+SeaBiscuit why not have both? UA-cam videos can be a great supplement to review or even go more in depth into the content, depending on where you're at in your educational career. There's no substitute, however, for an expert in the classroom who facilitates learning for his or her students. The ability to foster connections and clear students' misconceptions on the spot are profoundly useful.

John green taught me books can make me even more depressed than I thought and Hank Green made me realize biology is cool which inevitably made me realize I want to be a forensic scientist. Thank you Hank
Great way to get ahead so I can make it into honors bio. Crash course is absolutely fantastic. It's essentially free school. And better school too! It's gets to the point and isn't all information. Its fun, quick, and educational. You've done something amazing here, Hank!

I am here to have some diversity in my subjects so that i can do something with the ELEVEN(!) years that i will have spent on elementary, middle, and high school. If either of you are interested in going to college, (maybe you already are...?) then i would recommend that you study your subjects as much as you can and take a CLEP exam so that you do not have to take the same classes in college as you did in high school and if you pass then you will be granted college level credits in whichever subject you chose. Or just take the 9 credits per semester, in college, that is allowed. Bye people
I know this was 4 months ago but I have my first AP bio test tomorrow and he is explaining way better than my bio book and teacher who didn't even give us a study guide. I am watching all of these until I understand biology lol.
My intro to biology teacher is near retirement, makes learning the subject a drag, makes us do online homework so she doesn't have to do the work and I thought I wouldn't get the A I was hoping for.. Except I stumbled upon this channel, thank God for the internet.
Hey there Crash Course. I'd just like to say that all of these videos you guys produce are unbelievable and completely amazing. They help me so much in school, I'm a grade 10 student in South Africa by the way, and subjects that I sadly wasn't able to take during school like history I can still keep up with here, and things like psychology that aren't treated as an official subject during school but that are so interesting are also available to people like me! Thank you to the whole Crash Course team!
Arabella Ingham Hey!! reading your comment inspired me to do better! I am currently procrastinating, so gotta go! Lol Keep up the good Work! study hard! Sending my support from Asia!

I can't not say Hi to a fellow South African! But I've only discovered these videos and I'm watching them merely to extend my knowledge as I didn't do Biology. This individual is an amazing teacher
I just wanted to thank y'all at Crash Course for this biology series!! Last year I had to take a state biology test that is a part of a series of tests that are mandatory to pass to get your high school diploma. I decided to watch these biology vids to help prep because I wasn't feeling prepared enough. It ended up that a big section of the test was on a topic we didn't go over in class but I had watched Crash Course vids about it. Anyway I just recently found out that I did pass my test!!!! So just thank you guys so much!! I don't know if I would've made it through my test if it wasn't for these vids!!!😃😃👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I was a good student, yet my teacher couldn't barely elaborate on the questions we asked him because he couldn't understand the full range of the English language, so basically learning in my time was, open a book, copy the text in your own words and any questions he would attempt to answer as best as he could. Basically computer lab was my best friend, don't get me wrong this was most classes. I totally understand how it would take 8 weeks to learn 8 things in school lol.
John Napier hence, crash course. There are plenty of UA-cam resources for people wanting to get more in depth into the topics! In fact I wish I had this resource in high school, I might have found biology a bit more interesting back then

Im not sure if you guys read your comments but its finals week and i wanted to thank both of you for helping me with both my worlds religions class and biology class. both of you have that charisma to make your viewers want to pay attention. you both have a skill to make these topics that would (to most) be very boring to learn and made them very exciting as they should be. thank you so much for doing what you do. you have helped me pass all my tests :) and made learning these very complicated subjects very easy. thank you so much
Me right now XD Somehow he makes it easy to remember things, even though I remember things my professor taught us. Guess it depends on what part of the chapters.
WAIT HOLD UP Chemistry is the level below biology? THATS Y I FELT LOST DURING MY BIOLOGY COURSE CUZ I TOOK BIO IN 9th GRADE AND IN 10th GRADE IM TAKING CHEMISTRY so should I like... Look at crash course chem first?
most schools teach biology first before chemistry. i wouldn't worry about it too much. it's just good to know some basics of chemistry to understand chemical reactions that occur in the body. i would say chemistry is more important to biology than biology to chemistry(at least in the high school classes, arguably in reality as well)
In most colleges, Chemistry (general chem), is a pre-req of Biology. The things you do in Biology shouldnt really rely TOO much on Chem though... I mean maybe a few things.
+Kyle Beatty yeah, I'm in college and am taking Bio first and trying to avoid chem. Chem is just one chapter in the whole Bio book and is really only the basics learned in high school
Stacy Windham lol good luck. I mean it's not impossible but it's harder. In my college chem is a pre req for bio. Bio talks about the bodys elements as well as their makeup, electronegativity, etc. Stuff that will be harder if you don't have the chem background.
I thought it was very important to write down what he said "Like any good 50 cent song, biology is just about sex not dying". My brain is already getting bigger because of that information!
Revolutionary teaching. I love crash course. :) Also, I remember everyone in 2012 deciding that the goatee wasn't a good look for Hank, but I kind of like it here. It might be the lighting....
THANK YOU SO MUCH, CRASH COURSES AND HANK! You guys have made me love learning so much more and I listen frequently and with great interest to these videos. Bless you! The ending was also great lol
I never thought learning about carbon could be so interesting! Thanks for breaking it down in such a simple way. Can't wait to dive deeper into the world of biology with Crash Course!
Great Video. When I was doing biology at school, I used to see it as a subject which just has to be crammed by heart. After all these years and completing my medical school, I now know the importance of understanding concepts.
That's what the most successful sci-fi writers do/have done, including the ones that have inspired scientific creations themselves. The more scientifically accurate a story is, the more believable it is for the reader.
Man it's been 16 years since I backed out from school. Probably alot longer since actually being taught these methods. It took me about an hour of studying this but man I got i think I got this first lesson down packed. All thanks to this man. You probably saving my life here. Whatever that's worth 😳😅🤩
"Even the sexiest person you have ever met in your life is just a collection of organic compounds rambling aorund in a sack of water." Thank you for convincing me not to get back on Tinder.
I have a fantastic Bio teacher at Uni (really passionate about the subject), but this channel has been insanely helpful when it comes to the animated visuals. I can't thank you enough.

Or humans in general tbh
😂 I’ll try to think of that but I’ll probably be too intimidated to anyway.
Ah, that's my second favourite quote.
I didn't think that I'd end up laughing at attractive people because of a science statement but here we are
lmao that is so relatible
My new flirting line:

Oh my gosh, he/she will LOOVE you when you say that (not), lol, best flirting line XD

most schools teach biology first before chemistry. i wouldn't worry about it too much. it's just good to know some basics of chemistry to understand chemical reactions that occur in the body. i would say chemistry is more important to biology than biology to chemistry(at least in the high school classes, arguably in reality as well)
In most colleges, Chemistry (general chem), is a pre-req of Biology. The things you do in Biology shouldnt really rely TOO much on Chem though... I mean maybe a few things.
Chem is lower than bio? Waaaa...? Why is bio easier then? 😮😮😮
Stuff that will be harder if you don't have the chem background.
wouldve been way awesomer if hank called carbon a pimp.
+michael benzur The title is a reference to a Frank Sinatra song. Still would be funny though
+michael benzur agreed
I thought it was very important to write down what he said "Like any good 50 cent song, biology is just about sex not dying". My brain is already getting bigger because of that information!
It'd be great if there was a course on physics
The collective Hank molecule has definitely been bonding with some THC...
Was thinking the same thing
LMAO nerds unite!!!
Oh my gosh; watching this Low-Key Hank after finishing Crash Course Chemistry is pleasantly weird.

"Good lord, i'm in a chair" - still gets me in 2017
Revolutionary teaching. I love crash course. :) Also, I remember everyone in 2012 deciding that the goatee wasn't a good look for Hank, but I kind of like it here. It might be the lighting....
hank's 2012 goatee gives me life
REVOLUTIONARY!!!
Hank is like sleepy and tired but I love the video.
Ap test Monday, time to relearn everything in 2 days. Crunch time!!!
saaaaaame
Better yet time to LEARN everything in 2 days, bruh, I haven't learned anything this yearrrrr😩
Ariel Forte HAH same
Noelle Morgan MOOD
Thank you Hank Green, you make biology sound cool
I once had to watch this for school but since I procrastinated I had no time so I set the speed 1.5 so I could quickly watch it.
i set the speed to 2 for everything
Speeding it up just changes how fast he talks not how fast the video takes
Kiren Rashid that's just so not true.
It is true lol, the video still takes the same time to finish
Kiren Rashid no it's literally 100% not true... How could it go faster and stay the same?... It can't...
I'm a college student and this man teaches me better than my professor. We just write notes everyday and there is no hype class discussions.
Great Video. When I was doing biology at school, I used to see it as a subject which just has to be crammed by heart. After all these years and completing my medical school, I now know the importance of understanding concepts.
It’s 2022 and 10 years later I’m still referring back to this video every time I study for a test.
Is it weird that my main driving force for learning biology is to create original, and yet plausible, races for the fantasy books I want to write?
That may be the most amazing thing I've read all week. I wish I could meet you in real life.
That's what the most successful sci-fi writers do/have done, including the ones that have inspired scientific creations themselves. The more scientifically accurate a story is, the more believable it is for the reader.
I think I'm worse.... I'm watching this to make biologically plausible pokemon...
That is a totally valid reason :D
Quinlan Davenport God, just don't make another garbage Pokémon. Not that they're biologically plausible...
Back in the day I got a full score on SAT Bio thanks to this series
OMG after a year of Chemistry, I came to this video and I was like is this another brother
This after watching the latest Philosophy video about how people aren't the same from year to year. I welcome Low-Key Hank
lmao I have my bio final tomorrow. time to watch the whole biology playlistt
Lol we're in the struggle together
leah I hope you aced it
Man it's been 16 years since I backed out from school. Probably alot longer since actually being taught these methods. It took me about an hour of studying this but man I got i think I got this first lesson down packed. All thanks to this man. You probably saving my life here. Whatever that's worth 😳😅🤩
I so desperately want you guys to make flashcards on this series!
"Even the sexiest person you have ever met in your life is just a collection of organic compounds rambling aorund in a sack of water."
Thank you for convincing me not to get back on Tinder.
Good lord, I'm in a chair.
Watching this video.
He is so great w explanations man! Smh i love it
I have a fantastic Bio teacher at Uni (really passionate about the subject), but this channel has been insanely helpful when it comes to the animated visuals. I can't thank you enough.
When we get to finally discover the means of time travel, first thing I'm gonna do is to give Gilbert Lewis a hug -- whether he likes it or not.
i just finished tfios
and i realized
you’re john green’s brother
that is the bestest realization. but yeah thats why they do vlogbrothers together
who's john green?
My biology teacher told me to watch this as homework
Awesome Homework!
It's so helpful! I'm an interpreter and no books teach such words and word forms.
I know all of this in my native language, but in English....
Lewis is like the diCaprio of science
i thought the same thing :P
