@@JarheadAndGingersJourney I've seen de-idiotized gas can nozzle replacement kits on Amazon in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if the idiots in the swamp have banned them, though.
I disagree, because I have dominator carburators on monster trucks and Jeep's and rat rods backfiring in my garage, welders, torches, n all kinds of crap goin on at my place. The error is in the design and expected profitability for the manufacturer. And for starters, the can without the nozzle prolly costs 20 cents or less...
Yep...since they are fixed to a rigid 90degree for filling a top cap device...notice he has to have a rube goldberg funnel system high up. Also you can't get the last quart out of the can with the nozzle because the nozzle has a long rubber dip tube going down the plastic flame arrestor mesh. Best to buy one EZ Pour kit for $9. Flexible universal nozzle and a vent cap.
Takes three hands to hold the 30pound full gas can up while squeezing and pushing on the plastic contraption while gas dribbles all over your hand and forearm and down the side of the lawnmower, killing the grass in a 2 foot circumference
I bought one yesterday. Couldn't get a drop to come out. How do they expect anything b to come out with the tube that runs up inside the can. It was not mentioned in any one directions. It's gone now. And how is it safer because their stupid impractical design forces one to use a funnel?
Well all I’m looking to do is fill a generator. I go to gas station for my car, most of lawn equipment is electric and how long can it take to fill a wood chipper gas tank maybe a half gallon. I just ordered one of these from Amazon will see.
The problem isn't with the spout while pouring out, the problem is getting the can to fill up properly at the gas pump. Pump is always cutting off and takes for ever to fill. up.
Yeah, that's what happened to me. My Mom got me a 2 1/2 gallon gas can with the newer nozzle. Went to put a couple gallons of gas in, and it was spurting all over the place. I just gave up after getting less than $5 worth of gas in. I haven't even tried to put it in my car (I ran totally out of gas the other day) it's just been sitting in my garage. I don't feel like dealing with it anymore.
Gotta be honest, these are easier to use than the once that you have a lip and have a spring loaded nozzle. I do have a couple old plastic 1 gallon cans that just have the funnel in them.
One of the good things about the lever is it’ll keep the gas in well and tight while you break your back lifting the can up 🤣🤣 Only problem is getting it open once you’ve got it there and holding it tight
Get a ratcheting quick release cable cuff at home depot, usually less than $3. You can clamp the push to pour button down with it, and when not using clamp it around the gas can handle.
I went to the store not knowing that they had changed. Picked one up and tried to use it like i would at home to fill a mower or a car. I instantly noticed how much they suck to use. You can't even pour it into your cars gas tank because the angle is so limited. If you dont have a full one, you'll never get much out of it. One of the main reasons to have the spout on the thing is for accurate pouring. But you can't control this as well because your hands are in a bad (less than advantageous) position now.
Ideally the older ones with the back vent and the yellow spout that stuck out a raging boner with a cap worked best imho, but the longer spout was prolly a issue during storage. Dunno why manufacturers ditched the 12 cent vent for a 35 dollar internally vented spout tho......
Great! I hate those idiotic Rube Goldberg contraptions that require three hands and a pair of visegrips to operate. One zip tie is a huge improvement in usability.
I went to tractor supply and bought a huge tin funnel then I just drop it into the tank and take that whole contraption off the can. The pour the gas in and rest the can in the funnel and you just need to help balance it. No more holding it.
I hate this ridiculous gas can WHY it doesn’t have a long nozzle on it make sure you have a funnel if not you’re screwed and I still can’t make it work.SMH
The next hack needs to be getting rid of the hatched ring that you have to use tools for to get the damned cap off to fill it. I speak from experience 😩
@@JarheadAndGingersJourney Funny, my wife always asks me how I got so smart and always being asked to join think tanks for RIMPAC and APEC and two think tanks for the US Air Force? The answer is very simple, being a US Marine and a federally license Ham operator, two fields that require thinking outside the box! Of course, it helps residing in Hawaii where they are desperately short on talent and know how! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
@@JarheadAndGingersJourney and trucks.... I have that very can. Because I weld jeeps and trucks nearby, I kept it for reduced venting afforded by the valve you zip tied open.(although I'm assuming the zip ties are loose enough to flip on and off). But ideally you should not need extra funnels and tubes and duct tape to use the can, and the nozzle is too short and angled for use on vehicles so you can only pour a quarter of the can before it stops pouring because you can't tip it upward more to pour. You can try to tip it upside down to get more fuel out, but the angles of the spout are still bad upside down. In all, it's probably designed for primary use for lawn equipment. BTW....nice camper. I'm an avid camping enthusiast also.
gas cans are the best analogy of why government shouldn't be in charge of anything.
For sure need to go yardsailing to find old versions.

The real hack is to remove that nozzle, throw it in the garbage, and buy one that works.
That would work
Inxpensive and dont have to lift the can!

That is what I did. I threw the junk Scepter spouts in the trash and ordered old school plain replacement spouts. Gas can works great now.

Good thing it didnt let the vapors into the atmosphere😂😂😂
The government at work for us. I got one of these but it's totally worthless if you ask me
Completely agree

How much they cost?
Way to much $40 i think
Can you make a video on how to fill it up without getting gas everywhere?
I would if I still had them they were stolen out of my truck
This is awesome, thank you for sharing.
Glad it helped!
I still have two older all metal ones with the metal swivel spout I use to store turboblue race gas, and four metal Jerry cans on my Jeeps.❤
Keep them for sure haha
I’ll have to tell Bill cause he hates the new cans. Good hack.
It worked well thanks
Thank you for your service ...

Mine will not push in?
Sounds like you got a defective one I would take it back.

Agreed these things are almost useless with the little trick of the zip tie it works a little better but still not the best angle on the spout
Great hack 👍
Thanks
The best video out about this gas can
Haha thank you!
Can not wait to try this

Nice rig, will try it. Rah!
It works Semper Fi
thx now I know how to pour those stupid gas cans
Haha glad it helped these are definitely no good!
@@JarheadAndGingersJourney yeah i needed some to light a fire for my forge
Cool I would love to have a forge to play with.
Turn it upside down u don’t need a ziptie
ok

Hahaha glad you liked it
I have this very gas can and have absolutely no problem using it. Not sure why people can't figure these out.
They’re just a pain in the ass!
I must say that who ever makes gas cans must be mentally off to some degree.
Totally agreed
LOVE IT👍💯💯💯💯💯

Nice anything spill?

Thanks for the tip.
Yep
Being a Marine, you should know better to use duct tape for securing that push button 😂
Hahaha I was expanding my horizons
A little Tennessee chrome goes along way
Going to try this for my generator. Thanks!
Awesome that’s exactly what I use mine for!
@@JarheadAndGingersJourneyI thought I was crazy having to look up how to use a gas can...lol So your video was very helpful. 😊

Hahaha yep it really sucks. The zip tie does help though.
Actually just toss the thing to the trash and save up and buy a steel van that’ll last for generations.
Thats an even better solution! Thanks they really messed them up didn’t they?
Remove the nozzle and pour.
Hahaha
Sure can is the only remedy but you gotta pony up!
I haven’t heard of them. Canada has some old school type plastic cans still too

Agreed that is horrible too
The thing is now if the can tips over gas is going to spill out all over the place.
That’s true. Unless you clip the tie every time.
Leave it to a United States Marine to figure out a work around. 👍
Semper Fi brah! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
