How can a song be so meaningful, so beautiful. Used to listen to as a boy, now the meanings are making me cry. We are just bolts and screws in their machines.,,
I love how even though Rise Against are famous and do get quite a lot of money, they write songs like these speaking about the problems that the lower class end of society faces, and they donate so much of their money to charities and take time out of their own lives to stand up for what's right. I love you RA, never stop making awesome music!
+VeganMotorcyclePilot I believe it's more that we bug them (irritate the people) until they actually do something about it. So by say we crawl all over you and insects in your ears they are meaning to be a pest and will not stop. Go Rise Against!

the title reminds me of But Tonight, we Dance, in the part where Tim says "tomorrow we will sweat and toil, our hands will quiver, caked with soil. tomorrow we'll give it one last chance, but tonight we dance!"

I just LOVE Rise Against. they have meaningful lyrics, not just like others just singing about money, bitches, and their "oh so sad life". RISE AGAINST ROCKS!
This song reminds me so much of someone back home who has tried to bring me down countless times. But in the end, so long as I stand up to anyone like that in my life, then I'll never fail to see that they are nothing compared to me and I need waste no time on them, because in the end, I am the one who crawls all over them.

This video is even more inspiring years down the road from when it was originally made, The members of Rise Against stand as Revolutionary activists for music like this!
People who think this song (or video) calls for violent revolution please listen. It doesn't call upon people to blow stuf up it calls upon goverments to listen to its people and make revolution through peaceful means possible or face the consequences as show in the video, revolution trough violent means.

*Sigh* No need to reply to this. Rise Against is absolutely not promoting and insinuating that people bomb cities for real "change". This video and song is showing what *would* or *could* happen if, for instance, a government, or some other kind of authority, makes extremely rash decisions that are either completely wrong in nature or go against what their country/people may stand for. This kind of behaviour may *provoke* certain people living under that authority to react violently solely because the actions of said authority were just that harsh, especially if it's been happening for a long time. The lyrics "...We bring a dawn long overdue" may imply this. Wouldn't be that surprising if people living under authority like that would feel like they have been *failed* by them. If anything, violent acts of revolution, like bombing, are the last thing people want to happen, especially if people just want things to change for the better. There's a reason they show that quote by John F. Kennedy in the beginning. :/
Yes the video also brings up a another big question. When have you become the evil you fight? The bombers hit civilian buildings it didn't look like there hypothetical enemy was attacked at all. Did these hypothetical revolutionaries kill innocent people in there cross fire. If deadly force is to be used then make sure you have the right target because you won't get a second chance.
Jason Irwin actions like bombings are done soley for attention. gunning down crowds would have been much more destructive if that was the point they were going to do.
Could have easily been corporate buildings. Corporations are soulless conglomerates of evil that cannot be prosecuted but have the ability to buy politicians due to their voluminous capital assets. Kill corporations.
Join, or Die how do plan on kill this evil? By burn there buildings and kill there members or by organizing a movement to end there corruption. Is the corporate 1 percent so evil that you will risk bystanders in the cross fire? In video that bombing was late at night when CEO's and bored members could have left the building. Yes the attack did some damage but nothing major as far as get attention that General public will most likely see that as a terrorist attack and rally behind the government. If you think that a revolution needs extreme violence and bloodshed then your movement will go nowhere. If people in the U.S. want change stop giving every president two terms and stop voting for the same two parties. When the average person stops paying attention to the government's actions is when we lose control.

MAY 2020 - THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS. .. "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable." - JFK .. to the sound of a heartbeat pounding away to the rhythm of the awful rusted machines.. we toss and turn but don't sleep, each breath we take makes us thieves.. we don't live , we just survive.. we wait to reap what we are due .. to the rhythm of a time bomb ticking away .. look now at what they've done to you .. the engine roars and then it gives but never dies cuz we don't live we just survive on the scraps that you throw away .. i won't crawl on my knees for you, i won't believe the lies that hide the truth . i won't sweat one more drop for you. cuz we are the rust upon your gears, we are the insect in your ears.. under this sky no longer blue, we bring the dawn long over due, we crawl all over you.
RA philosophy is responsible for the death of at least 100 million during the 20th century. If you're rejecting meritocracy, then don't do it in reverence of commie nonsense.
I think this video would have been better if it had a twist at the end... the packages we not bombs but food parcels and each location was a daytime homeless begging spot. Perhaps would work better on a different song..
10 років тому+5
But their point is that when the powers that be don't allow peaceful revolution they are opening the floodgates to violent revolution... Your idea is nice but clearly not what they meant to convey.
That doesn't really mesh with the meaning of the song, it's not about how we don't have enough but about how some are hogging it all, specifically the rich who work us too hard and reap the rewards.
I remember watching this video on MTV when it first dropped in 2008. Shortly after that, I was in Hot Topic flipping through the CD's (remember when HT had cds?!?) And that day, I went home with Bring Me The Horizon's 'Count Your Blessings' & 'Suicide Season'... Attack Attack's 'Someday Came Suddenly'...TOOL'S '10,000 Days'...Norma Jean's 'Bless The Martyr Kiss The Child'... Stone Temple Pilots 'Thank You'... And Rise Against's 'Appeal To Reason'... Now, ask me how I can remember details from one shopping trip 16 years ago, but nothing comes to mind about last week? Idk. But yeah. This song is neat.
That is why the quote is there. It is showing what will happen if a peaceful solution is made. It says in the constitution that if the government becomes corrupt, it is the citizens job to abolish said government. This is suppose to be a nation ruled by the people, and it will be, wether by politics or force. It's the governments choice.
I do not like spamming the same as you do, however make yourself a favor check it out *watch?v=el3cHidIiAU* Awesome music! Find the youtube video URL provided
Your laundry; was magically cleaned. And your dad's back pocket was an ATM machine. Your life's biggest worry; was what to wear to the prom. And your only regret was that incident - with the stinkbomb. But, do you hear that subtle sound? it's the sound of reality about to slap the taste out yo' mouth! (Now) You're on your own Don't screw this up. You're on your own. Good luck. (You're gonna need it.)
In a surprise plot-twist, they bombed civilian areas with an intermediate to high casualty rate, and almost none of them were government targets. Whoops.

This song is what introduced me to Rise Against all those years ago, and it's still one of my favorite songs. If only more people had this mentality.

Text
To the sound of a heartbeat pounding away
To the rhythm of the awful rusted machines
We toss and turn but don't sleep
Each breath we take makes us thieves
Like causes without rebels
Just talk but promise nothing else
We crawl on our knees for you
Under a sky no longer blue
We sweat all day long for you
But we sow seeds to see us through
But sometimes dreams just don't come true
We wait to reap what we are due
To the rhythm of a time bomb ticking away
And the blare of the sirens combing the streets
Chased down like dogs we run from
Your grasp until the sun comes up
We crawl on our knees for you
Under a sky no longer blue
We sweat all day long for you
But we sow seeds to see us through
But sometimes dreams just don't come true
Look now at what they've done to you
White needles buried in the red
The engine roars and then it gives
But never dies
'Cause we don't live
We just survive
On the scraps that you throw away
I won't crawl on my knees for you
I won't believe the lies that hide the truth
I won't sweat one more drop for you
Cause we are the rust upon your gears
We are the insect in your ears
We crawl
We crawl
We crawl, all over you
We sow the seeds to see us through
Our days are precious and so few
We all reap what we are due
Under this sky no longer blue
We bring the dawn all over new
We crawl
We crawl
We crawl, all over you

try look for ''Rise Against - Re-Education (Through Labor) (UNCENSORED)''
ana leal Just the public one use to have it, and UA-cam censored it. Kind of crazy to me.
This is how we lose our world. It's irony because this song is also about it.
Bolek Bo we can make a better world.
We could be halfway to Star Trek by now,but thugs force us to play Monopoly in order to SURVIVE.
Bolek Bo Research a Resource Based Economy as proposed by The Venus Project.
LOVE THIS FUCKING SONG!!!!!!!!!!
can't wait to see you in person!!!! favorite band by far
Stacy, I agree. Feels very relevant right now, especially in the states
indeed
Does that mean you want to go out and bomb innocent people who don't share your political views?
@@johndutton5881 no, but I’ll take their money from them. It’s what they care about most and will send the only message they’ll hear. #GME #AMC
My heart goes out to the Uyghur people who are currently being enslaved in "re-education" camps by the Chinese Communist Party. We stand with you!
How does this support them they can't see it can they
I think this video would have been better if it had a twist at the end... the packages we not bombs but food parcels and each location was a daytime homeless begging spot. Perhaps would work better on a different song..
When he strarts to sing it gives me chills!!!
Who's still listening in 2020??
If you'd like an awesome spin on this one here, crank it to 1.25 speed. It's perfect as it is nontheless.
Anarcho-Syndicalism tho...
"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."
Anyone else find that this video is like "hey, don't like something? Blow it up like a terrorist"? I love the song tho.
That is why the quote is there. It is showing what will happen if a peaceful solution is made. It says in the constitution that if the government becomes corrupt, it is the citizens job to abolish said government. This is suppose to be a nation ruled by the people, and it will be, wether by politics or force. It's the governments choice.
Devon Hess basically, Government forces all of us becoming anarcho-capitists

Your laundry; was magically cleaned. And your dad's back pocket was an ATM machine. Your life's biggest worry; was what to wear to the prom. And your only regret was that incident - with the stinkbomb. But, do you hear that subtle sound? it's the sound of reality about to slap the taste out yo' mouth! (Now) You're on your own Don't screw this up. You're on your own. Good luck. (You're gonna need it.)
This seems like a really cool story plot.
Fight Club.
In a surprise plot-twist, they bombed civilian areas with an intermediate to high casualty rate, and almost none of them were government targets. Whoops.
Stumbled upon the song 10 minutes ago. Super nice.
