    Hi! what if the two parts of contact sensors are installed in opposite way due to not having enough space for a sensor with a battery part? Meaning like a big part on the top portion of the door while leaving a small part of the contact sensor on the door itself. Is it still going to work properly? Thank you.

      Thanks for your question Hong Ku Kim and for checking out our video! It does not matter if the sensor (bigger part with battery housing) or the magnet (smaller part) are on the door or the frame. If I had enough room, I could have flipped the entire setup 180 degrees so the magnet was on the sliding door and the sensor was on the frame. However, the orientation of how the two line up is critical. Both the sensor and the magnet have an indented line on the molded casing, and they must be lined up together when the door is closed for the magnet to be able to pull the internal "reed" switch closed. Below is another video by Ring showing an up close look at the lines that must match up after installation:

    Can you recommended a rechargeable battery option?

    • @TwoNerdEFamilies
      @TwoNerdEFamilies  3 роки тому +1

      Here is a great set of 8 rechargeable CR123A batteries with a recharger in the kit. It has great reviews and even though marketed for Arlo security devices, these are the same batteries used in the first gen Ring sensors and other devices. You may just want to double check with Ring customer service before using them: amz.run/43I8

      @TwoNerdEFamilies  4 роки тому

      Yes, it is strong and sticks to all types of doors we have (metal, wood, vinyl). Thanks for checking out our video!

    How much do the batteries cost? And where can you buy them?

    • @TwoNerdEFamilies
      @TwoNerdEFamilies  4 роки тому

      You can buy replacements on Amazon, two for ~$5 or a 6-pack for $12 (link below). They should last quite a while in these contact sensors. Thanks for checking out our video and for posting your question!

    How difficult is the cover release? I’m hoping it can keep my son with Autism from taking it off. Ring has offered to send me the first generation sensors because my son slides the new ones off. Great customer service!

      The covers are a bit more challenging to remove on the 1st gen contact sensors. You have to press in the tab on the one side and takes a bit of joggling around to get it to release the top cover. Hopefully that works out and glad to hear their customer service is trying to make something work for your family.

      Do you have the 1st or 2nd generation contact sensor? Does the sensor look different than the one in the video? The one in the video is 1st gen and completely different design from 2nd gen. Shoot us a quick email (on about page) if you need more help and we'd be happy to assist!
