas are awesome. I currently own 8 of them. I just had a female Chilean rose pass away that I had for 26 years.

Big spodermon
What the hell do you feed monster?
Not much of a funnel webbing. How medically significant is the venom on these spiders.
why are they so fast?other funnel web spiders are kinda slow.
Macrothelidae are just plain quicker than Atracidae. Not entirely clear why, but it's pretty consistent.
They are also venomous & deadly.
the venom is not deadly to humans
