Very, very nice! Regarding Shore Acres, I have been there many times during high surf, and it is unequivocally one of the most incredible places on the planet to witness Mother Nature showing off in a non destructive manner. Nowadays when visiting Shore Acres, I shoot nothing but video! I have thousands of gorgeous still shots but they simply cannot convey to the viewer the shear power and “feel” of the wave explosions… and the sound!
You know what I love about you Nick? Its that you stay humble and are not afraid to tell people when you took a bad shot and also not afraid to make fun of yourself for failing over time. Keep up the great work and by the way those wave shots are sick!
Great stuff there "Mr. Page"! LOL!!! I can imagine that would be awkward... I went on a campout with a bunch of guys from the "Bushcraft" community and I noticed that everyone was "star struck" to start with, but soon they realized that they were all just guys doing what each of them enjoyed doing. I don't know why we do that. Great shots! Thanks for sharing!
It’s definitely a journey...but what a fun journey. Thanks for reminding us that we all start at the same place, and mostly advance in our craft relative to the effort we make. Loved the presentation, and loved the pics.
Beautiful photography Nick! I went to a couple of these places about a week and a half after you were there. The beach that the very last photo shown was taken, I left with 3 photos (that I've processed so far) that I want to print large. The waves at the other beach weren't anywhere near as glorious as yours however I put on a telephoto and shot along the other direction of the coastline and have 2 photos I want to print. This was a very productive trip! All I missed out on was shooting was astro and that was from being too tired. Really good skies for it I did enjoy looking at the stars before crawling into my tent.
Awesome video! That was an amazing conference, and it was super fun to hang out with and learn from you and all of the other incredible instructors. Thanks for all of the effort you put in to help it be such a success...it was very much appreciated!
So much fun seeing & hearing about your humble beginnings as a photographer! :) You've come a long way! OMG, the images you captured were all drop-dead gorgeous. I can't imagine seeing waves like those you shot...I just returned from Nags Head and the Atlantic was NOTHING like that!
Amazing photographic subject is water, comes in the form of a gas a liquid and a solid. You have managed to capture some beautiful examples of its liquid state. Thanks for sharing Nick.
Awesome Nick it’s a great that you reminded everyone that we all start at the same level of photography I think that really inspires people to continue to improve there photography
Lovely video documenting an incredible experience! Phenomenal photos too! You don't want to know what I did at Shore Acres.... A thousand photos, one BIG mistake, haha. I left the hat in the car that afternoon, it doomed me!
After all those loyal years of watching your amazng training I am shocked that you never told us that we should also have a "lucky hat". Somthing new or the f64 merch store? Would have been great to join you guys. Did you give the Iowoa lens a workout? - RNR
Very cool Nick. Nice video and I enjoyed watching the live stream the other day. A little warning about Gavin’s attire would have saved my retinas from a severe burn however!
Nice one Nick, keeping it real as usual. Absolutely incredible wave shots, I also loved the shots you created on the beach area. The other guys in the wave shots give the important sense of scale, epic indeed. Cheers.
Loved you showing folk where you came from! That's inspiration right there!! I was going to comment about something at the beginning, but I forgot! Conference looks epic!
Love how you went through you old images. It's important to remember how far you've come. Also, this video makes me want to visit the Oregon coast pretty badly now! Great video man.
Nick those images are awesome. I've seen a lot of people who are very good in the field but not in post-processing or people overdoing it. You have perfect balance and knowledge. It feels like when you design the composition and press the shutter you already know the final outcome. I hope I'll afford one of your workshops before you get too old lol. Take care and keep it man, cheers.
Ok, I am coming to this party a little late, but I was enjoying your presentation at that conference. Any chance we will get to see that full presentation?
I never knew how big of a difference it would make to have quick star rating built into a camera, but once I started shooting with Sony and customizing my C2 button to apply a 5-star rating during image playback, it's saved a ton of time for those spray-and-pray (no ocean pun intended?) situations...
Wow!! Die Fotos der Brandung sind der Wahnsinn! Ich wünschte, ich könnte auch so eine Fotosession erleben! Viel Erfolg weiterhin! Grüße aus Deutschland!
Does anybody know. Wich camera Jordan Inglee is using with the wonderpana filter system? Is it good? I didnt like the nisi system. Looking for something different
I would absolutely LOVE to attend a photography workshop in such a beautiful place. I don't know how so many people can afford it though. I can barely afford to take a 3 day weekend to just stay home. Lol
Hey Nick. Great video and images. Makes me want to add Oregon to my return list but it's a long way to go from Aus :-) Must try and get to one of these conferences in the future. Keep up the great work.
Wow, from that place you can take 2 photos one with wave, mixed with one flat boring very long exposure... all together grayscale image, just like a charcoal painting, just how i imagined the scene in my head
I've noticed on some of your videos on developing your images that you have the lumenzia panel. How much do you use it and how essential it is to your work flow? Amazing wave photo! Sure looked like some people can't seem to stay back behind the barriers but it did emphasize just how big those waves were.
because I use luminosity masks as much as I do (a ton) its a huge part of my workflow, having said that, most luminosity mask panels offer the same functionality in a different appearance. I prefer lumenzia over some of the others just because its smaller, and faster than some of the other panels.... you can create them manually, but it is much much slower. In my opinion, its worth every penny
I think many of your early photos are right there in my Lightroom files, unfortunately being on the east coast I don't have any of your latter photos like that amazing wave. Just a guess but you probably have people swept off those rocks from time to time, it looked like one person was quite close to the action. Did you really tell Gavin to stand there and film, knowing a rogue wave was going to soak him?
Should have had your NRS Boundry socks with you. You have come a long way since that revew. Your last big wave shoot there was with the Canon 5D3 wasntit it? I noted a few of the Sirui tripods in te mix. I a very impressed with our Sirui gear. Have you tried he Tamron 17 28mm. It rocks like the 28 75mm. Didnt you drop a Canon 16 35mm f4 of a cliff a long time ago? Great vid by the way.
Also, this is exactly what my $99 Slik 700DX is for. I don't take my fancy sexy tripods anywhere near salt water if I can avoid it! The Slik 700DX is an insdestructible beast that I just hose off after each beach trip and it's fine.

Amazing, Nick. Great video to wake up to

Such a fun week! Great hangin out with ya Nick!

I really like the images you took. Especially the tiny persons in the shot, to give perspective of how giant the crashing waves are. Well done.
Great video Nick! It is good to see a PNW photographer doing so well!
Powerful sea, fantastic images Nick! Love them :)
Awesome Nick it’s a great that you reminded everyone that we all start at the same level of photography

Just wonderful.. and those pictures you took.. wow! I really wonder what you can do when you shoot land/seascapes where I come from: Indonesia.
Lovely video documenting an incredible experience! Phenomenal photos too! You don't want to know what I did at Shore Acres.... A thousand photos, one BIG mistake, haha. I left the hat in the car that afternoon, it doomed me!

Wow! Those waves crashing the shore are epic! 😲 Never seen such dimensions on photos before! Beautiful - and powerful!
Nice one Nick, keeping it real as usual. Absolutely incredible wave shots, I also loved the shots you created on the beach area. The other guys in the wave shots give the important sense of scale, epic indeed. Cheers.

Great to see you shooting big surf again. How did the A7R4 perform? Did Blake do OK on the day ith his "lucky hat"?
Pretty good, although I soaked my brand new camera and sea salt... never a good thing!
