Absolutely Ms. Judy! 🤗🤗🙏🙏. We've all learned so much from y'all! You have such big hearts for your family, your land, your life, and for your animals. We all make mistakes and don't listen to our guts when we should. I'm so sorry for your loss. Like us, you're still learning too ❤️. You're so amazing. I'm sorry for your pain. God bless 🙏

Zach, I just looked at the title and looked at your face and pause the video so I'm not even one second into the video, and I just want to say that YOU and JEN ARE EXCELLENT FARMERS, and I know this video was put out several days ago and I'm just now getting around to seeing it, and I hope you're still not dwelling on whatever happened. I'm 58 now and I learned when I was a teenager that it's not what happens to you, it's how you DEAL with what HAPPENS to you, that determines your fate AND future!
You'll learn from this and will still love you and support you guys in your endeavors because you guys are an amazing family and you are an amazing farmer!

My gut instinct said I shouldn't get into a medical transport driver's car. A few hours later he hit a highway divider at my head where I was lying down after back surgery. Injuries - traumatic brain injury, broken neck, torn vertebral artery causing blood clot to cerebellum causing stroke, broken ribs and nose, scalp lacerations. Listen to that "still small voice" please.

It is spring and ironically Easter when we remember the death of our Savior and celebrate His resurrection and the new life we have in Him!! Living on a farm can be so hard especially when we do faithfully care for those in our charge. 🐐May the Lord bless you with healing and celebrate the little ones in your care- you both are so loving! Happy Easter✝️💐

I love the Stivers Family. And yes, Follow your instincts. Take accountability. My animals always came first, I needed them to help my family, Milk, Butter, Soap, eggs, and yes meat. And not to forget the garden. The work is hard, unforgiving but with God's help, Love and his watchful eye, it was worth the sacrifices. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I appreciate that you do care about your animals and that you are real with us your viewers. So many UA-camrs would hide bad times, and basically be fake. I appreciate this so much. I am new to having farm animals (chickens) and we recently lost one that was 6 months old. I was upset we only had 5 egg layers and her name was Becky. It taught me a lot about what emergency plans I need to have in place and what I was willing to do to save an animal in my care. Honestly, you could have went either way with this. In nature, the weak generally do not survive but I also understand wanting to have every animal make it. I am sending you all good vibes and no judgement, here's to learning experiences.

Zach, I’m so sorry that you are hurting. I want you to know that often times runts have something else wrong with them. I grew up on a farm and have bottle fed runts. Some didn’t make it anyway. Maybe the baby would have made it but there is a good chance it wouldn’t have. Big hugs!

I haven't followed you long. Not even sure how I came across you. But it was your genuine honesty and kindness
that made me want to subscribe and come back regularly to see how your family is doing and what you are all up to. I'm truly sorry your family is going through this. I thank you for being open, honest and caring about it. It takes strength. People need to see that kind of strength. If I could say it this way, it's a good witness.
But as you go along now, let guilt go by the wayside and be replaced with conviction. It'll do you good. Guilt won't.
God bless you and comfort you.

Having livestock is a tough road, there are highs and lows. Life throws us curve balls and sometimes we miss the clues and we rethink our choices. Life goes on and next time you will act and have the experience to draw from which means we continue to learn. Those who throw stones are not worth a second thought. Born and raised on a working milking and grain farm. So I cast no stones.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through this. Thank you for sharing this terrible experience with us. As a budding homesteader I recently struggled with a tough loss of my chicken. The sadness and guilt had me questioning my ability to care for bigger farm animals. In reality I did everything I knew how to do to care for my sick bird. I know i would be heartbroken to experience what you've just been through, but hearing your story gives me hope that I will be strong enough if/when tragedy strikes at a larger scale. Thank you for sharing.

Awww Zack, so so sorry. Thank you for your honesty. I had to put a hen out of her misery last week. She’d been sick, took her to the vet to make sure it wasn’t the you know what-and it wasn’t. Gave her meds for 7 days. Had to keep her in solitary cuz we couldn’t eat any eggs from her for 30 days after the the end of her round of meds. She started going down hill-I realized that I had made a horrid mistake of putting too small a waterer in her pen-she couldn’t get her beak far enough in the water to drink. I’d given her a smaller water setup so she’s have more room to move around. I immediately started giving her more water through a syringe. She rallied, for a few days, and then went downhill fast. When I found her on her side feet up in the air, and her head hanging out of the cage, it broke my heart. I gently picked her up, and could see that the other chickens had pecked on her a little. She was still alive but shivering. She laid her head on my chest and closed her eyes. I wrapped her in a towel and held her till she quit shivering. Then I humanely sent her to animal heaven. It’s so hard when we truly care…. We want our animals to have the best life possible…
I just barely got home from driving 4 hours to pick up a used goat milking stand. I’m still sitting in my pickup in the wind, hail, sleet, snow and rain; watching your video; and crying for your loss.
I am getting ready to delve into milk goats (2)! I’ve never had them, never milked one-don’t know anything about it, but trying to learn all I can.
    Hugs to you all.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I needed to hear this. We found one of our babies Sunday afternoon after getting home from Easter celebrations. She had just turned a year old in March, our buck had gotten a hold of her a few weeks ago and now she is gone. We checked her over there was no signs of trauma or anything else. We called the vet to ask questions and he really didn't have anything. All we can figure is the night she stayed out last weekend she got wet and cold and probably ended up with a chill that we didn't catch in time. We are heartbroken. I am so sorry for your loss but thank you for sharing.

Anyone that would leave a negative comment is someone who hasn't been in the exact same position. My first season at a sheep ranch I learned the same lesson exactly from a mama that had triplets and the sweet little black baby lamb didn't make it. It was my first time I didn't know enough no one taught me and I also had to mourn that sweet little thing that I was so attached to instantly. I'm so sorry for your loss. It was wonderful and exciting being thrown into the position of working that ranch after just a few days of learning the basics like a dream come true. I learned real quick there's a lot more to it and some lessons don't get taught until you come across them.

We've had deaths on our homestead too. We've cried over each one too. We have an area where we bury our livestock that passed on from old age or our own failures. They're here with us still, named too. Love everyone of our livestock babies! Old to the young! It's hard! I'm sorry you're going through this.

Hey Zach, I am a new subscriber from Country Victoria in Australia. I found you guys on UA-cam a few days ago and have been watching every time I sit down for a cuppa. The realness that you and your wife bring is so humbling and beautiful. I hope you never stop to sharing based on the few that have nothing better to do with there time. You have definitely had an impact on me and I look forward to watching your spring days come as we are headed into winter. God bless.

Aw I am so sorry. I always feel so responsible when an animal dies. Next time you will know that you need to do what you feel in your gut and don't worry about what others may think. You guys care so much for all of your animals. Heck, you even gave Charlie every opportunity to do better.

Thank y'all for being real and kind enough to pass on the needed knowledge through your experiences at the best of times and even more precious the sharing of the reality that it's not always "just nature" in the great hopefulness that NO ONE has to ever feel the way these things cause us to HURT! I have been in this same situation (another animal) and I didn't listen to my gut and afterwards I felt like I had been kicked in my gut. (I was guilt ridden 😪) It is so hard sometimes but we have to stay as strong as possible, because like you, and most others in this same position, I had more animals that I was responsible for and they counted on me for keeping them maintained and I now know that they were a big part of what got me through the process ❤. I pray that this video sticks with whoever may be faced with a similar or same situation, and keeps them from any possible grief or regrets ❤.
Y'all are in my thoughts and prayers for comfort. I love y'all and God bless.

Zach it's hard yes, you are not the only ones who have missed the following your gut nor will you be the last. Thank you for being honest, your grief over what happened is fully noticed. Please grieve the loss and pick yourselves back up. Prayers for your family during this time.

No matter how long you've raised animals, there is always going to be lessons to learn everyday. After 30 yrs of raising goats, I just recently lost my beautiful Nubian milker "Mabel". She was fine one minute, and after one hard push she died. Don't know what I could have done differently, but still feel the guilt of obviously not doing all that I should have. Don't continue to beat yourselves up because you've gained some valuable experience even though heartbreaking! Thoughts and prayers sent your way.😢❤🙏

It's so easy to judge from the sidelines. Understandably, you see it as "failure". Don't be too hard on yourself and leave the hateful comments for what they are. We all make the wrong choice sometimes, not listening enough to our inner voice. Your openness and honesty about what is happening on your farm is to your credit. I sympathize with your loss. Stay who you are and what you stand for. 💞
