I have had this radio for about 6 months and it is a great performer. I usually take this to bed with me. MW and USB are very effective. I fall to sleep listening to my radio favs.
Wow what a sensitive radio, with good separation on the stations. Very nice and clear modulation on the AM band. I think i got a new favorite among the Tecsun GR 88 and Tecsun PL-660, and that is Eton Elite Executive. 😀👍 73de from LA5IRA in Norway. 😊🇳🇴
I get 760 WJR (over 950 miles) and Chicago stations like locals here at night in Louisiana on my Eton Elite Traveler. My record is 1030 in Boston at 1350 miles but it doesn`t usually come in very good.
Nice little radio w/very good performance! Still use the venerable R-72 here. Most of those stations are 50kw present or former clear channel. The 10kw regional freqs are a lot of fun to sit on if you can stand it. And you got some decent catches!
Man that was a sensitive little radio on AM . I got a 2020 Model and not as sensitive nor as bright - sending back - may try again for another one . Mine does have a low noise floor , but I want the sensitivity .
Hello tod. A caution if I may. Should you purchase the new sat. Make sure you have the new firmware up date as 10..5 I got mine from universal radio and it's not bad. Happy newyear. Ron z.WA3090SWL.
Will this radio scan stored memory stations? I cannot figure it out. I have 7 frequencies stored under F1 - F7. How can I now have it scan those frequencies I stored into memory? Thanks so much in advance.
Rookie question, but is the extendable antenna unnecessary when listening to AM? I just purchased this Eton Elite Executive radio and I'm still very much in the learning stage. Thanks!
For the Medium Wave broadcast band, the radio employs the use of an internal ferrite antenna. The external antenna is used when on Shortwave, FM, and the AIR band. So the antenna stays retracted since it has no effect while listening between 530kHz-1710kHz.
I'm reading on the shortwave reddit forums that people are irritated by the "chuffing" or channel muting while tuning frequencies and they are returning the Eton for the PL880. What is this chuffing and does it bother you? Would you pick the PL880 over this?
I did, I liked the 880, but I sold it because the audio was a bit to bass heavy for me. I own two of these Etons, and love both of them. I got them cheap, when it was on sale for $77 on Amazon during the holiday season..that was a bargain. Chuffing, not sure if I noticed this, or it doesn't bother me. I usually know my targets and store them or enter them in manually. I don't tune in HAM activity much though, so that may be why I am not bothered by the mute on tuning as well. I also own a Sangean 909X which I mainly use for HAM hunting.
I would like to see a slightly larger version of this called Etòn DX with tone controls a 3" speaker /4" AM Ferrite Rod/ separate EXT antenna hookups / separate fine tune knob /better filters for $249. which could DX AM and FM. Make the call Todd....
Is there a list of all of the channels? I am on day 2 of learning. This radio is on its way to me. What book would you suggest for the very beginning beginner? 😁

Cool. I’ve really sort of shyed away from Eton radios ever since they started phasing out the Grundig name. Grundig used to be THE radio to have. But recently it seems they started going “cheap”. I had considered this radio in the past, but really wanted to make sure I spent the money on a decent radio. Especially after blowing my money on a bad 660, and replacing it with an un-inspiring 600. For me, that’s a whole lot of money. 📻🙂
Jeff King I'm confused. Were there Eton radios of those model numbers, or are you referring to Tecsun PL-660 and PL-600? I have a Tecsun 660 which I don't think is bad, but am looking at Todderbert's reviews of this radio and wondering if it's worth upgrading to this one. Was thinking Tecsun PL-880, but that doesn't seem to be enough of an upgrade from the 660 to justify. Edit: This Eton just looks so nice!
@@stevenemert837 I won`t make the mistake of buying another Tecsun. My best two radios are a Grundig G6 and an Eton Elite Traveler. Cost me less than 120 bucks for both brand new. Both have excellent reception and sound. I bought a Tecsun PL 310 et that doesn`t receive AM and to power it I was forced to buy a 4 pack of rechargeable batteries and an AC adapter so I can charge the 3 rechargeable batteries inside it. All I hear when attempting to use the AC adapter to power it is a horrible buzzing roar and very weak audio, even on FM. Terrible decision. I couldn`t return it without driving over an hour and a half since the nearest UPS store is far away from me. I won`t be gambling on Tecsun ever again. Their disgusting customer service idiots gave me a HUGE runaround and finally admitted to selling me a FAKE radio!
You must be new to Medium Wave Listening. Did you know there is a ferrite bar inside the radio that has a coil of wire wound around it so it may receive the longer wavelengths that the AM broadcast band uses? To tune in an AM Broadcast station, you point the horizontal edge of this internal antenna towards the broadcasting station. The External whip antenna has no effect on the AM broadcast band, only for Shortwave, and the more narrow wavelengths above, such as the FM/AIR band.
@@todderbert yup I'm new thinking of buying one of these. I'm liking the executive one. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Since I have you. Can one pop the back off and tune these much like you would a CB or ham? Just curious.

Thanks for a great video. I heard you say about recording programs. Would you consider making a video of your recorder. Thanks
810 is WMGC from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I can get that station clear. 1620 is WNRP from Pensacola, FL. 1660 WQRL from Kalamazoo, MI.
Although they look the same I wonder if the eton executive is an upgraded version of the eton grundig satellite?!?!?!

Do you like this radio more than the Tecsun pl-880
Yes, I own two Executive Satellits, and I sold off my 880...personal choice. Many love their 880s. I like the Executive and my Sangean 909X.
Another great review.👍☘

I tend not to use it much.

It is not like a Tecsun, you have to manually scan the pages of memories. Similar to a CC Skywave, and XHData D-808.
Hi i like this Radio but in Germany we dont have this brand. I know only Tecsun PL 880, which one is your Favorite?
Did you finalize it? My mids are everywhere on low frequencies, especially at 610 kHz, generator hum (
