Maybe he was referring to Jose Cotto rocking Canelo with a left hook back in 2009.
Freddie, hoping that the left hook is the key to win the fight for Munguia? Alright, but don't forget to constantly land to the body if you're hoping for a stoppage! Be smart, dangerous and impetuous! Don't mess the fight by hitting the air stupidly in trying to find a moving target! Kill that body man! That's what GGG forgot to go for, and don't tell me about Canelo's counters. That's BS. When GGG finally decided to go to the body (still gun shy whe he did, but...), he landed without ANY problems. The openings were there. The conviction to make Canelo spit his liver was not there though. (See fight #2 round 4 or 5)
I agree. Canelo has terrible stamina already. If Mungia can manage to not get hurt in 8, he can def slow and break Canelo down in the last 4 and get a stoppage
Canelo is definitely vulnerable to the left hook, that's why I believe prime De La Hoya would have schooled Canelo, since Oscar was a lefty fighting in orthodox. Hower, Canelo's greatest weakness is absolutely the jab, because of his high guard, and his fights against GGG and Bivol proved that. Canelo is flat footed, and he likes to plant his feet and load up on all his hooks. That's where his power comes from, because he's putting his whole body into those. The weakness is that small pause that comes from loading his hooks. His opponent needs to just quickly step forward and throw that stiff jab, or a cross, to stun Canelo midway from launching his hook.
It's not like Freddy is discovering or pointing out something new, these things are obvious. It's about being abe to get through even though he does, and then once you do get through, which many fighters do, then you have to worry after he takes your best punch and keeps coming at you, the question is can you handle his punches and for how long.

Jaime is a strong kid though. He gets better at defense he will be on top eventually after CANELO leaves. This was a big lesson for him tonight.

Freddy won't beat Canelo, his training style is tailored made for Canelo to win.
A coach is only as good as his fighter.
Freddie is my favorite trainer and I'm quite sure he has done the best he could with a fighter like Munguia. But Freddie is an offense first guy. He believes that you can win every fight with offense. As such, Munguia, who already is lacking in defense and has a poweful offense, may not have benefitted greatly from Freddie's style of training. I just see Canelo taking Munguia apart and knocking him out by the 3rd to 4th round. If GGG and Bivol's punches did not affect Canelo then Munguia's not overly skilled power will not hurt Canelo. For Freddie's sake I'd love to see Munguia win. But, just don't think so.
The only thing that could stop canelo is age, but the charlo fight showed he still has it. He hasn't lost his prime i believe .

Unfortunately this fight was a lesson for Mungia. Experience was key. And Canelo has never been knocked down by tye way.
It's very difficult to get a UD win vs Canelo even if you dominate him. A close fight goes to Canelo as the star, so Mungia needs a few KDs for a decision if not a KO. Canelo can be hurt to the body(hard to hit his head given his good head movement) and Mungia is a good body puncher. Mungia has to take the fight to Canelo. Mungia can win,but Canelo will likely win!
Bivol proved it wasn’t but Munguia isn’t Bivol so prep for him being stopped by the king on Saturday
Canelo is up on the cards by 4 or 5 rounds before he walks in the ring.

I have a lot respect for coach Freddie but i think he's only collecting a pay check, I like Munguia but he wont last, this fight is like JMM vs juan baby bull he did good damage in the first rounds but as soon as he was touch everything went down hill, and I don't care how wins, i just hope is a good fight.
