@@Pimpmedown In my HG nuzlocke, (don't ask me why I have a Graveler) I was able to clear out the Clefairy and Miltank using Quilava (Linkle) (Female), and Graveler (Yumi) (Female). SoulSilver was different since I have Bayleef (Lomax) (Male), and Rocky (Female), it's almost the same result.

About catching both box legends in a single game, Emerald lets you catch Groudon and Kyorge in the post game :) but yeah pokemon needs to do that more and do away with two versions
If you ever do a Johto run again, here's a little secret, immediately after releasing the beasts head west to the route with grass, you will always encounter one, that you can use the Pokedex to track it. The route on the way to the moo moo farm.
My head cannon is that a fair number of gen 1 pokemon are actually native to Johto, not Kanto. There are a handful that are exclusive to the safari zone - where you would go to see something exotic - or are a one off through a trade.
@@marnixmaximus3053 Pinsir, Scyther, Tauros, and Farfetch’d were the ones I had in mind, since they are catchable in the wild in Johto. Even though the bugs are in the park, a national park seems like preservation and exhibition of native wildlife or geography.

I actually wanted to attempt this, and I tried it on an emulator. I knew about the berry tree for moon stone part, but I thought that won't be a problem. It was, I didn't realize berries only sell for 5 poke dollars. So I quit, even though I was using an emulator and changing my computer's clock, which was faster than changing the game's clock. So I can't imagine how painful your experience must have been.

This time you had the Dragonair to grind, but same thing applies in Crystal and GS, you can get to Route 44 as soon as you GET 7 badges, just cannot fight Clair until clearing rockets, for extra things to grind.

God this POC looks like hell. I'm about 2/3s of the way through a Red POC, and I thought the 4% safari mons and Dragonite were bad, but they're nothing on this. Very impressive.
I wish people doing these challenges would just complete the whole dex and allow trading for the pokemon that require it to evolve... I want to see the dialogue when you have the completed dex lol
Gust is a Flying-type move in Gen 2 already. Pidgey could've handled Sprout Tower, I think. Hell of a run. Can't believe you farmed so many Berries. The Apricots were neat... I had no idea they sold for so much. Also your fortitude for putting up with not one, not even two, but three roamers, that takes congratulating! I can't even stand finding ONE of them, lol. 12:20 Headbutts are brutal! Bryan Danielson still does them periodically, but he's cut down a lot. A few years ago a Japanese wrestler (Katsuyori Shibata) had to retire due to a severe brain bleed after a headbutt (like others, it was a signature move of his), although he seems to be possibly coming back soon, and is a trainer now.
If this wasn't enough work, some day you should do the same challenge with no cap on when species need to evolve, just catch every species between the gym leaders, and do all the leveling at the end of the game to see how much faster it is lol
I was wondering why he wasn't doing that. If it was to get the fastest time, no way is evolving dnite pre Whitney fast. Would have been way faster if he leveled in victory road or Mt silver.
@@svx4401 my guess would be to keep them all consistent as that seems to be one of his rules - finish the evolutions before the gym leader. I think it's a rule that has wasted alot of his time over these challenges though lol

Completed this challenge just today myself. It took me 139:39. At first, I was floored that I beat it in nearly half the time it took Johnstone. I was thinking “Was my emulator running differently or something?” or “Did I do something wrong?” But after seeing your time, nah, I guess I was just decently efficient.
My hand automatically went towards the "plus" key on the keyboard to ease my suffering. I see there's still some muscle memories from the late 90's playing using NO$GMB.
You could speed up a bit the hunting of the roamers, getting the first one right off the bat after awakening them. immediatly after they are freed do the following: 1-save 2-dig or escape rope out of burned tower 3-go out to the route south or west of ecruteak 4- repel with a pokemon first in your party that is higher level than the normal wild pokemon in the route you are but lower than lvl 40 (preferrably faster than the lvl 40 roamers and with a trapping move) 5- run into the grass until you either get the roamer or you don't. if you don't reset and repeat. you can pretty easily and consistently get one roamer immediatly with this method, as they flee and go to any of the adjacent routes

The tree grinding just seems so excessive. Like I know the point of a POC is to be tedious, but the 9 hours of berry farming is just too much to me. I feel like that should be an exception. Also you can't tell me that it's actually faster to grind 300 apricorns than to just gamble for the coins you need. GSC made the slots a lot easier to game. If you get somewhat good at timing the reel stops, you could easily get the coins you need in less than an hour.
With the use of the cloning glitch you could've gotten all of the stone evolution pokemon. I understand not using it to get multiple eevees and such since that cheapens the breeding system, but using it to get necessary items to expand the pokedex count i think would be fine for getting said items only.
That might be a slippery slop, if that's allowed, why not the item creation glitch for example or requiring you to obtain all 3 starters since that's possible via a minor exploit.
@@alexisthetransgenderduelis4211 well the item creation glitch is pretty lengthy if I remember right and I'm not opposed to getting the other 2 starters (I actually forgot about that part of the glitch). Again im okay with it so long as it doesn't cheapen the gameplay/challenge and its benefits are very limited. Cloning a Thunderstone evolves multiple pokemon, but cloning a masterball defeats the challenge in catching and rare candies defeats the purpose of high level evolutions.
@@eyalinbar4845You can get one every Sunday. Simply change the in game clock to Sundays and you're making 500 a reset instead of 5. This wouldn't speed up the in game time, but would certainly speed up real time!

is it against the rules to keep your todadile a todadile till level 28 then evolve so you dont need as much xp to level up? and do the same with all the other pokemon who have 2 evo?
Totodile needs just as much Exp to get to 30 as a Croconaw, and its the same with all Pokemon. The evolution trade off is earlier moves vs higher stats.
the post evolving level boost was added in gen 6, so it wouldn't work on gen 2 games, and no, that's not against the rules to keep a pokemon unevolved past their evolution level
Finding the 3 beasts took me probably at least 18 hours of using repel trick and running in grass etc. Followed every guide on the internet and they just would not show up
So would it have been possible to use mystery gift to get the stones you needed? It doesn't violate any of the rules and I even hear it is possible to use the feature on the 3ds. This would increase the total
I did this challenge a while back. The hardest part for me was the moon stone off mum, the dragonite before Whitney and then finding the beasts (that was horrible)

I just started playing Pokemon Go and I was amazed at how high the odds are at getting shinies. They took the fun out of shiny hunting.

Eevee is probably native to kalos being one of the few places to find them in the wild far from human contact.
