  • Embark on a fascinating journey with us as we delve into the intriguing concept of ammonia-based life in the universe. This video explores the possibility of life forms existing in environments vastly different from our carbon-based Earth.
We unraveling the scientific theories behind ammonia as a solvent for life, contrasting it with the carbon-based life we know. Understand the chemical properties of ammonia that could support biological processes in extraterrestrial environments.
Discuss the broader implications of discovering ammonia-based life for our understanding of the universe and our place in it. How would such a discovery change our approach to searching for life beyond Earth?

I dreamed I was a butterfly last night. Or, maybe I am a butterfly today, dreaming I am a human.

      @@glenmorgan4597 posted something very funny.
I was paraphrasing a Chinese philosopher “Once upon a time, I dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was myself. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.” ― Zhuangzi
      But, I like yours better!

      Ah yes, the “butterfly effect”!
The butterfly effect is related to other potential scenarios, however, I’m picking up what you’re laying down sir!

I miss some important questions: How stable are molecules like amino acids, proteins or nucleic acids in ammonia? We can easily produce these conditions in a lab and even bring extremophilic bacteria into it. Or, if not, think about alternative molecules and test them for stability and reactivity.

Isn't it sad that as we gain more intelligence so many become victims of being hyperfocus and close-minded? It used to be go into the unknown with a wide lens and no preconceived ideas

It's no secret that humanity suffers from epistemic arrogance - believing we can answer questions about what life is and so on when our knowledge of ourselves is quite limited. We merely visited our own natural satellite just once in more than half a century. How can we pretend to impose that life is what we understand it as and reject anything else? Anything is possible really, we're just grains of dust amongst giants.

I came here to see "What Other Life Forms are Possible" not learn "How Other Life Forms might be Possible". 😓

I think it's important to stick with what we know for now. Finding life "as we know it", is likely to give us unambiguous results. Once we know for sure there is that life out there, then it will be open to expand our horizons.

Pretty sure we're the human channel for aliens. One channel among thousands. Like Truman show but none of us are in on it. I'd watch us.
