  • Today I'm testing out a product called the Air Fort, which is an inflatable fort that can almost entirely fill a bedroom. Is it worth the $50 price tag?

      Probably could modify it and expand it to make multiple rooms but you'd most likely need additional fans to keep the tunnels and additional space inflated.

    Here's a friendly suggestion.....Whenever you need to fit a "seemingly" large cloth item into a "seemingly" small storage bag, you'll be able to make the item as small as possible by rolling it rather than folding it. (This concept works for getting lots of clothes into suitcases, too. )

    What's funny is that we used to build these exact things out of bedsheets and box fans ALL THE TIME in the early 70's when we were kids. We had multiple box fans so we could build many interesting inflatable tents with that stuff. It looks like someone out there used to do that when they were kids too, and decided to market it. It seems that me and my friends were on the rare side when it came to playing in these inflatable bedsheet/box fan tents because I've never met anyone else who knew what I'm talking about when I bring them up nowadays, and so many people are seeing products like this and thinking that it's a new thing. All your kids need is a couple very light sets of bedsheets and some strong box fans and they're golden.

    • @WhatsGahd
      @WhatsGahd Місяць тому +6

      classic case of " am i the only one " born in 88 and did the same as a kid, but the sheets were so heavy / fan so shitty we used couch cushions / chairs as supports. The fan was used to keep it cool more or less, not to inflate the tent area.
      This is really cool imo and is leaps and bounds ahead of the collapsible cube style play huts.

    • @kovary77
      @kovary77 Місяць тому +2

      It can stay inflated, but it's just not as floaty and less responsive to the entrance and exit air changes. The back doesn't have a cinch (not sure if you could add one), but you can tuck the straps into the back of the fan if it's not a square box fan. Basically, anything other than the recommendations and your experience may not be as ideal, but could still semi-functional for you.

    $50 AND you have to supply your own fan that you're going to mar with the velcro buttons which might come unstuck over time is asking a lot. Plus, half the fun of blanket forts is building them!
    Kids might still love it, though; especially kids with any disability or other obstacle that prevents them from building their own fort. It might also be great for people with certain neurological or sensory issues. As an autist myself, I felt comfortable as soon as you showed yourself inside of it. Kind of like a cat, being out of sight is a huge comfort sometimes for people like me; even if it's just a thin layer of fabric separating you from others.

    I used to do this all the time as a kid with big sheets. (Not for children you can't trust around the fan.) The tricky part is attaching it to the fan. If it's an old sheet, you can bend small paperclips into S-hooks, poke them through the edge of the sheet and hook them around the edge of the fan grill. Or, if the sheet is big enough, you can just turn the fan on and put a few inches worth of the sheet edge around the backside edge of the fan, tuck the two corners under the bottom, and the suction will hold it in place. Then you just have to take some heavy objects inside to pin down the sheet edges to the floor. It's a great way to stay cool in a hot house.

    wow this is so great for places that dont have a/c at the very least. I used to make air tunnels with blankets and nap in them.

    we always used a sheet and box fan to make a fort but we had to anchor it down with stuff.

    As a kid my friend and I would take his parents' king size sheet and put it over a register. When the air conditioning turned on, we literally had the coolest fort.
    I wonder how this fort would do on med and low settings, for those concerned with using a bunch of electricity for a fort.

    has a lot going for it in terms of ease of set up and take down. Probably best to fold it from igloo shape into a perfect circle and from there fold it into a pizza style triangle which can then be rolled up like a croissant.

    Is there any chance you'd be able to test to see if balloons float around in there if you blow them up? My son is disabled and I think he'd love this but I was looking at renting a bubble dome, I'm wondering if this would work as a small scale alternative

    Once inflated would a lower power setting on the fan keep it inflated?

    I bought 2 small tents years ago for my grandchildren. They love the tents, but they are a bit of a pain to set up (and guess who gets to set them up?). I love how quick the set up is of this fort, but I’d need two smaller ones, because they would each want their own space. Unfortunately, my house ain’t that big.

    NO WAY! My dad showed me how to make one of those as a kid in the 70s. Using box fan, big sheet tied to the handle and books. Cool to see one actually manufactured, Finally...took them a while. lol, great for summer naps, very tranquil.

    QUESTION: Once the fort is inflated, do you need to keep the fan on HIGH for it to stay inflated?
    I had seen an ad for these and recommended one for my daughter to put her dog's crate in when it's hot. Your vid shows that there's definitely enough room for his large crate!
    Thanks for the great review!❤ I dont think I could move stuff around enough to fit one in my 1-bdr apartment (but i still want one!) 🤣🤣🤣

    When I was a kid, we lived in a trailer with floor vents and I pretty much made these all the time with a sheet and some toys to hold the corners down, brrrr it was cold but so much fun.

    I have a cheaper solution. Now this will only work if you have floor a/c vents. Take a flat sheet but it over the ac vent and go in it. It will keep you cool and be fun
