I used to do stuff for Porsche, Autosport and BRSF. It’s changed a lot over the years. You couldn’t get track side for content creators you had to have a letter from a media outlet to get trackside. You also had to have an LTD company for the insurance. Great video !
It definitely has changed over the years and each place / event / company is different and there still is some companies that require you to be a representative of a LTD company. For this example which is heavily focused around FOS they do allow Content creators as media but not as photographers. I had access for the purpose of this video and to get photos for other companies I was there creating for. But it is heavily governed by the media team for Goodwood. Goodwood did watch this video before going live to check it was all ok ❤ glad you liked the video 😊 hopefully it helps some people.
Great video, might have to try apply for the FOS next year as they seem a bit more flexible, when i try to apply for accreditation on behalf of a certain team/driver for MSV races i get rejected lol
Great stuff, and great video. Have a Question, do you have to be employed in the media/photography industry to be given accreditation. I was doing photography at FOS this year just myself as an interest. I am looking to get involved in doing auto photography, would I need to show examples of professional work/experience to get the accreditation? Thanks
You would need to be at least representing a company. I.e there shooting for a company not necessarily “employed” by them. So maybe you can plan ahead with a portfolio and send your work to different media outlets / brands / companies / Goodwood etc about your excitement to shoot the event professionally.
Hey, no deposit needed! They take your details phone number / email and that’s it. If you don’t bring it back they’ll know who you are because you only have access to it if you’re accredited / media access band etc
Soooo.... I randomly walked up to a Nascar event at Kansas City 6 years ago wearing a high viz vest that said media on it, carrying my big lens... no one questioned it... walked right into pit lane and began taking photos. It's my favorite tactic. Went to a drag race once and talked a staffer into letting on the track wall. He convinced everyone I was media...😅
That’s very clever but you’re putting people at risk! This isn’t the way to do it. If you get hit, or cause an incident who’s paying ? That’s why there’s public liability insurance. I’m all for fucking about and finding out I’ve done my fair share. But not at live track events. It’s also fun I get that but you have to just accept the access you get. If you want to work in motorsport, do it properly you have all the freedom without the risk and I’m sure you’re good enough to get paid.

Love your photos. I'm wondering if you have to be +18 to get the pass?
I would assume so but that doesn’t mean I’m right. It might be a case of getting a media pass but not a tabard but worth asking events.
thanks for the info
