They captivated me with their ep cause it was so heavy. But this album came into my life when i needed it the most. It stopped me trying suicide for a second time. It gave me inspirational messages and hope for a better life. The next several albums did the same up to "hear in the now frontier". This song primarily gave me strength to carry on. I thank God for putting them and their music in my life.
Sad for you, this is a freaking GREAT band, in my top 5 metal bands I have seem and they can do this stuff live just as well as in the studio. To each his own, they have been in my rotation since they came out and easily could share bills with Sabbath, Priest or Maiden. They did the best concept metal album ever in Operation Mindcrime, even the critics loved it. Rock On, they are pure gold!
I saw them on this tour. It was cool. Tate’s a great singer. Had the same vocal coach as Ann Wilson and Chris Cornell. Personally, I think *Rage For Order* was their best album.
Never could keep up with all the Metal subgenres. Jeff Tate is one of the best metal-rock vocalists I have ever heard, always perfect in concert. The band combines theatrical approaches with progressive arrangements and Operation Mind Crime is an iconic concept album, and they have done this album in its entirety on tour....captivating show! I'd check out, "Take Hold of the Flame, and, give them a chance, their catalogue evolved over time. I would wager that you'll find tunes you dig!
Yes, everyone acknowledges Geoff but listen to the musicianship from Chris DeGarmo, Micheal Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield..they are Masters of their craft...
Whoever recommended this particular track must be trolling. They have a lot of songs that aren't super dramatic like this. "Take Hold of the Flame" off this same album is way more straight forward and has even more insane vocals.
Saw these guys a few times and they were always amazing. Geoff Tate's voice was sublime, every bit as good live as on any album. Also i dont think I've ever seen anyone hit their drums louder or harder!!!!. You really should check out "Take hold of the Flame" Live in Tokyo 1984.....it will astonish you.....captures their live excellence brilliantly. Fair and honest reaction.
Love queensryche I've seen the many times in concert. Geoff Tate is an amazing vocalist he's got some serious chops, but the stuff I like the most is off their empire album
While I appreciate your honestly, unlike other reactors, I wish you would have went into more detail as to why you don't like it. It me it's an absolute masterpiece. The lyrics are probably some of the best lyrics I've ever heard written and yes that includes Rush. There's just so much emotion in the song... Regardless, I was shocked you hated it so much. The band has great musicians.
I consider myself a big Queensryche fan. Might not be your cup of tea in general...but I'm confident there is gold somewhere in their varied catalog you'd really enjoy. Awesome band!
I saw them live during their North American tour with Dream Theater in an arena without air conditionning during summer... so steamy that there was fog between us and the stage.
He's more of a prog rock guy and I don't think he cares for powerful metal.....Maybe it's his age I don't know.....I have a couple of friends who went more from metal to rock as they got old also..............
If you don’t hear the seeds of Mindcrime here you are deaf…..this is the song that set the stage for the next few years for QR absolutely Fucking brilliant!!!
this tune is underrated ... i had to listen to it a few times when it was first released ...no air play on radio what so ever...back then you had to go to a special record store that sold new artist and metal bands...
I’ve been a Queensryche fan since the late 80’s. This song is ok but not among my favorites. I prefer the better production of their later 80’s records. Even though they are quite dramatic as you have observed. But Operation Mindcrime and Empire are classics.
So M, because other channels got to react to good songs you thought Justin should have to listen to sub-par songs? I can understand the request for this song if it has "meaning" for you but to pick it for a reaction because it hasn't been before is not how to introduce someone to a band you love, the obvious reason no one has requested it is "obvious". Payed torture JP.
@@graciefolden2359 stfu You know absolutely NOTHING about Queensryche. Anyone who has been following them since the beginning ABSOLUTELY would include Roads to Madness among their best songs.
My favorite song ever is Diary of a Madman written by Daisley, Rhoades and Kerslake. It's the drama and theatrics that makes that song IMHO, gives me chills every time I hear it.
Ronnie sang a lot on Operation Mindcrime 2. You can hear 2 of the greatest of all time together on one album. I just don’t understand this reaction video. If you can’t hear the amazing musicianship and respect what came before, it’s just plain sad. This production quality was from a pretty bad time of music. Listen to all of the albums that came out around the same time. They are light years ahead of almost anybody back then. There’s a video where Dream Theater does Take Hold Of The Flame with Queensryche and you see how great of a singer Jeff is. This whole band, with their dynamics, chord selections, amazing bridges, on and on, are one of the absolute greatest. It really does make me question anyone’s musicianship that would even question them. That tells me a lot about what type of musician you are. Idc what type of music it is, I respect great musicians. I wish I could get my time back from watching this video and having to comment on here. Don’t worry, it’ll be my last comment on anything you do. 🤟🏻🤓
Decades of touring you don't even know the the bands queensryche completely blown off stage in there own element. Including guns n' roses Metallica tool 😅. The man had no control over their first two albums
Appreciate the honesty. We can’t like everything. Besides the theatrically what is it about this song that turns you off? Just curious. I always find it interesting what makes up each persons musical taste.
I was not a big fan of this song either. I was partial to Take hold of the flame and the iconic The Lady Wore Black. However I think you should look into their next album Rage For Order where I think they were much more polished and influential.
Have always loved this song, despite the cheap-sounding mix, which does the material no favors whatsoever. Geoff is in a class of his own. He was the star of the band. The other players always struck me as eh, overall. A little pitchy (flat here and there), but still a great vocal performance. Saw them play this live and it sounded great.
Horses for courses, really! Those who have followed the band for 40 years might have a different opinion - and do opinions not vary? Its perfectly OK not to like something and yes, it’s dramatic - as is Pink Floyd! Personally, I don’t mind drama but then again I follow Opera which can be absolutely filled with drama
This song is a masterpiece! The level of lyrical poetry is incredible........There is no song in the QR library where Geoff sounds better than on this song. This is back when Queensryche and had some balls and USE to be good. Before they went all main-stream sounding..........
Justin...I think those who recommended the songs to you chose from the weaker songs of Queensryche's early period. Suite Sister Mary is the weakest on Operation Mindcrime and the rest of the record is great. Roads To Madness is possibly the worst song on The Warning lol. The Warning in general is a very immature record. So please don't judge the band by just these two songs which are not among their best at all :)
Roads to Madness is an absolute masterpiece. The warning doesn't even have a "worst song", neither do any of their first five records and EP. Just enjoy music.

This my favorite song by Queensryche. That's difficult to say because they have so many.
👌

Queen Of The Reich. Will change your mind. Off their EP, the first thing most of us ever heard when they came out.
I just came across this turned it off after adding a couple simple facts.
axel rose couldnt hold his jock strap.

This tune is epic!!
Its not a simplistic song that any average person catches the 1st time around. But after a few times u would likely be hooked. But to each their own
Queensryche is not for everyone, but.........

my absolute favorite closer off of any album....epic
They have a lot of bangers
I love this album!
IMO this is Geoff Tate's finest vocal moment!
Try the empire album!!!
The song Silent lucidity 😊.
I don't hear Axle Rose at all. More like a cross between Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson.
Sounds like
Geoff in his prime. Can sustain an E5.
Michael, I appreciate the requests for Queenshryche but there’s better songs brother.👍
Songs that have been over played and reacted to too much.
Lol K. Who is this fool?

One of my favorite songs ever! ... 2nd part sounds like Iron Maiden!
Such a great album from start to finish!
If you you didn't like that, well at least I tried. It's progressive more than power. 🙂
To each their own. I think Battlestar is the worst song Rush was ever involved with. Repetitive pop crap, but that's just my opinion.
My favorite song ever is Diary of a Madman written by Daisley, Rhoades and Kerslake. It's the drama and theatrics that makes that song IMHO, gives me chills every time I hear it.
This song is a stone cold classic. You don't like this, and yet you like Stargazer another epic. I'm confused?
they don't sound the same at all.
@@JustinPanariello I disagree. They have more in common than not, and to like one, and not even like the other one at all, is confusing to me.
@@JustinPanariello Stargazer is WAY ahead of this. I'm a Queensryche fan but Stargazer is a true Classic.

What a shame, no appreciation for the Masters progressive metal. Dream theater's next in line

This is prog not power metal.
great band,,but almost all the members are gonne,new members now,not the same,(NM 156) 🤘🤘🤘
the lyrics message now I hear........
Bruce Dickinson on steroids

I dont feel like they really found their path, theyre highway until the next album. Much better songs much beter production imo
But do you listen to Meatloaf?
funny you mention Meatloaf lol check back in 2 days 5pm lol (also answer-NO)
Wasn’t a fan of this album either but did enjoy rage for order and beyond
Power metal? No. Power shit...? I have two of their albums (which are great) but thankfully not this one, WOW WTF!

I used to listen to some Queensryche back in the day but now this song sounds a bit dated to me.
This song is timeless in my opinion. No modern crap even comes close to this.

I’m also confused by the choices here. You would think take hold of the flame or empire or something like that would be where you would start
