I’ve been in the Leatt 4.5’s the last year and a half. Absolutely love them.

      How are they holding up?

@@dirtbikesam I’ve probably put 75 ish hours on them and they are still in great condition. Typical wear and tear.

I’ve ridden the older Sidi crossfire and currently ride SG12s. Just picked up a pair of 5.5s for super cheap, stoked to try them out.

I wear Garne fastbacks but my son bought a pair of Leatt 5.5 boots last year and he really likes them . Safe and comfortable boot for him.

I'm really curious how they compare to the SG12 as far as impact protection. I've literally used my boots for traction in hard enduro situations, so I appreciate a lot of hard plastic on the lower part of the foot. Not the thin/soft stuff that you can crush with your hands, but actual hard plastic.
How do the Leatts compare in that respect?
I ride mostly in SG12's offroad, but have some Tech7's for dual sport and adventure riding.

Thats a great question. While the SG12's are hard to beat when it comes to over build quality so far I really believe these new Leatt 5.5 boots are holding their own when compared to the SG12's. In fact the Leatt's are finding their way into my gear bag WAY more. I am hoping to do a long term update to let everyone know how they held up for me. A couple of weekends ago I hiked in the mountains for about 1.5 miles and was really surprised how well they did and my feet didn't hurt as bad as I thought they would.

tech 7 because of comfort and feel and i'm a smaller rider - but the 5.5s look very good

So far I’m really happy with the 5.5s however they are not as comfortable or compact as the Tech 7

been running 5.5 for about a year now, seeing this review makes me really appreciate several things about the boot.
    1. The not gimmicky, gimmicky, velcro. I am going to severely miss it on my next pair of boots
    2. buckles, keep them clean and they will work amazing, they do not deal with grit well though
    3. adjustability, I found them to be loose with 2 pairs of pants but fit perfectly with my shin guards
    4. wide *enough* toe box, I wear an 11 shoe and have wide feet and 11 fits me well enough to not notice when im riding. They have since broken in very well and are comfortable now.
    5. Ankle lock, the added support is very noticeable going between boots
6.Rubberized side grips, they actually grip the bike extremely well, especially if the bike is set up for you
    7. Am going to need to replace the souls soon, so that is a nice feature
    Dislikes:
    1. STILL SQEAUKY... WHY ARE THESE STILL SQEAKING AFTER AN ENTIRE YEAR?!?!
    2. Hard to clean but maybe thats just because most of the rubber and plastic is white, experiences may vary
    3.leaving room for an edit
But seriously if those are my only complaints, thats not bad. I may be a little less critical than deserved as I got these on sale for less than 250, I also typically run low and low mid tier boots, the cheap pair of oneals everyone has and some ~$200 boots. At the price point, I had to get these and I highly recommend them to anyone who finds them on sale. Even at full price, these seem to have more or just unique features that set it apart from some of the boots in the $500 price range

Yet another useless boot review. When you say: "these boots are comfortable", make sure you show the shape of your foot. All people have different shapes of their feet. And FYI, many people have feet that are wide in the toes mut are wide in the middle or 1/3 from the toes. And unfortunately, most boot manufacturers make their boots for people with very narrow feet, flat feet or feet that are the widest in the toes part. And you don't even care to show closely the shape of the foot part and to compare the foot parts of different models, which means you don't understand anything about boots and most probably, have very narrow and maybe flat feet (otherwise you would be unable to put on most of the boots that you are displaying). My advice to you: look at feet of different people and collect some statistics.
