Thanks for the video. Do you know if there is a way to convert from the older style control cables to the newer style? Newer cables can come as ultra flexible down to a 4" turn radius that would help a lot with my layout.
Question, I though that when control was in neutral that the pin on switch would be depressed. I know you stated make sure handle was in neutral, but looking at the video, it doesn't look like it is. Maybe I am wrong.
John I'm hoping you can help me out. I have twin yamaha's and my forward controls are not opening the throttles at the same rate. They start out fine at first but then the more you give it gas the larger the discrepancy between throttles. When I run at high speed the right handle has to be more forward that the left for both engines to have the same rpm. I thought at first that the throttle/cable parts/levers on the outboards could be loose or worn out. But they are fine. Both have been synchronized at neutral and at idle. Both idle at 700 rpm.
@@masterblasterextreme Hi John. Thank you for your response! My engines are fuel injected. But regardless I'm positive that it is not a problem of one motor running better than the other. I'll try to explain: (Sorry for the long post but this is quite difficult to convey in a text message, I'll do my best) The problem is at mid range. The binicals are not consistently opening the throttles at the same rate as I push the handles forward. They start out consistent up until they reach 2.5k rpm. After that point the discrepancy starts and the rpms get further and further apart as I move up the handles. To the point were one engine will be at 3.5k and the other at 5k with the handles at par with each other. I have visually inspected and measured the throttle openings between the idle screw and the stopper on both engines with the handles at par to each other at different positions in the mid range and I have confirmed that one is progressively opening more than the other. Again, at idle up to 2.5k they are the same, and at full throttle they are the same. But in between that range they open at different rates. If I want to run at 4k or 4.5k the levers have to be significantly at an offset, with one almost a full handle grip length further out than the other. What could be causing this? Wear in the binical? Wear in the throttle levers? (But I have checked them and don't show wear and all parts are identical) I am very puzzled by this. Please let me know what you think. Thank you!!

John, I wonder if you can advise me more on the Idle Lever side. I'm having an issue where it is either all out or all off, seem like it sticks or something. Partway up doesn't do anything, then a little further and it's full blast. Bringing it down, it stays that way to a point then seems to suddenly bring the idle all the way down.
@@goldeneyewiionlineplayer1828 Pretty sure no kinks. I thought it was probably in the control, but someone else suggested that the end of the cable by the engine, the grease sometimes gets "gluey." I guess I have a few things to check. Thanks so much for the quick reply!
Yes. I did not reinstall them because I was selling the controls to a guy that did not need cables. But your right, I should of reinstalled the cables to bring the video full circle. Thx!
john Fishandboat I am just finishing installing a new ignition switch in my controller and getting it all back together.. probably should paint it too...it's from a 1982 Evinrude 35 HP.. cheers

Thank you for this , very helpful
What is the round black cylinder right above the key? Thanks
Wot, no cables put back?

I lost those 2 pins you pulled out where can I find those or what do I ask for??
the lever in neutral and I have no manual throttle handling, I go up to the maximum and it does not accelerate
My fast idle lever does not seem to be working properly, I think I'll need to take apart and service
Do you need the back cover for it to work properly
Where does the kill switch plug in?????

Hi John, I would try throughly cleaning the carb on the engine that is slow. Also, check the fuel lines to make sure thay are not worn. Thx!

Did you use any stripper for old removal? Looked like you just sanded with WD40? Then prime? Thanks.
No stripper used. Just wet sanded it down.
What did you degrease it with looks nice after you were done
I used Greased Lighting Blast. Thx!

Hey Hank, Sounds like it is sticking somewhere in the movement either at the controls or thw engine, or you may have a kink in the cable. Good luck!

You forgot the cable??
Looking for a part an u help
EXCELENT
What about your cables?
The cables were in good condition. I just wiped them down with warm dishsoap to make them look newish.
john Fishandboat actually I meant u didn't install them again in video..lol
