This man is giving premium fighting advice. I can't tell you how many fighting videos where the USE of the move is NEVER broken down. And they don't have very many analogies to show that they actually understand what they're teaching. Idk how great HE fights because I'm still fairly new to the channel. But I'm loving the detailed break down and he explains all of the keys behind the move in a mere 2 mins or so. Which is amazing because there's no fluff, there's no bs. 👌🏾
Do not let his size fool you my cousin was overweight, just like this man, but when he fought, he was knocking out men that was athletic and in shape and taller than him !!!
@@aaronspaulding3679 No but it doesn't matter your martial art, a terrible off balance flat foot stance with improper punching mechanics is not the right way to throw a punch or fight

Im not a boxer but just from noticing the variation of hooks, it seems like its really based on distance. PALM away hooks are for longer range Horizontal and vertical hooks are for closer range, both can work just varies with distance where the vertical hook is tighter. Shovel hooks are the tightest hooks, very deceptive and hard to differentiate from an uppercut.
I have a permanent injury to my wrist because of throwing the hook palms down don’t do it because the moment you hit someone’s head and if you fight enough you will your going to hurt that wrist because it’s not locked straight also when you turn the wrist down you have more range and power
In my teens one of the guys I used to fight only threw punches like that. They are easy to block and dodge but if you got hit, it hurt more than a normal punch. Really it’s best to dodge those because blocking those hits does damage to you.
Punching someone without gloves on and punching them with gloves are completely different thing and gloves allow you to get away with a little bit more pronation in your fist than you normally would in a street situation
@@Las_Vegas_Combat_AcademyDon't forget your knuckles can be messed up if you make contact with teeth! I'd suggest 'open-hand' strikes for self defense over any punch. It's not MMA/boxing, were not trying to 'out-point' them with technique!
Palm down is old school boxing way thats how i learned, but through the years had to reteach myself to throw palms in. I found palms down sometimes you cathch them w the pinky knuckles . Thats how you get boxing fractures. I got two in left hand. With palms in youre more likely to get a clean shot with pointer middle finger knuckles. Left hook is my favorite

Palm down sucks. If you reach at all with it, youre small finger metacarpuls and wrist are fucked without gloves- palm facing you or turned completely over, thumb down, palm down with a hook is the worst way you can possibly throw it- its actually wrong.....
People are literally beaten every single day like beating to death I don't know why people are so obsessed with guns Yes guns are prevalent but people get beaten and hit with objects and fists and things of this nature so you have to train for both
If he was to fight somebody with his knowledge Madison shape he will be in trouble his stomach is too too big to be talking about training and that's what Bruce Lee used to talk about how you going to train and what's your excuse for being fat and out of shape because he is fat I'm not saying he don't know how to fight but boy if he had to go more than 5 minutes he probably be out of breath you see how big his stomach is that's ridiculous play anybody training in any kind of physical fitness what is for fighting or Sports any type of physical fitness conditioning
I don’t disagree about this guy. But looks can be deceiving. Google Rulon Gardner, Tony Guynn, Jerome Bettis, Robert “Tractor” Taylor. Mo Vaughn, John Kruk, George Foreman, Raymond Felton, etc…. The list goes on forever of world class athletes in all types of different sports who don’t “look” the part.

Overweight coaches are always fucking geniuses of whatever sport they’re teaching
What's important is foot placement, the pivot, and hips. Tuck the elbow, don't flare it out.
That telephone analogy is really good. Idk if I've ever heard it put that way, but it's genius

Oooss 🙏🏾

Ok javed
Poatan would disagree. His elbow is always tucked. As it should be at the start of the hook. Flaring the elbow telegraph's the punch
Skeletal alignment also greatly increases punching power

The best analogy for hand/arm position I was taught was like you're drinking out of a coffee mug.
Preach Coach 💪💯💪💯
I have seen Ray Robinson,Ray Leonard and Roy jones throw a half hook, half upper cut to be the most unstoppable hook
Good tips bradda 🤙🏼

I throw jabs with my palm being my fist. Hurts more than a fist, and you won't risk injury if you miss the target
Small knuckle gives more stability as they are aligned with the wrist. Bigger knuckles don't have wrist support. Alex Pierra/Fedor for reference.

Glad to see him use the phone analogy
He's not wrong though and actually admitted to everyone both kind of hooks are proper too many coaches tell the fighters not to throw one or the other

If youre in hook/uppercut range without gloves on then you might as well just use your elbows so you dont have to worry about any of this.
or learn to grapple/clinch fight
I'd like to see this guy teaching in better shape
When I through hooks like a check hook I hit with palm , for me works well like getting hit with a hammer
💯 facts. For a long time I was making that mistake. End result fkd fist 👊🏻

Homer simpson with boxing tips yeah right

Palm facing yourself when you throw a hook. That’s how boxers do it
Always palm towards you you... or you'll break your hand.
Move me out to ur gym from florida…..
Palm facing down you're going to break your wrist ✔️
Palm down will break your hand
There’s no right or wrong. Fist horizontal is Russian style it’s called a “ cast hook”
