I recently made a cake and I used simple syrup on both sides of my cakes and I thought it was a generous amount but my cake was still dry. I did leave my cake in just a little to long but just like a minute to long. I thought the syrup would fix it for sure.
Hey Donna! I squeeze enough to cover the entire surface of the cake on both sides - did you try using a simple syrup bottle or did you use a pastry brush? If you're using a brush I recommend going over the surface 2-3x to ensure maximum syrup soakage!

I'm from the deeeeep south in the United States and one of the staples of good cake baking is a pound cake and I don't mean the loaf pan type of pound cake, either. I'm talking about a tube or bundt pan with a pound of flour, a pound of butter, a pound of sugar and in some cases up to nine eggs. Seven is my limit. 😆 I'd like to challenge you to come up with a cakie or some sort of creation that only you could conceive of and bring it to How To Cake It, Southern-style. And Baby Girl... should you accept this challenge, a lot of Southerners will have their eyes on you, so you better do it right! A southern pound cake is serious business. Love you so much.
