I'm a Brit and recovering alcoholic. Massive misunderstanding of alcohol abuse on here. It's not about how much you drink it's what happens to you when you have a drink. I've been hospitalized over 10 times, been in rehab, to over 200 AA meetings and kinda know my shit on this subject. It is a big part of the Brit culture. Growing up you learn that Friday and Saturday nights you get wankered. It could be lads night or out with your bird but it's what we do. We're doing Brexit ... why would you even contemplate sobriety ?? So in any provincial town in the UK at the weekend you will see female casualties of the night out. It's worse in the cities. Sadly it's what we do.
They've showed how Brits go out and their PLAN is to ALWAYS get wasted, like "this is our culture." The U.S. is also somewhat known for that but more & more people these days realize "I've got to stop doing this to myself." I first began to have a realization when I started to need a lot MORE to get the same high. And if you're depressed and get drunk that makes the feeling WORSE. Eventually sticking with meetings and committing gets you on the road, your thinking starts changing about it. With enough time I realized if I don't commit to MYSELF that I'm not picking it up again, it doesn't work expecting someone/thing outside you to keep you sober on into the future. #GratefulToBeSober
he has a book to sell. Be fair now. he has to trot out the whole thing about I was an alcoholic and was divorced etc etc. saying he is a privileged individual won’t sell the books and he has to target the revenue.
anything to promote his book … poor me i was split up from my wife for a while and did a bit of extra drinking…. in a recent interview he told how he shoved older folks aside all his life but now he try’s to say hello. lovely guy.
A drink problem is a drink problem when drinking becomes a problem. This is what he was doing. You don't have to drink all day, every day. Doing a bottle of wine at 10am is a problem.
I love the Brits, but how would a Brit even know they have a drink problem, seeing as how 99.9 percent of them drink way too much all the time as it is. All they do is drink..and us North Americans have drinks as well, but Brits oh man they just drink and drink and drink til they are passed out on the streets, even the girls.. It is like a way of life, passed down from generation to generation.
rhymeandreasoning I'd love to argue this but I cant - we LOVE to binge in the UK, I see it in all the generations, old folk in the gastro-pubs at 9am. Kids as young as 11-12 drinking on the street, literally everyone loves a binge be it booze, bud or whatever else.
I think it's more the fact he used a bottle of wine to cure boredom and he realised how much worse that could've got

It’s not good at all. Quite frightening.
Wish I’d realized what I was doing and stayed clear of it.

saying he is a privileged individual won’t sell the books and he has to target the revenue.
IN THE MORNING? That is alcoholism.
wow, so he had 4 bottles of wine in a month and that's a drink problem?? I need fucking help then!
Me too
One bottle of wine a week? His problem is most Brits version of cutting down.
Yep. Kenny Sansom had a binge drinking problem, not John Bishop
Fuckin hell m8, give me a hug. I do 4 courts a day. Used to do a bottle each morn but now i'm good... now it's just about 3-4 courts a night.
Quarts.
His accent is funny. I'm from Liverpool, but I don't speak like him. My accent looks like more with the Beatles.
It’s cos he’s from Kirby. He’s got that kind of accent
Brummie isn't he?
John bishop amazing fella and his drinking became he thought the world off his kid however he is over it now 👍
One bottle of wine on a Monday for five weeks is not a drink problem.
You ignored IN THE MORNING.
He can lap dance on me, anytime.
anything to promote his book … poor me i was split up from my wife for a while and did a bit of extra drinking….
in a recent interview he told how he shoved older folks aside all his life but now he try’s to say hello. lovely guy.
Thats not a drink problem....
A bottle of wine at ten o'clock in the morning mingled with work is deffo a problem.

What about North Americans, fat, brain washed, arrogant and largely stupid.
Is it just me, or does this guy resemble a young Barry Gibb?
