Very good information! I’m going in for a consult for a revision rhinoplasty/septoplasty and I’m sure they are going to need rib cartilage and possibly the ears as well. During my 1st surgery, I was told after the fact that they had forgotten to get my consent for cartilage grafting and so he had to do the nose the best he could despite not having the cartilage. I was very disappointed that this was overlooked. I was told to be very careful because my nose was very fragile. Now, 17 years later and my nose is crooked again and has morphed in to a strange shape on one side with one nostril getting way larger while the other one is half that size plus the tip looks to be twisting. I’ve been so depressed about how it’s looking as it seems to be changing right before my eyes with me having two completely different sides of my face with me liking the one side and hating the other so I always take pictures from my right 3/4 view. I had a large nose to begin with and then smashed my face and nose in to concrete from a fall straight down on to my nose so it was very crooked and large. I was happy with my first nose job for over 10 years but noticed it starting to change fairly rapidly the last 3-5 years. I’m hoping that my surgeon will be able to get it looking more normal again. I imagine because I already had a septoplasty that there isn’t any usable cartilage left from that area. Thanks for this informative video.

Thank you so much Dr Mike! Your analogy and explanation has made it so easy to understand the difference between the types of cartilages and their characteristics. I was confused before but your video has made it so clear. Thank you!!❤️🙏

Hi thanks so much for posting this! Will rib to support the tip make the nose unnaturally rigid and stiff for life? Or does it soften over time and become flexible like a regular nose?

    Hi Doc
How strong would an ear cartilage side wall support for a deviated septum be with regards to returning to mild contact sports

I am going for a tertiary revision rhinoplasty and I want to bring down the tip (and lengthen the nose a bit). Which cartilage is the best for that between ear and rib?

They would use rib for that. Ear is not strong enough

@@gamesplay8521 My surgeon said he'll use ear cartilage.
