Olly Alexander has confessed to feeling "ambivalent" towards the Union Jack flag.
The renowned artist from Years and Years, who is scheduled to showcase his song 'Dizzy' for the United Kingdom at the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest's grand finale in Malmö, Sweden this Saturday (May 11), expressed his belief that the flag can be both "nationalist" and "divisive."
However, he aims to redefine its meaning in a "constructive manner."

I've always liked the song contest but I can't stand this year's UK entry or the stage act that goes with it. it is a song contest, not a sex show it will not win because it is crap.

The Eurovision Song Contest should be apolitical. It is run by the broad casters, I believe. NOT the respective governments.

Olly Alexander is more representative of the UK than the out of touch pundits slating him. The world has moved on from their prehistoric attitudes. The song is well written and the staging is fabulous. Of course it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but then I don’t like darts or snooker.

@@JacquelineM2023 it was the most imaginative presentation of the evening, and the box is intended for the viewers on to numbering hundreds of millions not a few thousand in the arena. It was fun and challenging I agree, but this is real life - not some miserable ballad making us feel sorry for ourselves.
