My family has had a sun conure for years. Before we got her, she got her foot Tangled in a rope toy, and ended up chewing it up,as her breeder was out of the house. Now she's scared of hands, won't step up, or anything. She will take treats and quite literally snatch food out of my hands, but she's scared of hands, probably because her breeder pulled her out of danger to look at her foot and traumatized her. We do our best to work with it
I talk to my eclectus parrots during the ads on TV and now they have learned all the ads and if I don't talk to them I get screamed at. My poor neighbors lol. Magnets (fridge) r a bird killer too.
This is so helpful! I just got a budgie (as did my mom, but realistically I’m going to be the one to tame them both), and while I’ve had budgies before, I wasn’t very good at taming them, and I’m hoping to do a better job with my new bird. Also, the last time I got a new bird was 2012, so I forgot a bunch of stuff about taming birds. Wish me luck with Gwydion and Matcha.
thank you so much, my right bird has gotten me the perfect bird
Can these tips work on parent raised budgies?
Yea I have a problem I have te Cage open when I am in de room but my parrot does not sit on the Cage he just flies true the room and I don't know what to do
Um... What happens when you leave the door open but the bird is too scared to come out buy when you secure the cage the green cheek conure tries to escape. On several occasions kiwi, my gcc, has escaped and hidden under sofas and furniture.... That is why i am hesitant to let her out. She tries to get away from me.
I can't put my bird in my living room Bc my dog will probably kill it. Should i just keep her in my room? I do have friends over often ???
Please help!!! I have a blue and gold macaw (girl) and got her 3 months ago. She lives in a large play stand and doesn’t like to fly and is bad at it so she doesn’t fly -ever- her wings aren’t clipped. She was doing absolutely amazing until like 2 weeks ago and she got really playful and stepped up but then bit me very hard and ever since hasn’t been the same and I didn’t do anything I was trying to put her away and she just bit me. I don’t really mind the biting but I don’t want someone in my family coming up and her biting them really hard. I want to know if that’s because she’s hormonal or something else
Thanks!!
My parents excuse for them not letting me put my cockatiels cage next to me is cause “it’s night... but I already vacuumed”
My bird is a fancy green cheek conure and he bites me any time I put my hand near him no matter what I do I looked up a bunch of different ways to stop it and nothing worked
How u get to the quiz
I have a cockatiel and a budgie none of which are tame
Bribe them with fruits.
Da Dragon Durp my bird wont eat fruit
My cockatiels don't care about treats
All birds are different one my first birds was my mom's ringneck & we got his trust with cheese Cheetos & eventually fruit
Da Dragon Durp my birds don’t even know fruit is food yet. I not only need to tame them but make them tolerate me enough to EAT WHAT THEY NEED TO EAT 😭
Da Dragon Durp I prepare a fruit veggie meal for them daily and they wont eat 😩
I was actually looking into getting a conure, but last time you talked about MyRightBird, I went and took the quiz. It recommended that a cockatiel would suit me better and after a bunch of research, the quiz was right - so guess what I'm getting this sunday ;) Thank you for making me aware of the cute website, Tyler
SummonWolf i have a cockatiel and he is amazing. they are a great choice
I’m getting one in April! :) Good luck with your bird!

Maddie Smith so true!!! BTW I love ur latest video Maddie😉
I was terrified he lost his daddy hair I was QUAKING
Definitely
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else is searching for how to teach a parrot tricks try Dalz Parrot Tips Discovery (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my cousin got great results with it.
When I first got a cockatiel I let it sit in its cage for two hours while I was playing on my computer somewhat near it, afterwards I really wanted to get to know it so I took it out and about an hour later it was on my shoulder loving me and letting me pet his head softly, it was really cute. Two weeks later I take it outside with no problem and just hang out with my bird not having to fight it to stay with me. A week after that I take him on a bike ride through a "Green Belt" (a pathway in a suburban type area that looks like a forest but if you walk 50 feet out, there are houses) and no matter how fast or slow I went he just wanted to hang out with me. To me this proves how different birds can be from each other, was it dangerous? yeah probably. But I had bonded with my bird so closely that I was never worried. Of course, I would never recommend this, but moral of the story, I believe that taming a bird not only takes your own pace but the bird's pace as well. I just so happened to get very lucky.
How ..... How......
?
Soo lucky..
I hope he was wearing a harness for his safety..
Was it hand reared when you got him?
Clipped wings huh? That will make it easier.
Hey birbs are cool. Mine are gouldian finches though, so it will literally take like a year or more before they will feel safe with my hand in the cage. They can have an actual heart attack if I move too fast or make a loud noise. 😂
THEY ARE COLORFUL AF
CatAleah I have a gray African parrot and she either a. Stares at me bc I'm annoying her, b. Tries to get out, or c. Tries to bite me (she didntvreally do that one tho).
I had a zebra finch and it was just laying down dead on sunday then my dad bought a Sun conure today
i also have the same finch with the same problem
CatAleah but I bet they sing well
What if your kitchen is right next to your living room?
Squishy lovers Forever! That’s okay
That's my main problem, the two main rooms in my house that are most used/hung out in are both right next to the kitchen with nothing separating them but a bench and pantry... all the other rooms are bedrooms and the bathroom which I obviously don't want to keep them in😂...
The Thing not really, there’s non stick cookware in most kitchens and it will harm them
That means you’re a woman.
@@masteroogway1372 Hm?
OMG I JUST GOT A BIRD AND WAS GONNA SEARCH THIS ON YOUR CHANNEL!!!!
I had to tame my cockatiel. 💕
I got her when I was 8, my parents did a lot of the cleaning and feeding and water changes back then but she was my second pet ever.
She was vary skittish and agressive. So I would just sit by the cage and read to her for the longest time. She bit most other members of the family but not me.
Eventually I started reaching into the cage but i left one perch as her "safe place" when she stepped on it I would close the cage and wait for her to relax.
After a 4 months I had her completely tamed. She even learned a few tricks, she would climb all over my room and sit on my shoulder.
I had her for exactly 8 years and then a few days after my birthday a lump appeared just behind her left leg...
We scheduled an appointment for the fallowing thursday (3 days after the lump appeared) but the next day the lump was a masive fluid filled sack and we rushed her to the animal hospital.
Turns out it was a hernia, they told me They couldn't operate because of her age and the position of the abdominal tear.
They drained the sack and sent me home with a bunch of pain killers to give her. They told me that if her condition worsened, or the sack changed color It would be best to bring her back and have her put down.
I had to bathe her twice every day because the poop would dry on the hernia. It was the best part of her day because she got to relax in the water and take the weight off her belly.
3 days of this tho and I finally I cracked and scheduled the appointment to have her euthanized.
She was my best friend for so long that I told myself I'd never get another bird.
.
Then... A few months before my 21st birthday I changed my mind and started looking into English Budgies (still not sure when or if I'll ever adopt another cokatiel). My parents, also bird lovers, missed my cockatiel so much that the offered to get the budgie for me for my birthday and we ended up adopting two of them from a local bird rescue/sanctuary.
.
They are far from tame right now, but I read to them every day... They bring an entirely new light back into my life but I still miss my baby...
How are they doing now? I’d love to have an update 😊
I hope your ok. He misses you too... he’s in a better place...
Well, I didn't expect to cry right now, but I'm glad she was humanely euthanized, it would have been much worse to let her suffer.
i'm so sorry, but at least you had 8 wonderful years together :) I hope you have lots of luck with your budgies!
So my living room is connected to my kitchen, with no walls so how would I do that
Bird Flight- My kitchen and living room are also one connected space. I am very careful about turning on the fan on my cooktop when cooking on the stove or in the oven to minimize any fumes. I guess it’s a step in the right direction. If I burned something, I’d take Kira to another room for a while. (Hasn’t happened yet, but that’s my plan).
So my kitchen is also the same space as my living room but I have 2 cocktail so I just put them in my room and I just got them like 2 weeks ago
you could get a smaller cage to transport them to your room or a smaller room
If you’re considering getting a bird (RESEARCH!) *definitely* consider adoption there are SO many birds in shelters and foster homes that need a permanent home. Birds are the third most abandoned pet & 85% of parrots are re-homed after only two years of being “adopted”/bought. Parrots are pets that require *a lot* of attention and special care, because they’re still wild animals. If you research bird/parrot care before buying/adopting, they can be lifetime companions that will love you so much.
Existential Crisis I totally agree
And I'm grateful that people can get help and information from people like you and Taylor
I just can't stress enough how important it is to research an animal before getting one
i researched but he hates me and is scared of me
Get A Penguin then research more. it takes time and patience
Get A Penguin Exactly, houseofhades had it right. Sometimes (actually quite often) it takes a while for birds to warm up to you. I’ve heard of cases when it can take months or even years before a bird isn’t scared around their human. The best thing to do is take it slow. It’s better to have a slow and steady bonding time than to try and rush it, because your bird may get frightened and you’ll have to start over again. They have to get past the stage where they think you’re a predator and then they also need to accept you into their “flock”. Parrots have the mental capacity, like humans, to be picky in who they like or dislike. Occasionally, birds will never warm up to you. But, if you’re the main caregiver and spend a few hours a day with your bird (give him/her treats when your there so the bird associates you with good feelings), it shouldn’t take long (unless you or a previous caregiver has traumatized the bird in some way) before it likes you. Remember: research, take it slow and spend lots of time with your bird!
Get A Penguin took about a year for my Lilac Crowned Amazon to bond to me, now we’re best friends. Lots of time and patience! you’ll get there
Aww I love Gizmo! SO BEAUTIFUL 💕

Your pet dog is so chilled! 😂 Mango is cuuute! I just got a sun conure 4 days back... He doesn't let me pet him... 😑 I have seen so many cute videos and I am depressed. ☹️
Still a Humanist how is it now?
L W Hi! He lets me pet him now but screeches a lot cannot learn tricks. He is a 1 yr old male.
Some things are universal. How is he now?
SuperIntuitive Womaniya I have a budgie, and I’ve had him for almost a year now, and he still doesn’t let me pet him, and he doesn’t like coming out of the cage, and I’ve seen videos and I’m sad now, because the other budgies are playful, but my bird is not playful, he hates me.

Extremely Zavier what kind of bird is it
********** ######### there parakeets
Just take your time and be paitient those are the mistakes I made not being patient and taking my time
Denae Martin I have been patient for 12 months and I have personally given up on them
I had the same problem but now they let me touch them and they know how to step up too. I recommend like Tyler said put your hand in cage (with seeds) if they come to your hand they will trust you everything you put your hand in they won't br afraid and will trust u more
I have a parrot
We named it mango
Then I realized today that you have a pet named mango...
What’s true is that I have a sun conure
He is mango and was born on the day my mother was born

I *love* my sun conure. He saved my life. ❤️
Are you gonna elaborate on that

My cockatiel loves me, but he chooses when he wants to fly to me. I can't make the first move. He's frustrating
Breanna Fowler omg I have a cockatiel two I always come up to her and when she is out she gets a bit scared to fly but still flies to me😂😂😂#cockatiellife
You can train him. Sometimes they won't change but for the most part he will if you stick with it.
HELP I have budgies and to the leaving the cage open how do I get them back in when I need them to. Please answer
Edit: and mine just go frantic when they got out yesterday and almost hurt them selves won’t they just go frantic
Jamie Yutzy same!!!!!
good idea!
If it won't step up and just bite/attack you or fly away, you can try and dim down the lights to the point where you can barely see the bird but it can't see you, now get it to step up normally with the command and put it back in... I think this works because the bird will be a bit hesitant to start flying in the dark and they won't fight back because they don't know it's your hand. Youre welcome
Jamie Yutzy if you have a lot of time don’t handle the bird... put their favorite treat in there cage and they’ll probably get bored after a while and wander in. If you don’t have a lot of time get there food bowl and they’ll usually step up on it and you can get them in the cage. Hopefully this works for you!
slowly get closer to them and softly talk/ sing. lure them with their favorite foods and try to get them on your hand, if that doesn’t work then try to wait until they go back in the cage?
Thanks for the advice, hopefully now my bird won’t be so mean to me now. Lol. Now what do I do when my bird attacks my dog? Lol my dog is terrified of going in the room when my bird is out of the cage.
P.S. you and mango are really cute and adorable
Michael Leon just don't allow them to be in the same room with each other. Causes unnecessary stress and introduces a possible dangerous situation should your dog get ahold of the bird.
I really want a bird, but I'm afraid my dog might be aggressive towards it, even though my dog is so sweet
I was worried too, but once your bird get used to their surrounding and hear your dog barking, your dog will also get used to the birds in their territory
My dog was intrested at the beginning, but then we scolded her when she tried to bite him, and in a couple days she learned! However my parrot wasnt scared of the dog
I have had my birds since November and whenever I walk the get so scared. They arnt clipped and fly everywhere . They are so scared and I do everything for them . Help what do I do
Edit : they arnt aggressive they are just scared
karin rezkkk you should began something small like a small treat. It'll take time but Slowly go towards them.
Min Yoongi put them in the cage, use your hand to replace food and water, talk to them and put your hand in a point position (a perch) and try again don't force your bird, it still works but it's harder
I have the same problem
I have the same problem with a Indian ring neck but my winged bee bee loves everyone
Im 13- and very impatient- over had my parakeet for almost two months an ive tried taming him but he just doesn't like me-
I’ve had mine for 2 years and he still doesn’t like me 😢
I bought a young Sun Conure that was parent raised. I didn't know how to train birds so I trained her like a dog complete with hand commands. I trained her with praise and affection. I never used food for training.
Wait Tyler, I thought you had Awsten Knight hair😂 or did you film this before you dyed your hair?
Hell yes! Because I've had my budgie for months and he still doesn't like me. Any other tips?
DailySavageMix I’ve had my budgies for YEARS and tried and tried to train him and spend time with him but it still hates me
I've had my budgies for half a year and I have tried every trick in the book, and they still hate me.
********** ######### I'm taking my birds out of the cage daily and now we actually get along! They'll let me pick them up, hand feed them and put them. So try taking them out of the cage for 2-3 hours a day, so that you can bond with them.
Budgies are so different in trusting people. I got a budgie and he was so nice and tame after one Week i could touch him and he sat on my head and fingers. A few month later we bought him a little buddy and he was scared of everything. He never got tame and just when entered the room he was so scared and was hiding and flew away.
I have learned that a budgie is not a good type of parrot
Birds are like mean girls
I'm sorry what???

I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL
I don’t even have a bird, but I’ll watch because it’s Tyler and I’ll most likely see some Mango in this video😩😩
I got a green check recently and he’s adorable! He likes to either sit on top of his cage or fly to my shoulder (He spends all of his cage time trying to push the door open!) The only issue is that he is extremely bitey (major takes skin off bites) He is absolutely not afraid of me (which might be easier to be honest) and he’s super happy about sunflower seeds and cantaloupe. I love him but I want to pull my hair out lol
In a rush? Here ya go
- Leave you bird in the family where a lot of people pass by or just chill in but DO NOT PUT YOUR BIRD IN THE KITCHEN they can get hurt from that see the link in the description for more info the link is called 5 things in your home that can kill your bird check it out highly recommend
- make sure your bird is not isolated and is outside of his or her cage once in a while However don’t stick your hand in there cage open up the cage or if you have a balcony like I do open that up for them to come outside and for you to pick them up, the real reason for this? If you stick your hand in there cage you are in there territory and you are just kicking them out like when you don’t pay your mortgage for a long time and your bank comes to steal your House kinds like that
- If your bird says nope I’m not stepping up let it get all warmed up to a giant making you latch on to his finger your bird is way smarter than your doggo they have the brain capacity to think and solve puzzles so they can have feelings too a bird can love one person but hate another if your bird is not trusting you bribe it wit treats whatever your birds like is what your treat is gonna be your bird has to not be nervous around you and know you are not a threat
- touching back on the subject of hands if you don’t have a balcony and you want your bird that’s inside if the cage to step up (which is not recommended) your gonna have to have your bird to get used to your hands put your hand against the cage open the cage stick your hand in the cage slowly let it get used to your hand slowly (this method is good for birds that don’t completely hate you) then you can get to the point where you can slowly move closer to your bird kinda like red light green light 1 2 3 food and treats can accelerate this process of not hating your hand
-SPEND TIME WITH YOUR BIRD it’s kinda like your baby if you spend a 1 hour a day with your baby it will hate you and be like “I was neglected ad a kid” keep your bird with you when your doing like say homework or watching tv just being close to you will be good be sure to talk to your bird a lot when it’s with you like during commercial breaks for what not
That’s it that’s the whole summary of what he said in the video hope you enjoy
So.. I have a 3 year old cockatiel I’ve been really struggling to tame. It’s been about a month and I’ve been patient and training him as much as I can. He just is not okay with being handled at all. He doesn’t let anyone touch him but he accepts treats inside of his cage when I leave him alone. Any tips on bonding with an older bird?
Edit: He’s hella antisocial
Hows is it going now and if youre cockatiel is tamed now how did you do it?
Hey you probably wont read this ik this vid is a bit old 2! But can you or anyone who's a bird expert that reads this help me with one of my questions? Okay so my parents finally agreed for me to get a sun conure and my question is, does the bird poop anywhere or does it go back to its cage to poop? Can you train them to? Ik mango pooped on ur back at the end but I thought it was probably cuz hes uncomfortable or nervous.

i am a big fan💞
I love every kind of bird. Currently I have 2 lovebirds named skittles and lemonade and they were supposed to be tamed because the owner of the pet store lied to us saying they are tamed and I’m not an expert in teaching bird. I grew up with birds around me and all of these birds I had were tamed. But my love birds that I have are not tamed and I had them for almost 4 months and I don’t know what to do. I tried every method of gaining their trust but I fail and I need anyone help or advice because every time I went pass to them they just get scared as if I killed them or something and I think they had bad experience when they were in the pet store. Please I need your help.(sorry for my bad English)
When I feed my bird with my hand he just bites my hand 😂 what can I do
please read this and respond i really need help. if u do thank you. so i have a peach faced lovebird that have owned for about 2 months. it still hates me. even before i tried doing the hand thing where u put your hand near the cage and its getting slightly better but the bird still freaks out at random and makes my whole family mad(i dont personally care). my grandparents can hear him through 2 closed doors in our living room while hes sitting on my computer desk in which i spend most of my day.. when i did try feeding him a treat he was actually getting close to my hand after 20 mins but i couldnt hold it anymore and my hand started twitching and he got spooked. the one time i did let him out of the cage after a month(was on accident) he freaked out and he flew around for 3 hours while me trying to catch him. eventually i just left his cage door open and let him walk in to get food then i closed the cage door. also should mention that his cage is a bit too small, gonna geta bigger one soon.but at this point i dont know what to do. he still hates me. im gonna try feeding him treats again. P.S. is cllipping wings necessary? i support wing clipping but will i have to keep doing it or just for the taming process? If u read this entire thing then thanks, if u respond then i cant thank u enough
I have two budgies and I have them for more than a month and I still haven't tamed them uhhhhhh

I feel guilty for neglecting my bird all these years. When i was little we got my two sun conures but they were mainly my mom and dads. They never really let me near them for obvious reasons, but they *Loved* my dad, but my dad left around 7 and my mom had been neglecting these birds and over time they got aggressive, so i’m watching this video to gain their trust again :)
another great video
My budgie will totally eat out my hand with just his normal food but dude if I try and touch his he’s h he will bite me and I’m not so sure why

I have lost my conure's trust what to do 😭😭😭 please help me
How do I make my bird not like me such much? I mean he's trying to dryhump my hand all the time it's really disturbing...
Make sure you only pet him around his head and neck area, if you pet other parts of their body they can get sexually frustrated and it can cause them to get hormonal
Any time I lose my Birds Trust I Get It Back So Quick
I have a severe macaw, a sun conure, a gold cap conure, a cinnamon conure, a black hooded conure, two parrotlets, a greater sulfur cockatoo and two cockatiels.
My love of birds is recent for me, most of the birds listed are my parents, I only personally own three of the conures. I love conures, I think they are great pets, thank you for the tips though. My cinnamon is a newer addition, he is super aggressive and mean to me, I think it is because he was slightly abused by the pet store that I got him from.
Do you have any tips for a bird that has a gender preference? Our severe macaw is aggressive toward women and it was fine in the beginning because my dad was home more, but he works a lot now. Iggy (Severe macaw) likes me a lot, he talks the most to me and sings to me, but I cannot touch him at all. We’ve had him for eight years and I’d like him to be as happy as possible, I think he’d like it better if I could get him out of his cage. But when his cage is open, he tries to attack us all...so tips welcome!
Can i oopen tge cage with a room with other open room
Does this work with budgies aswell?
U talk a lil slow, I put it on 1.2 and t was better

well, there's no food or water around in my room. so he'll fly straight back in

My sun conure is named mango too! Lol!
My parrot have a long neck
I have a question I am a little sad about them being in the cage the whole day but I’m also scared about them flying in the ceiling fan can you plz give me some advice about that
Hi! I got a love bird around 6 months ago. He was very much quiet the first month. Literally thought the birb was broken 🤣. One day he was in his cage and in my room and a song was playing- he suddenly started to scream and just a bunch of different noises. Slowly he began to scream, for songs or when we talked or when he head other birds outside. Later he figured out how to open his cage and fly out. We had to catch him every night tho. Then we pegged the cage door and let him out in the morning and taking him back in by night. He eats anything- actually even stuff we eat. He always sits on my shoulder when I'm getting my food, or just wants to see what I am up to. The only thing is he is scared when I approach him. Sometimes he ate from my hand but then recently he flies off. I watched a bunch of videos and realized I have not been taking good care if my bird, and now I know I should be doing. But what more can I do?
Love this channel

I just love it when I see good souls like you, it's so important for the pet carer to form a bond with their pets, I have a Galah Cockatoo which is showing to be smarter than I ever thought, I am taking time to form a friendship with him and also teaching my other family members how to act around him, so I am basically training everyone in the house!🙈

I have had my budgies for about two months, and they refuse to ever leave the cage. They may come on my shoulder, but only for a few minutes before they fly back. They bite me whenever I put my hand in, and when I talk to them they sometimes start flying around their cage. HELP ME PLEASE!
Sophia Okwuosa sorry if this is late, but you could use another object to get them out. Use a separate perch instead of your hand and that should probably do the trick. Most birds often feel obligated to protect their home and will bite any living things that come through it. After they’re out, show the bird that your fun to be with. You could get the bird a harness and take him outside with you while feeding him a treat when he stays on your finger. You could also get a toy and dangle it in front of him while he sits in your finger. That always worked with my tiel when he was still getting used to me. Good luck!
