When screwing these particular bridge pins in or out, there can be a risk of the head of the bridge pin snapping off, snapping where the neck is narrower - where the string sits in that groove. I've had this happen. A preventative is to loosen the string and move it aside before putting the socket over the pin. Then more of the bridge pin slides into the socket, past the narrow neck, so the turning pressure is applied to the pin on both sides of the weaker, narrow neck. I really like this video though. Thank you
Aha! Maybe this is why the heads of the Salvi bridge pins are round. I thought about loosening the string to get to the hex head part of the pin, glad to see this is doable. Thanks!
@@kohare63 Hmm, could be... I know that not all bridge pins are threaded - i.e. screwed into the harp and designed to be screwed in further/screwed out. And with some lever designs the placement of the bridge pin doesn't effect the tuning.
@@JoshLayne Ok good to know - will wait for answers before I put a tool on this beast. It’s hard to get hold of a harp tech around here, so I’d like to do minor tweaking myself if I can.
Thank you for this! Very informative! I’ve been scared to do this and I live in Kamloops so far from anyone who can regulate for me. Now I feel like I can try this! ❤
Congratulations on your new harp! I've had a Ravenna 26 for 13 years, and while it is remarkable at holding its tune, is much overdue for regulating. Thanks to your video I will definitely be adding that to my list of projects for the new year!
Oh how fun! I’ve been thinking about getting a 26/27 string harp for a while now to have as a travel/camping trip harp since bringing my regular harp is completely impractical. Have you named your Ravenna? Do you name your harps?
I'm using iStrobosoft - I like it, but of course there are tons of tuner options out there! I also like cleartune, just wish it was still being supported).
Cheers! Happy 2025 to you. Your Ravenna has a nice sound🎶 I still feel it will be a daunting task to regulate my Excalibur and have put it off for over 2 years now. Can it be damaged by ignoring this task? Thanks.
I traded my Ravenna for a new Salvi Una whose bridge pins are round with no hex head so I can’t get a tool on them…any ideas on how to adjust these Salvi levers for pitch? None of them are a true half step 😑 Thanks and happy new year!

Congratulations to your new harp! Always a pleasure if a new instrument joins the herd, right 🤗

Before this video, I had felt intimidated. Now I'm going to try it. Thank you!
Hah, nice, good luck!
I am excited for more small harp content 😺😺

I love one and it's just right for me. It's a lovely lovely sound.
Thanks for your explanation and best wishes for the New Year with this beautiful Ravenna!
Excellent information! Thanks!!

Have you named your Ravenna? Do you name your harps?
Nope, no naming for me!
You can’t go wrong with a Dusty Strings!
how many harps do you have? 😂 It sounds beautiful.
Great vid. Which tunning app are you using ?

Are you going to arrange and compose for the lap harp ?
Maybe!

The harp will be fine! Just your ears that might suffer, haha :)
Will that work on a pedal harp as well?
No, unfortunately! Check out this episode for details on how to regulate a pedal harp: www.harptuesday.com/ep-126-how-to-regulate-your-harp/

I don't have any experience with the Salvi levers, trying to find out some more information, will let you know if I do!
@@JoshLayne Thanks! I sent the question to Salvi, we’ll see if they reply.
