As a swimmer in school and in military, this is alot better than training on land
At least it's quieter
It's life or death as it should whenever u workout
Most people can ruck all day long it just sucks. Water is the great equalizer
Your in school and military??
Why?
The second dude needs to save some lats for the rest of us
That's teres major
Got that Dorito build
@@RussiAashiq lol I know… but who gives a shit.. if you want to be 100 accurate it’s the Teres Major and Infraspinatus… but nobody gives a shit and everybody knows exactly what I’m talking about.. if a said “save some Teres Major and infraspinatus for the rest of us” not a lot of people would know what the hell I was saying.
Are the lats in the room with us right now?
@@EazyEDC Not rhomboids actually lol
I absolutely love the peacefulness under water
Yeah I bet I would just be hearing ringing 😭😭😭
I used to too but recently I've been getting more claustrophobic when I'm under water with the silence and I can hear nothing but my thoughts. Miss being younger!

The sound of being underwater is freakishly calming
It’s scarily peaceful
@@kbnnkb It’s very super quiet but the will to breath when you want to but you can’t because you’re ten feet under water dosn’t make you feel at ease… 🤣
I can always hear the mechanical noise of the pool and even lakes with no one around has...sounds. it's eerie. I like it and its peaceful. But it's eerie.
Probably has something to do with being in the womb tbh
I used to love swimming laps for this very reasoning - it was a relaxing form of exercise.
I used to do this for fun in the deep end of my pool when i was a kid. I can still hold my breath for 2 min. It will only ever come in handy now if someone tries to drown me😂😅
Just gotta play dead for a min then let them walk away and boom your still alive lmao
@DanTheMan624 exactly🤣. Gotta sell the struggle though.
I feel you on the 2min I use to practice holding my breath everyday before swimming, my dad always taught me that if you wanted to last longer under water you have to move relaxed
you tied your arms together and retrieved things from the deep end of the pool and only came up using the force of your legs? as a kid? are we just making stuff up now?
@deeegeeekay yes, word for word, except the part about making it up. I still do it. Unfortunately, I joined the Army. Only time I was ever in water.....oh wait did it in the Army too🤣
I could never. Hats off to all the amazing people that do this.
I don't understand. What are they doing that is scary/dangerous?
@@carlosmspkthink about it. Your hands are tied. Movement is limited in at least 12 ft of water. The only time youre getting air is the 1/2 of a second you have to inhale when your head pops out the water. This would trigger panic and anxiety in most people.
@@carlosmspkjust use your brain before you simply think "I'm seeing a video, that means I could do this"
@@carlosmspkyou must learn to relax under water. It is not about how dangerous it is
@@NintenDub no need to be offensive, it was just a question...
Growing up on an island and swimming your entire life makes this seem easy as hell
Frls. I'm not a fast swimmer, but I like staying in the beach for 6 hours or more just swimming. Holding my breath for 5 minutes is average compared to the other guys.😢
Yea maybe a handful of times.but you don't get a lot of breath in that single second.not as much as one would like to when your doing this for a half hour at a time
@@NintenDub True, but there's plenty of times I thought I would drown with just a little a breather, but in the end it's all in the head. The moment you lose control of yourself is the moment you drown. You should try doing what they are doing without being tied up. Instead hold your breath the longest you can and go back for a quick air and do this repeatedly. Maybe get drowned by your friends for a few hours. Humans can adapt like crazy in the situation they're in. Without experiencing this firsthand you shouldn't speak for them. This will only make them better divers.
Growing up in the suburbs and swimming sometimes makes this seem easy as hell
yupp
First guy knows what he’s doing, gotta release a lil air to sink faster if you just hold your breath it takes longer to get down and up
I was wondering how they can sink so easily. I'm a little person, meaning I'm super skinny with barely much weight on me. I can't even touch the bottom of the pool in the deep end. I tried it at my friend's house. She had a pool that was built in like the 70s, so the drops were drastic and the deepest end was 12ft. Her son dropped his toy and I tried to get it back. I even swam down but not making it even close. She did it no problem. I weigh around 105 at the time. She weighed a bit more than me at about 140-150 something if I had to take a guess.
@@GraffitiBaby96 Well fatter people usually float better so I guess you had ultra low fat % back then.
@@GraffitiBaby96swim instructor here!!! It doesn't have to do with weight, it is absolutely just letting out air that'll do the trick. Not to mention, if your swimming and you can only have time on the surface to breathe IN, you must blow out your air first
Going down and up slowly is one of the tricks to making it through that exercise. Putting great focus into pacing wards off both panic and exhaustion.
Why did he grab the goggles ? Do they have to put it on while their hands are tied behind their back ?
I was in the ocean most my life since im from SoCal, when we did this it was extremely easy to me, but the people who are from inner states found it hard as heck, they were freaking out, but I’ve been under worse pressure when a wave takes me out when im surfing
Same man I’ve been stuck under waves at the wedge when a swell came in I was dying man
i grew up surfing at salt creek and body surfing at the wedge and both places can get pretty heavy. the wedge obviously will get much bigger waves but salt creek got those waves that'll break far out and the white wash will form another wave further in and a 5 foot wave will just fuck your day right up 😂.
Cool...
As a kid I did this for fun in the pool
If you can stay calm it’s a easy. That’s the point.
I live on a lake and spend hours swimming and floating during the summer. My friends and I use diaphragmatic breathing to 'swim' without moving arms, legs, hands, or feet. Its amazing what's possible when you overcome the natural instinct to panic. These guys are on a whole different level.
Can you advise how i get rid of that panic?
@@ak0792 Practice.
Hm.
@@ak0792 I don't know if it's any help, but consider that water never killed anyone. It's their panic who brings them to their doom. Simply assume a "positive" mindset and don't try to account for the worst, try to "push" your luck until you can understand what is your actual limit.
Most panic comes from being unsure whether you'll make it out of not. Knowing what is within your power helps eliminate that panic and also with planning ahead on the fly.
Ultimately, assume that it's do or die and understand that there's no place for panic, you need to act to survive and that involves focusing. This is where practice comes in, together with the aforementioned mental states in which you can practice.
My son has been through this. God bless them all.
He chose to do it. No one forced him.

This has gotta be the most chill training possible for something called "hell day"
Honestly they probably had a bunch of things they did before this that probably makes this feel unbearable
Do it for half an hour
I'm sure it's mildly challenging for ppl who aren't familiar with the water, or difficult to regulate is its immediately after intense activity and your heart rate is super high, but still, climbing obstacles? Running with full kit for miles?
As I said, most chill of all training.
It is so chill that multiple trainees have died over the years while doing it.
@craigbritton1089 well that seems like a strange thing to "train" in then, being that it has almost no real life analog or reason to be able to do it.
How is it they die anyway?
Drown?
They should get a life guard.
...But yeah, ppl die doing all sorts of things. I can drive a car too, and yet ppl die at that everyday.
I love the sound of a camera going underwater. Gives me the good kind of chills 🤤 Good job, fellas. Your country is proud of you ❤️🇺🇸
It was 2008 and 25 of us showed up to Marine Combatant Dive to learn the SOCOM dive test was now a requirement…but we didn’t get a 9’ deep pool. The pool in Panama City was 12’ deep. Those three feet each way added up. Nevertheless, as I recall, with a week of prep everyone passed.
This pool also seems deeper than 9
Yeah, the pool is for sure. Not sure where it measures with those blue platforms…I agree it looks deeper than 9’ with the platforms.
You can see it says 16 ft 6 in on the side of the pool. Platforms at the bottom raises it a bit but still deeper then 12 I’d wager.
Yeah. That looks about right. It will be a breeze for them after this.
We got two tries. I failed the first time. I had a plan, which I had rehearsed, which was to conduct the underwater back flip off the BOTTOM of the pool so I could push back up. On my first attempt I was so gassed by the time I got to the back flop I deviated from the plan and tried to conduct the backflip while descending so I could, in theory at least, get back to the surface sooner. It didn’t work.
The next attempt 30 minutes later I stuck to the plan I had rehearsed and then spent the next 7 or so weeks learning how to swim underwater in the dark at transit depth following an azimuth from increasingly longer distances.
@@ngeduch6963 I’d die bgl

man, I wish I did this when I was 18
Same
We should have all done it. Now when I'm 35 years old, I will never be able to do it. But when you're young, it's possible.
Just go to a pool and do it, it's not that tough. Truly it's not, I'm not trying to brag. I could do this at 10 and I never got official swim lessons. It's really fun actually
@@hijakyurio2705completely agree. It’s almost like meditation once you go for longer than a couple minutes. Anyone who is comfortable in water can do this
It looks so fun
I love being in the water but I would probably drown quickly
Wow the mental discipline and proper technique must me learned trusted and performed perfectly. Hats off to the drown proofing part.
I feel breathless watching this
I’m out of air just watching this on the edge of my seat
Thank you for your Service.
Hell yeah!! Never ever ring the bell.!!!
I can barely breathe just watching this.
So glad to see these young people preparing to be all they can be!
Nah this drill is next level. That breath you take once you get to the top isn’t enough
If you breath along, take a deep breath quickly at the top, and slowly release on the way down and part of the way up, you can do this without having to really "hold your breath." However, for a lot of people, I'd even say the majority of people, being under water tied up like this induces hardcore panic and they lose the ability to rationalize, causing any number of things, tachycardia, shallow breathing, and ultimately causes them to spaz and inhale water.
Yes you brave men love everyone of you and thank you so much ❤❤❤❤
Brave people*
This is one of the best training you ever have l🥶🔥🔥
I prefer water drills over land drills all day long. Something about water is so calming.
These men are more man then me water is my undoing
Bet I could fix your fobia of the water in 10 min !! Honestly , no bullshit . We had to teach kids in the service that where deathly afraid of the water everyday !!

Keep Up The Hard Work. Bc American's Need You. Thank You. LOVE
You all are AWESOME.
I heard a DI say once that "if you break a man in the pool, he'll struggle to take showers the rest of his life."
Seeing some of these exercises really brings that home. While I'm not afraid of the water, i respect it enough to stay out of the Willamette here in Oregon. The water looks slow and calm, but is full of underwater snags. I don't ever want to be in a position where i envy this dude's skills.
As someone who grew up swimming my entire life this is quite possibly super easy
You'd be doing it after running several miles and doing other exercises to make you as physically tired as possible, so that you lose mental focus while underwater.
The moment someone tosses you in a pool with your hands tied behind your back, you will panic. Picking up a mask with your teeth just adds more to the fun. These guys make it look easy but the breath control must be difficult. You'd have to stay calm and that's tough to do in that situation because they specifically do not put you in calming scenarios for a reason.
What is bobbing and what does it do?
Seems like it might simulate being in the ocean with waves going over you making it harder to get air but Im not 100%
Huge respect. I can feel my anxiety creeping in by just watching.
It’s easy in clear water 🙌
Yeah nothing like looking for a boat motor in 20' brackish water, just praying you didn't just pet a gator while on the bottom feeling around.

Love it 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍keep it up y'all 👍
Been doing that my entire life
Am I the only one who does this in the pool all the time the time because it’s fun
I used to do this as a kid but almost in a much scarier way. As a kid I used to like diving in and out of the water, kinda like a dolphin. I would slowly swim around, reserving my oxygen and when I needed to breath I would shoot myself back up from the pool to grab a quick breath and go back down. It always scared my mom because I would stay under water like that for 10-15 minutes just consistently allowing myself to breath out and move slow. All of this teaching was through swim team. I am a competitive swimmer and have been since I was 4. I have an extremely good relationship with the water. I have tought myself some vital skills by doing what I did. I also had eventually learned I can apply that same trick to waterboarding myself, as long as you can remain calm you won’t feel like you’re suffocating.
This looks fun
I tried these in deep pools before it was actually quite fun
I swear as hard as these courses are, i picture little kids accomplishing some of these tasks without breaking a sweat 😂
Do they have to some howmanage to get their dive mask on ziptied/plasti cuffed aswell?
probably just retrieve it to show they are calm and collected and can still operate in similar possible conditions but I'm not %100 sure on that.
😂no not a requirement folks
I was wondering why he didn't bring his hands under his feet and in front, then he could put the mask on, so chlorine won't burn his eyes. It wouldn't be overly difficult.
My brain/nose would be on fire.
I can't even sink. Props to them.
Cooooool!!

I use to play underwater hockey ..crazy sport...SAfricans vers Aussies always fierce competition..could hold my breath for 3min Sport great for spearfishing
I think this is one drill I could perform
For more than 20 minutes? 😂
@@Anatoli-fn6io easy peasy
I can only hold my breath for literally 10 seconds my whole life. I’ve grown up in swimming pools and the ocean. Swimming and surfing. Idk why I thought 12 seconds was champion level 😂😂😂😂
10 seconds is really short to be fair- the average man can hold his breath for around two minutes.
I feel like I’d be able too do this I can hold my breath up to 2 minutes and I love the water and have good control while being in it the only thing would be is too see if my mental resilience can tolerate doing this
I’m drowning just watching this 😂
This is why the US makes the best soldiers. Completely badass.
I remember watching pro-surfer Nathan Florence talk about his wipeout on a 30 foot Irish surf spot during which his neoprene hoodie was ripped down over his face as he was getting severely thrashed.
This training in stressful ocean conditions makes sense for a successful mission.
All i need i to learn how to swim properly if i get any chance here for such a wonderful experience ❤. I'm mentally and physically tough.
I used to do this in the pool in our backyard. Made me a fantastic swimmer, lol. Then i moved onto being able to dive.
Very tough well done 👍
Not gonna lie this does look fun
I’m so dumb I use to look these videos up and just practice them whenever I was in a pool when I was younger lol
This is a special kind of people.
I did a different version. It was a weighted bucket I had to fill up with my breath gas and make it rise from the deep outdoor pool on Ardennes.
I was surprised at how many people struggled with this training evolution. For a few of us, this was rest.
I had too much positive buoyancy, always had to exhale everything before I hit to bottom of the pool. Always felt like I was drowning and never had a breath 😂
