How our Big Musical Fountain works

- In this video we show you how our musical fountain works, yes, we show you behind the scenes.
If you watch the video it also tells you the software we use for this fountain, it also tells you @ 05:40 and 09:58 the creator of the software has passed away, and the software was never in the public domain as it was custom written for each fountain. So you can not make a fountain and its controls like we have. As most music can only be used under licence, we use "royalty free music" which is available in from a variety of places. Hi! What kind of pumps are you using with this setup?
As said in the video at 2:55 you need a pump with an asynchronous motor, there are several brands on the market.
Im trying to find the same kind of pumps, where we can found them ?
You can get all the hardware for the fountain online. Do as we do "look around" for who is offering the best deal. One month it will be one company, next month a different company.

Hi Lynda 46, can you do a video of your musical fountain playing the songs “We’ve Built This City” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us” by Starship? That would be great as well.
@palmbeachasmr it takes weeks to choreograph a display properly, so it's not possible to "make a show video" in a short time, also most music is protected, so I would be struck off for breach of copyright.

That’s a very cool fountain! The video is also very educational! I also built my own musical fountain too. My homemade musical fountain was inspired by the California Plaza Watercourt Fountain and the Brooklyn Museum Fountain which were created by WET Design. I’m actually a huge fan of WET’s works.

Our fountain does not work like that. We use multiple pumps and multiple nozzles, most of our pumps only have one nozzle. We are working on a video that explains how it works, it should be ready later this year. (We are closed for the season)

Hey, I recently had a DMX failure in my fountains, and it really seems I'll have to replace most pumps with the Oase Aquarius Premium Pumps to have DMX Control, could you show me a video of an Aquarius 5000 or 6000 running at full power with a Komet nozzle about the size of your regular hose adapter? I need to see which pump will fit my needs better but I really can't find any video around the internet of them. I want to create a jet around the height of 4m-5m, if you could do the video or tell me which pump is right for me I would greatly appreciate it, also just for confirmation those pumps can be controlled by the DMX Dimmers right? My method of using a DMX Decoder on DC Motor pumps burned the decoder.. I know their not that good but the pumps also consume more than what it said on the listing so I'm scrapping that idea, I really only want something that will work. (Sorry for the long comment)

@@lynda46 Thanks for everything, I'll email you in a few days because I'm going to see if the sump pumps I use have asynchronous motors because I controlled them with servo motors which can still be used but they're rusty because of a piece of metal I believed to be stainless steel (I'm a fool). If the sump pumps have asynchronous motors then my main problem is solved.
@@lynda46 hello, I can't even begin to tell how happy I am to know my trusty sump pumps have assynchronous motors! I got my dmx method to work and now instead of valves ill control the actual pumps, So Good news! :)

Do you want to make a fountain like ours? I can try and help by telling you what we have
THE POOL CONSTRUCTION:
Brick wall, with Liner
2 Tonnes of gravel to hide the cables
IN THE POOL:
Asynchronous submersible pumps (Several brands available)
Nozzles, rotating, fixed, and foaming (Your choice, NONE are water level dependant)
RGB submersible lights. (Our first fountain had lights behind the pool, not in the water)
SOUND:
We have weatherproof speakers near the pool, so you can easily hear the music. (Saves us having to carry out non weatherproof speakers every fountain show, as we used to have to do.)
PHYSICAL CONTROLS:
DMX dimmers to operate the pumps. (As many dimmers as you need, each of ours can run 4 pumps)
DMX light controllers (The more you have the more lighting options you have)
Power supply for each "set" of lights and light controller.
SOFTWARE:
We use ACCESS fountain control software. This choreographs the music, lights and pumps.
Erich Altvater (05:40) who invented it passed away in 2017 so it is no longer available, however there are now several other software programmes that will run fountains. (Search via google)
OTHER:
Cables, boxes and glands to connect it all together, any old computer/laptop to run the software.
COST:
Cost will depend on several factors, how big your pool is (What it is made from) how many pumps, lights and nozzles etc you have, as well as how you control it.
PLEASE NOTE:
Our first fountain was NOT "musical" it had just 4 pumps and was manually operated (We are working on a video for 2023) The fountain you are looking at has evolved over many years, so don't rush yours.

Not going to happen. It took us long enough to find suitable music for a fountain, (Royalty free) it took even longer to do the choreography. All choreography is done manually and each track starts with a "Blank canvas"
