Good to finally get my thoughts out on this MAMMOTH project. What are you making of the Subsidia comps? Which one's your favourite? Which tracks are your top picks? Drop your thoughts in the comments! 💙
Being a part of this compilation is truly a neat experience and it’s been very rewarding to see the response on it, especially with my song in particular. There were some highlights for me, especially JKuch’s Inure and Au5’s Alien Weapon.
AbsoLUTELY! A prime polar opposite example of this is the launch of Halcyon, Oolacile's new Future Riddim label and my god, his mega comp The Preciever sounds quite incredible.
@@justino9042 I see what you are saying but it is a really rare occasion in my opinion. For this, there were literally 10's upon 10's upon 10's of artists to deal with and with 120 songs being released, how can you control the quality of songs coming out, I don't think it's possible. Excision massively pushed the "120 songs" aspect of the comp and if you are pushing the quantity of music that's coming out rather than quality, then I know for sure that it's going to be the same story. When even one of the biggest dubstep artists do this, the same guy who is one of the founders of Lost Lands, it still ends up with the same "quality over quantity" story and so will everything else that follows in its footsteps and that's why I think it is almost impossible to pull something like this off. Sorry for the paragraph.
This collection is basically the definition of quantity over quality. That being said it was an interesting idea, and there were even some decent tracks to come from it, nothing extraordinary or mind blowing, but some of my favorite tracks would probably have to be: TYNAN - Something In The Water - Very catchy and fun track, nothing super captivating here but very fun to listen to . Kultivate & Finderz Keeperz - Death - very generic intro and mostly lacking in ideas, but makes up for it in every way with the drop, being one of the best i've heard from the year, the last drop being crazy too. DirtySnatcha & Matt Doe Ft. Katie Sky - More Than This - Very catchy and fun drop, absolutely loved this one, the sound design being very on point too. Nasko - Waters Of Styx -Very good on the production side as expected of Nasko, feels a little Soltan inspired I should add too. Future collab maybe 🤔. JKuch - I Can't Let You Go -I can't even begin to describe how good this one is listen to it, it's simply amazing. Au5 - Alien Weapon -Classic Au5 that we all know and love, not much else I can say Caster - The Lunar Ritual - I honestly didn't know who Caster was before hearing this, but the way Caster mixes melodic type dubstep beats with deathstep is genius, a must listen for any Code Pandorum fans. I'm not a pro at reviewing tracks or anything, these are just my thoughts. This comp is by no means perfect and i'd agree is like 95% bad, but there are still some good tracks to come from it, and I appreciate what Excision as well as everyone else did here.
Thanks for shouting out Au5. I'm glad that his music can be seperate so easily from the overload of averageness here. I've been a huge Au5 fan from the start and basically how I found out about Subsidia. I got to snag a few good tracks out of the compilation but Au5 kinda put all the others to shame. A master of his art forsure, and I what I've always said about Au5's dubstep is that it always sounds like music and he never gets lost in the heaviness. Every sound has a reason.
This really contrasts with the amazing and groundbreakning stuff labels like halcyon and interval audio are putting out now. Hacyon is putting out some amazing futuristic tracks and this just feels like its 4 or 5 years behind
Really bvssic crippling mvrda svdden death phonon akeos and leotrix are 5 years ahead 😆 for me excision did a fantástic job on this compilation the battle its now with halcyon for the next compilation so that's how we can have more competition
It seems more like Halycon is 5 years ahead rather than Subsidia being 5 years behind, that's the whole point of halycon releases too, really bringing a futuristic and pretty revolutionary style of bass music into the spotlight
My all time favorites from this entire comp ar DirtySnatcha & Matt Doe Ft. Katie Sky - More Than This, Chime & Helasex - Anger MGMT, and Viperactive - Cabin Fever
Same. As a melodic fan, I was really hoping I'd find some new melodic bass/dubstep artists in Dusk but my favourites were the Wooli/Excision and yetep, both of whom I've heard before.
To be watching this channel, you’re probably quite well in tune with the dubstep scene. I feel like as far as finding new artist goes. It was aimed for the more mainstreamy dubstep fans who have probably only heard of Excision and the guys that play big venues etc.
Similarly to what you said, I found skimming through Night to be a great reminder of how dull modern dubstep can be. With this many tracks, you'd think artists would try to step into new territory, but here we are. A few tracks I liked that you didn't already mention were Anger MGMT, More Than This (production's a bit wonky but the ideas are fairly refreshing), and the tunes by LICK and Caster.
Many artists have tried. They usually get bashed for it, or it becomes a track lost on youtube/soundcloud. A perfect example is leotrix’s newest release on UKF. It’s an incredible track with a sick neurofunk flow for the drop. Some thing I definitely wasn’t expecting but I loved it. I went to the comment section and the energy was NOT the same. It was actually pitiful how many people were nit picking the shit out of the track and saying it has no flow, poor mix down, trash drop, etc. This scene cries how there’s never any new sounds (not you) but when artists give them new, they tear it apart.
Was it just me or was the audio quality actually shit? Like the whole comp seemed to be using 128kbps mp3s or something. Compare some of the bigger artists tracks on the comp to the ones on their profile... to me it sounds like they did some weird mastering on the compilations that took a lot away from all the songs
Damn you really went in and destroyed them xD But ye, sadly I think I have to agree with you. It's great that so many newcomers and small producers were put in the spotlight and there are really a lot of tracks here that I enjoy very much. But for a compilation this big, it is actually not that many. The weirdest thing for me is that they literally decided to drop 120 tunes all at once. WHY? What is this for a marketing move? Space it out ffs xD The hype was real but let it build even more. All in all, I'm happy that Subsidia came to be, hopefully upcoming releases will put smiles on our faces (there is already the first single coming out).
Given the standards of X this was underwhelming but, it wasn't a disaster. You just can't expect all 118 tracks to be good. And I like the new stuff dubstep has to offer the riddimy heavy stuff made specifically for headbangers. There is no such thing as bad music it's just that not everyone will enjoy it, I like the new stuff excision makes compared to his old stuff, it doesn't mean it's great but it just means that I like it. And expecting an artist to come up with bangers every time is just stupid. Lockdown is my favorite dubstep song ever, I think evolution EP was the best thing X made. It's just preference.
I have to agree with you. I am not really a fan of these massive compilations; some potentially good songs can really get lost in the massive number of tracks here. But, for the most part, a lot of it gets tiring after a while. On my first listen, I made note of which tracks stood out to me across the three compilations and I think I ended up with about 25 songs out of the 118.
I couldn't wait to hear your opinion about this compilation! Glad to finally see it on your channel. Also, I gotta' appreciate time and effort you must have put in this video (not only this one, you're doing a great job in general). Thanks for making such entertaining, creative and high-quality videos!
It makes me feel good there are other like minded people who don’t just follow the hype but beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. Either way dubstep has been changing since it’s creation and is going to continue to do sow whether it’s great or not, it’s definitely time for a major revolution
Even though I have listened some of the Subsidia tracks, I generally thought it is a great way to showcase new and upcoming artists and the favorite songs from this label are Lifeless by Sullivan King, Bad Mood by Wooli & Control Freak, Doom by Stoned Level, Make It Hot by Kompany
The only ones i revisted are Au5, Akeos, BVSSIC, Codepandorum, Caster, Chime/helasex, iFeature, Jkuch, Nasko, Nitepunk, Dr Lobster, Jantsen, and Mylky. Everything else is pretty much filler and boring. (I cant remember them all so there might be a great one i didnt mention)
Saw the launch of the comp but I've never been enough of a fan of Excision to really dig in. I appreciate what he's done for the scene overall, but if want a much better example of a label launched right, Halcyon is the the best most recent. I would recommend checking that out if you weren't already, The Preciever has some staggeringly fresh ideas in there.
The sheer pain I went through to listen to all of those tracks, just to find out that only 5 to 10 tracks are actually good, and all of them are from artists whom I already know of, is immeasurable.
Really happy you enjoyed the Nitepunk - RIP and AU5 - Alien Weapon track! IMO the best ones off the compilation. Also the Excision, Wooli, and Haline track is a guilty pleasure for me. I am a sucker for that kind of melodic Dubstep. Hell even Excision and PhaseOne collab was not all that terrible. Funny the ones that UKF Dubstep posted on their channel is the ones I enjoyed the most
I was pretty hyped when these three comps were announced. However, I was pretty disappointed after I finished listening to all of it. My favorite comp has to be Dusk, just better tracks in that one imo. My favorite tracks from the three comps were-- JKuch - I Can't Let You Go yetep - Worlds Away (feat. GLNNA) Whales & Micah Martin - So Long Jantsen - Nasty Cancel - The Swamp Stomp Decimate - Suffocate Nitepunk - Rip TYNAN - Something In The Water Au5 - Alien Weapon Nasko - Waters of Styx Caster - The Lunar Ritual
There’s a stark few that really grabbed my attention and the rest really just melted into the background. I wanted to like it so much, but there was so little to latch onto.
I will agree that I only really enjoyed about half of all the tracks on the compilation. Here’s a list of the tracks that I thought were exceptional compared to everything else with comments on ones I thought stood out in both good and bad ways: Dusk: Sullivan King - Drum Mag Kompany - Make It Hot NXSTY x Eugene - Poison Ray Volpe - Over My Head Kaivon - I’m Different Gladez x Hairitage x Rico Act - Death Kneel (my least favorite out of the ones I liked from Dusk) Mylky x GUERRO - Hound UBUR - Zero (I love that UBUR is becoming more experimental in his production style lately) Jantsen - Nasty (one of my faves from Dusk) Bluhtii - Voices (love how experimental sounding this track is) Cyclops - Barbarians Runnit x Dexter Fizz - Yammin (this one gives me major Moore Kismet vibes and I love that) Bassgazm - Put Some Stank On It (guilty pleasure track) STUCA x Eugene - Anvil (another really well-produced track, Eugene is killing it) Gawm - Mad About Nvadrz - Jaded (I only really like this one because it reminds me of a Space Laces ID I heard a while ago) Stoutty - Damnnn Akeos - Monrovia (I almost feel like this one belongs on Night and not Dusk, but nevertheless, I love how hard-hitting this one is) Mylky x Noughts - Salaam (I’m a sucker for middle-eastern vibes, but I would consider this another guilty pleasure track) KULTIVATE - Subterranean (again, another track that I think belongs on Night and not Dusk, but another heavy hitter, one of my faves, the second drop especially got me) Ruvlo x AfterMyFall - On My Own Blvk Sheep - Neck Drop (I like this one a lot, I like the sound of the higher-pitched synths) Night: Wooli x Control Freak - Bad Mood (this is an ID that I’ve been waiting to be released for some time, and I’m not disappointed at all) Antiserum x Definitive - The Void Kompany - Shanque & Smile (huge fan of Kompany, and this track just makes me love his style even more) Excision x PhaseOne - Demise (easily one of the best tracks off of Night, the cool metal-vocal-synth thing in the drop makes me lose my shit every time) Nitepunk - Rip (some really nice Moody Good vibes) LOUIEJAYXX - Hostage (I really like the “liquidity” of the main synth in the drop, it gives this track a cool feel) Sullivan King x Benda - Tinnitus (great track, perfectly named, and I love the dissonance of the guitar parts) Stratus - Grimorium (I’m a sucker for slower tracks like this one, and all the different sounds in use really make this one a unique one out of the rest of Night, also love the breakbeat switch in the second drop) Jessica Audiffred - Nindo (this sounds like something you would hear at the main stages at Lost Lands and I’m fine with that) Caster - The Lunar Ritual (has some heavy Code:Pandorum vibes which I love, love the switch up before the second drop into some psytrance, and the more melodic parts are really were composed) Jkyl & Hyde - Temper Tantrum (about what you would expect from Jkyl & Hyde, pretty decent track) Dogma x ELEVATD - Punishment Flick x VANM - Vanman Chime x HelaSex - Anger Management (EASILY my favorite track off the whole Night Compilation, I love how these two seemingly completely different artists came together on this track, I absolutely LOVE IT) Au5 - Alien Weapon (come on, it’s Au5, his tracks always fucking slay) Point.Blank - Hoodrep 2020 (this is actually a remake of an older track that was released a while ago, personally, I like this one a lot) TYNAN - Something in the Water (TYNAN never ceases to amaze me with his production prowess, I love the phrasing in this tune) Haunta x Decimate x Blankface x Shiverz - Body Bag (Its good, but with a collab that has 4 such fucking talented artists, I’m a little disappointed with this one, a lot of wasted potential here) YDG x VRG - 9Mili (about what I would expect from a YDG track, but it leaves some things to be desired, the bass is mixed really well in this track though) Stoned LeveL - Doom (personally love Stoned LeveL, I love the sounds he has here, but the mixing could’ve been better) Dack Janiels - Uzumaki (great track name which fits the production perfectly, really well done, also for those who don’t know, Uzumaki is actually a really creep manga by Junji Ito that I would highly recommend) Kaivon - Kill Him (very jumpy track, I like the heaviness, definitely a guilty pleasure track though) Nosphere - Dumbthicc (HUGE fan of Nosphere, and this is a decent track, but I feel like he could do better) Nasko - Waters of Styx (one of my favorites from Night, really well done and high energy) VulKan - Attack (gives me 2014-2015 tearout vibes, and I’m not gonna lie, I like the way tear out sounded then) Lynx x Howndz - Decimate (love the production on this track, really well done, gives it a cool mysterious feeling) Boss Mode - Down To You (well done, what you’d expect from Boss Mode) Hi I’m Ghost x Whales - Death Zone (Briddim banger over here, personally love both Whales and HIG, this track is amazing) Zetta x Jiqui - The Fallen (guilty pleasure track, I like the rising feeling in the drop, but Jiqui can do better) LAYZ x Kliptic - Zeus (I like the galactic feeling this track has, I think it sounds pretty cool) Perry Wayne x BLUPILL - Stomp (another slow track that I think works really well, sounds like something you’d hear on a main stage, so good job here) KULTIVATE x Finderz Keeperz - Death Dr. Lobster - Kerosene (really well done, been a fan of Dr. Lobster on SoundCloud for a while now, and I’m glad to see he released on this, I like the punchiness of the bass in this) FREAKY x Chassi - Wobble Back Code:Pandorum - Sadako (come on, it’s Code, his sound design is some of my favorite in the scene right now, really well produced track) Megahertz x Blue x Rico Act - Nine Lives Cyclops x Jiqui - Brink (I like the how slinky and bouncy that main bass synth is, this is more like what I like to here from Jiqui, these two murdered this one, well done) Benda - Pluto (eh... one of my least favorite out of the ones I liked from Night) Drunk Nixon - Burial Ground (HUGE tune, love this one, really well done) Lizzy Jane x Prismatic - Dance (Prismatic is usually way better than this, interesting ideas, but one of my least favorite out of the ones I liked) BVSSIC - Ocean of Blood (I like the lumbering feeling this has, I think it’s one of the better ones on night) Shoku x JAYSIX - Without You (generic, but better than most of the other stuff I didn’t like) Dawn: JKuch - Inure (flowing melodic and harmonic ideas that I absolutely loved, very well done) Ipsiom - Fantasy Star (again, the composing here is out of this world, I get some Ace Aura vibes and that’s perfectly fine with me) JKuch - I Can’t Let You Go (no surprise that it’s the other JKuch track, this guys stuff is just insane, really really well done) There were definitely some standouts, but the next compilation needs to be *way* more diverse in terms of production styles, too many of the tracks I didn’t list here are very same-y and boring.
I totally agree with your thoughts on Night. There were some moments that I enjoyed, but ultimately if felt like I was listening to the same song on repeat. I feel a lot of producers tried to create a song with mass "head bang" appeal rather than make a track that moves you organically.
I actually liked a good majority of the comps. My favorite has to be the Helasex and Chime collab. I was really excited to see what they could do and they delivered so well in my opinion. Any thoughts on that one? I'm guessing you didn't really like it considering that you didn't even mention it.
I agree that Night was overwhelming and uninspiring, iFeature impressed me quite a bit from Dawn, Dusk was apparently suppose to be more experimental per his interview with Forbes but didn't feel like too many tracks were outside the norm, a lot of uninspired stuff definitely but I felt there were a few diamonds in the rough so to speak.
i agree. this comp seems like a polar opposite to the recent halcyon comp. where halcyon focused on groundbreaking ideas and high experimentation over dancability, this focused on stuff made to just dance to. and although i feel the halcyon comp was overall better, tracks from this comp will be played out live alot more. its all dj fodder. not to say there wasnt some good stuff on this. my favs were from gawm, eugene, stuca, mylky, jiqui, nxsty,
I enjoyed most of Dawn, a lot of Dusk and a few tracks on Night, but I have to agree, a lot of this felt uninspired and overbearing, ESPECIALLY Night. You could probably pick one track from that comp at random and ask me who made it and I wouldn't be able to tell you. Blows my mind that people are still making overly screechy headbanging dubstep in 2020 when people can't even go to shows As for my favorites on the whole thing I'd have to go with: LICK - Infusion Nitepunk - Rip Chime & HelaSex - Anger MGMT Au5 - Alien Weapon TYNAN - Something In The Water DirtySnatcha & MATT DOE ft. Katie Sky - More Than This BVSSIC - Ocean of Blood Ahee & Ruby Chase - Under The Sun CRaymak & Fransis Derelle ft. LINDZ - Invisible
Yeah I can understand your opinion. Despite the fact that this compilation album of Subsidia dusk dawn and night has some very respectable quality of bass dubstep songs especially Bad Mood by Wooli & Control Freak plus some songs from both Caster Chime & Helasex and even Au5 also Nitepunk, the rest of the new songs here is dope but it doesn’t inspire the styles that I wanted to hear all day. But hey at least it’s fine I guess.
A lot of this I feel like is set fodder. A massive collection of music you can just get all at once, and you can pick and choose which tracks to play. I don't think it was Excision's intention to have it all consumed at once like an album
A few of the emails to artists were leaked and whatnot. The entire compilation series is pretty much just stuff for ex to play put and look like he's supporting the up and comers
It was ok and I liked dusk because of ray volpe song and the whales it was so different on the compilation. yeah I love for what each artist put out and have a nice day
Whoa, just got to the point where you were talking about “where dubstep is at and has been” bruv. Dubstep is leaps and bounds ahead of itself at any point in history. I watched it start, I watched it blow up and I see where it’s at now, I get what you mean but there are artists and labels out there absolutely killing it in the realm of ideas and pushing musical and sonic boundaries, obviously not everything and definitely nothing on Subsidia, but overall dubstep is on fire you just gotta know who to listen and where to look. No offense but these are my opinions. You’re right but your wrong too lol
Wow... someone calling out shit for what it is. Thank you lol. I fuckin LOVE Excision because of the tracks he had put out in his earlier years but I can’t believe he rode this riddim train and went from one of the most creative dubstep artist to this ..... like.... HOW!? Makes me sad af.
@@justino9042 In an interview Excision talked about playing things the crowd likes and I get that that’s part of DJing. But as an artist I feel like he was swayed by the audience too much and went more and more simplistic with his music. I just feel like he could’ve and should’ve been more of a trendsetter rather than going more into riddimy music. I get that’s just the way dubstep works. But it sucks when everyone is making literally the same shit. And that happens more often now cuz “riddimy” shit is just way too simple. Not much room to be different. Literally the same songs but slightly different sounds.
@@justino9042 yeah....... I feel like there should be a balance. Riddim is like mumble rap to me. Like........ dumb. The caliber of music went waaaayy down. I personally like music that takes more thought into making it. Like “wow how did they think of that!?” Most Riddim don’t do that. But to each his own. Whatevs.
Glad to know the overall lackluster is basically unanimous. Like you said, there were a few diamonds in the rough &/or exceptions, but in general, it falls irritatingly short. Shameful
Literally the same problem with night. It Feels like Lost Lands with the fact that Its just go ham And listen to the same shit again and again. Literally 5 songs in and i felt like i was wasting my time. Dusk was my favorite out of these three comps. But yeah overall its just meh. I dont know why X went with so many tunes with no flavor rather than few that are great like Halcyons vol 1.
Nawty when they include moore kismet for the next compilations your thoughs can be a Little bit more different bcz I think I hear the same over and over again when you talk about New songs from excision
I don't really know what Excision himself has thought of this compliation which is going to be... I appreciate for what Excision has done for bass music's scene, but being honest, he fails.I think most top artists are running out of idea, just because our music standard keeps going up.Or maybe he is 34 years old now, he no longer can produce good music (I guess...) and come up with greater idea, and he's just now making for profit, paving his way for newer, more underrated artists But in the end, this is a good compliation. Not really standing out, but it gives me some decent moments to enjoy.
Ok... Dawn was the best of the three. Then Dusk, then Night. But Songs I would listen to again, I would narrow the 118 tracks down to 30, whicz has 5-10 good tracks! But in general dissapointed from it. Was a pain to listen to all the tracks, especially Night
Very similar and standard and doesn't get you at all. I though you was going to do a video a Little bit more long I can't call the night compilation and dusk all similar and nothing special right but I heard good sounds in every track that i pick to hear it to be honest amazing artists to be fair and he can do it better if you didnt enjoy at all for the next time and i really love that he release all this ton of tracks.
Something to keep in mind. Night of the living dead by YDG sounds WAY too much like Cake by Ivy lab. It's very sus. The lack of unique ingenuity is actually crazy.
The idea is unique but the compilations are meh. *The only tracks I found interesting are :* Benda - Pluto Code: Pandorum - Sadako Rated R - Blow MIRR.IMG - Creepy Sound JKuch - Inure Nosphere - Dumbthicc Cyclops - Barbarians TYNAN - Something in the water Noya - Soul on fire NXSTY & Sweet Teeth - Imminent Death
Hey Connor, big fan. I have a suggestion to show your dad and your brother emo dubstep which is a personal favourite dubstep sub-genre also if you do show them it MOONBOY is a great emo dubstep producer.
Excision dont read the rest! If you want to help smaller artists my door is always open yknow. Just message me ;) . . Since he is gone i can start: Dawn: - I expected more melriddim style songs but we got the same ''DSG trademarked'' melodic dubstep tracks again. -Jkuch and Sweetteeth/ApolloVega threw shade at every other song in the Dawn comp. -Ifeature was fine too, i guess. Dusk: - I didnt expect this much hybrid trap and midtempo lmao. - Big artists like Excision and Sullivan King were huge disappointments for me. - When i heard Cyclops' track for the first time i thought it was really clean but generic, however he was doing this style before it became the trend so i cant blame him. Its literally his style - I really liked the new stompy style Eugene went with. I was craving for songs like Forge and within a span of a month i got Poison, Anvil and Bottom Text. He didnt disappoint me once again. Both of his collabs are my favourites - A K E O S W E N T H A M W T F - ''Carbin made riddim in 1 hour and now hes in Subsidia'' lmao -Bassgazm's idea really intrigued me but production wasnt there i think. Its still a track that i would go back to. - YDG, Drinkurwater, Kompany, Gladez/Hairitage/Rico Act, Noya, Kultivate are pretty good too. Night: - Kompany never disappoints!! - This might be the first Nitepunk track i didnt really enjoy but production and creativity is there so its just not for me. - Im confused, Louiejayxx's track sounds similar to a good amount of songs in Dusk but its in Night. I just dont understand. - I really enjoyed Stratus's track - CASTER IS A GOD CONFIRMED - I didnt want to comment on bad tracks but holy shit Carbin/Typhon is bad. - Even though i found Flick/Vanm generic, their flow is soo much better than majority of the tracks. I enjoyed that track. - Some of you might find this statement dumb but Chime/Helasex's tracks title was better than the song itself. It perfectly reflected what the track went for but drums and some of the basses ruined the track for me. - Nosphere and Code: Pandorum seem to be the only artists here that cared about the mixdown more than the loudness it seems. Better mixdown but less loudness is always a good deal. - Artix! is slowly becoming the new Riot Ten, always the same thing. - Im really happy to see a finished Uzumaki track by Code: Pandorum. I thought he would never release that. -JkylHyde, Au5, Tynan, Lynx/Howndz, DirtySnatcha/MattDoe, Viperactive are decent too. One thing i expected before the release was the difference of tracks loudness and i wasnt wrong. I really dont like it when i have to constantly change my computers volume. But it was inevitable with 118 fucking tracks since Excision couldnt master them all lmao.
Sometimes i think you are just some bass music elitest. Maybe you should try doing your reviews based off how edm is felt by the audience? Not based off of your ideas of what is good. But rather how the music could be experienced by anyone without a bias. This is elecrtronic music not classical. Loosen up and people might enjoy your reaponses to things more.
That’s the problem. When people are all loving and support each other the caliber of music dips really bad... I get what you mean though. EDM isn’t that serious. But people who love this art form just feel like.... the quality ain’t there and it sucks :(
@@PIGSonTV trust me buddy i love this music. To be honest its just an opinion on the qualitym in this electronic music realm there is not standard for what makes a quality tune. Tbh everyones ears are different. More than that every headphone/ speakers all have their own sound/ hz reaponse. So what might not be all that impressive to one might not to the other. Im not into making music but sound is my life. I have a system built that fufills my needa. I am also picky to be fair but not in a i think i know whats good and everyone else doesnt. I simply recognize what i enjoy. Seems like my taste align with others most of the time. Excisions subsidia MIX flowed flawlessly and left my jaw dropped. Those who think he does not know what hes doing should really take a step back. I like connors take on music time to time. Hardly ever agree with him though, alot of what he likes is mediocore to me.
“I don’t get the appeal at all, very ordinary, you really couldn’t come up with anything more creative than that” Sir, while I respect your opinions, I have to respectfully disagree, when’s your EP dropping ??
When I first listened to the tracks I instantly started to criticize. Its just how it is when someone releases a label with all these people. you expect amazing tracks of course and boom. Just a mediocre tracks. Something these kids can make it a day if they put their brain to it and reference. The I thought of it as a label just to give back to the community, not as much to have amazing tracks. Just pretty simple stuff
There’s a shit ton of bangers from this whole release, and would probably make you think differently hearing it live. Your take on certain ep’s and releases are very disappointing to say the least
Good to finally get my thoughts out on this MAMMOTH project. What are you making of the Subsidia comps? Which one's your favourite? Which tracks are your top picks? Drop your thoughts in the comments! 💙
NVADRZ - Jaded
TYNAN - Something in the Water
Au5 - Alien Weapon
Nitepunk - RIP
Those where sadly the only tracks that really caught my attention
Both eugene tracks
Agreed overall felt thrown together, but I love some tunes off it. Still all in for supporting the cause tho, excision is the boss for this
Passion by iFeature is the best song. Inmy opinion iFeature is one of the most underrated producers of all of bass music.
JKuch killed it, Dawn was definitely the best imo. On the other ones I liked the UBUR, Au5, Sam Lamar & TYNAN songs
Hey thank you man!
You're mad Austin. I love you a ton ❤️
Being a part of this compilation is truly a neat experience and it’s been very rewarding to see the response on it, especially with my song in particular. There were some highlights for me, especially JKuch’s Inure and Au5’s Alien Weapon.
Amazing have you there
Your track is easily my favorite from the dawn compilation with Jkuch and Ifeature
"Quality over Quantity," NEVER EVER underestimate that statement!
That was what I thought throughout the whole thing as well :/
AbsoLUTELY! A prime polar opposite example of this is the launch of Halcyon, Oolacile's new Future Riddim label and my god, his mega comp The Preciever sounds quite incredible.
Nah quality and quantity can be together if many artist work together
That was the scoop for why ppl want destroy all the compilations Just bcz hate there are many songs

That being said it was an interesting idea, and there were even some decent tracks to come from it, nothing extraordinary or mind blowing, but some of my favorite tracks would probably have to be:
TYNAN - Something In The Water
- Very catchy and fun track, nothing super captivating here but very fun to listen to
.
Kultivate & Finderz Keeperz - Death
- very generic intro and mostly lacking in ideas, but makes up for it in every way with the drop, being one of the best i've heard from the year, the last drop being crazy too.
DirtySnatcha & Matt Doe Ft. Katie Sky - More Than This
- Very catchy and fun drop, absolutely loved this one, the sound design being very on point too.
Nasko - Waters Of Styx
-Very good on the production side as expected of Nasko, feels a little Soltan inspired I should add too. Future collab maybe 🤔.
JKuch - I Can't Let You Go
-I can't even begin to describe how good this one is listen to it, it's simply amazing.
Au5 - Alien Weapon
-Classic Au5 that we all know and love, not much else I can say
Caster - The Lunar Ritual
- I honestly didn't know who Caster was before hearing this, but the way Caster mixes melodic type dubstep beats with deathstep is genius, a must listen for any Code Pandorum fans.
I'm not a pro at reviewing tracks or anything, these are just my thoughts. This comp is by no means perfect and i'd agree is like 95% bad, but there are still some good tracks to come from it, and I appreciate what Excision as well as everyone else did here.
Code Pandorum’s Sadako was also amazing
@@purplehumanz the last songs that code:pandorum do are not so good.
@@justino9042 I wait for it a year
Unar ritual definitely caught me off guard. I was headbanging Hella gard for that one !
Stuca - Anvil was great ;-;
Thanks for shouting out Au5.
@@hugebonerville subsidia have of everything if subsidia want to do a futuristic bass music they can do it without any doubt.
@@hugebonerville the two are head to head really they don't have nothing to envy to other labels defenetly amazing projects are coming more than this.
I think Au5's was literally the song of the year for me. Blew me away
My all time favorites from this entire comp ar DirtySnatcha & Matt Doe Ft. Katie Sky - More Than This, Chime & Helasex - Anger MGMT, and Viperactive - Cabin Fever
Thank you for the video. Now go get some sleep, I'm sure you've been up for a few days trying to review this comp.
if this comp was to help me find new small artists, it failed. all of the songs i actually enjoyed were by artists i had already found.
This
This is shit its not the same find News artists than similar music they can do it different
What did you think of Chime & Helasex?
My god, that collab is godly
It's such a weird and unexpected combination in my opinion.
Ambitious but I don't like their styles together
Too messy
@@trashnoob96 its tearout
Let's be honest, most of the tracks are generic, only a few are kind of unique, but is REALY GOOD to have another label out there!
Agree.
😭😆
Bro but what its bad about be like that. Generic
The subsidia whales documentary thingy was the best thing this month
Where can i see that
Yeah I see people mention it everywhere but where I can find it?
Was it just me or was the audio quality actually shit? Like the whole comp seemed to be using 128kbps mp3s or something. Compare some of the bigger artists tracks on the comp to the ones on their profile... to me it sounds like they did some weird mastering on the compilations that took a lot away from all the songs
Thank you for the kind words man!! 💕
😆😁
Whetever bro I think I hear it like any other its the same and whetever happends I Just try to like it.
His face in the thumbnail describes what I felt perfectly. straight up unimpressed.
👍
Haunta & Decimate & Blankface - Body Bag ft. Shiverz
This one was the highlight of the comp for me
Definitely agree about Au5 man best song on that comp.
can you do the other two compilations as well?
Either way dubstep has been changing since it’s creation and is going to continue to do sow whether it’s great or not, it’s definitely time for a major revolution
the listening party was a disaster, who else was there to watch it happen

Perry wayne
The Jkuch tracks are some of the best of the entire comp imo. Some of the best musical ideas of the year so far.
Why did he stop doing rottun?
The only ones i revisted are Au5, Akeos, BVSSIC, Codepandorum, Caster, Chime/helasex, iFeature, Jkuch, Nasko, Nitepunk, Dr Lobster, Jantsen, and Mylky. Everything else is pretty much filler and boring. (I cant remember them all so there might be a great one i didnt mention)

@@justino9042 theyre not about ideas, they just want spotify plays 😐
Saw the launch of the comp but I've never been enough of a fan of Excision to really dig in. I appreciate what he's done for the scene overall, but if want a much better example of a label launched right, Halcyon is the the best most recent. I would recommend checking that out if you weren't already, The Preciever has some staggeringly fresh ideas in there.
Since halcyon start really since the begin I though will be hightligh recommend it
The sheer pain I went through to listen to all of those tracks, just to find out that only 5 to 10 tracks are actually good, and all of them are from artists whom I already know of, is immeasurable.
I went through a few and just stopped. What are your favorites? :)

Haven´t listned to everything, but i can agree with everything you said about it. May favs are from Au5 and JKuch.

My favorite tracks from the three comps were--
JKuch - I Can't Let You Go
yetep - Worlds Away (feat. GLNNA)
Whales & Micah Martin - So Long
Jantsen - Nasty
Cancel - The Swamp Stomp
Decimate - Suffocate
Nitepunk - Rip
TYNAN - Something In The Water
Au5 - Alien Weapon
Nasko - Waters of Styx
Caster - The Lunar Ritual
Excision needs something more not Just come with things like that. I think he can do a lot of good stuff in the future in this label.
I hope Chime's track doesn't dissapoint. He's the best! Also like helasex so I have high hopes.
It didn't dissapoint...
There’s a stark few that really grabbed my attention and the rest really just melted into the background. I wanted to like it so much, but there was so little to latch onto.
I will agree that I only really enjoyed about half of all the tracks on the compilation. Here’s a list of the tracks that I thought were exceptional compared to everything else with comments on ones I thought stood out in both good and bad ways:
Dusk:
Sullivan King - Drum Mag
Kompany - Make It Hot
NXSTY x Eugene - Poison
Ray Volpe - Over My Head
Kaivon - I’m Different
Gladez x Hairitage x Rico Act - Death Kneel (my least favorite out of the ones I liked from Dusk)
Mylky x GUERRO - Hound
UBUR - Zero (I love that UBUR is becoming more experimental in his production style lately)
Jantsen - Nasty (one of my faves from Dusk)
Bluhtii - Voices (love how experimental sounding this track is)
Cyclops - Barbarians
Runnit x Dexter Fizz - Yammin (this one gives me major Moore Kismet vibes and I love that)
Bassgazm - Put Some Stank On It (guilty pleasure track)
STUCA x Eugene - Anvil (another really well-produced track, Eugene is killing it)
Gawm - Mad About
Nvadrz - Jaded (I only really like this one because it reminds me of a Space Laces ID I heard a while ago)
Stoutty - Damnnn
Akeos - Monrovia (I almost feel like this one belongs on Night and not Dusk, but nevertheless, I love how hard-hitting this one is)
Mylky x Noughts - Salaam (I’m a sucker for middle-eastern vibes, but I would consider this another guilty pleasure track)
KULTIVATE - Subterranean (again, another track that I think belongs on Night and not Dusk, but another heavy hitter, one of my faves, the second drop especially got me)
Ruvlo x AfterMyFall - On My Own
Blvk Sheep - Neck Drop (I like this one a lot, I like the sound of the higher-pitched synths)
Night:
Wooli x Control Freak - Bad Mood (this is an ID that I’ve been waiting to be released for some time, and I’m not disappointed at all)
Antiserum x Definitive - The Void
Kompany - Shanque & Smile (huge fan of Kompany, and this track just makes me love his style even more)
Excision x PhaseOne - Demise (easily one of the best tracks off of Night, the cool metal-vocal-synth thing in the drop makes me lose my shit every time)
Nitepunk - Rip (some really nice Moody Good vibes)
LOUIEJAYXX - Hostage (I really like the “liquidity” of the main synth in the drop, it gives this track a cool feel)
Sullivan King x Benda - Tinnitus (great track, perfectly named, and I love the dissonance of the guitar parts)
Stratus - Grimorium (I’m a sucker for slower tracks like this one, and all the different sounds in use really make this one a unique one out of the rest of Night, also love the breakbeat switch in the second drop)
Jessica Audiffred - Nindo (this sounds like something you would hear at the main stages at Lost Lands and I’m fine with that)
Caster - The Lunar Ritual (has some heavy Code:Pandorum vibes which I love, love the switch up before the second drop into some psytrance, and the more melodic parts are really were composed)
Jkyl & Hyde - Temper Tantrum (about what you would expect from Jkyl & Hyde, pretty decent track)
Dogma x ELEVATD - Punishment
Flick x VANM - Vanman
Chime x HelaSex - Anger Management (EASILY my favorite track off the whole Night Compilation, I love how these two seemingly completely different artists came together on this track, I absolutely LOVE IT)
Au5 - Alien Weapon (come on, it’s Au5, his tracks always fucking slay)
Point.Blank - Hoodrep 2020 (this is actually a remake of an older track that was released a while ago, personally, I like this one a lot)
TYNAN - Something in the Water (TYNAN never ceases to amaze me with his production prowess, I love the phrasing in this tune)
Haunta x Decimate x Blankface x Shiverz - Body Bag (Its good, but with a collab that has 4 such fucking talented artists, I’m a little disappointed with this one, a lot of wasted potential here)
YDG x VRG - 9Mili (about what I would expect from a YDG track, but it leaves some things to be desired, the bass is mixed really well in this track though)
Stoned LeveL - Doom (personally love Stoned LeveL, I love the sounds he has here, but the mixing could’ve been better)
Dack Janiels - Uzumaki (great track name which fits the production perfectly, really well done, also for those who don’t know, Uzumaki is actually a really creep manga by Junji Ito that I would highly recommend)
Kaivon - Kill Him (very jumpy track, I like the heaviness, definitely a guilty pleasure track though)
Nosphere - Dumbthicc (HUGE fan of Nosphere, and this is a decent track, but I feel like he could do better)
Nasko - Waters of Styx (one of my favorites from Night, really well done and high energy)
VulKan - Attack (gives me 2014-2015 tearout vibes, and I’m not gonna lie, I like the way tear out sounded then)
Lynx x Howndz - Decimate (love the production on this track, really well done, gives it a cool mysterious feeling)
Boss Mode - Down To You (well done, what you’d expect from Boss Mode)
Hi I’m Ghost x Whales - Death Zone (Briddim banger over here, personally love both Whales and HIG, this track is amazing)
Zetta x Jiqui - The Fallen (guilty pleasure track, I like the rising feeling in the drop, but Jiqui can do better)
LAYZ x Kliptic - Zeus (I like the galactic feeling this track has, I think it sounds pretty cool)
Perry Wayne x BLUPILL - Stomp (another slow track that I think works really well, sounds like something you’d hear on a main stage, so good job here)
KULTIVATE x Finderz Keeperz - Death
Dr. Lobster - Kerosene (really well done, been a fan of Dr. Lobster on SoundCloud for a while now, and I’m glad to see he released on this, I like the punchiness of the bass in this)
FREAKY x Chassi - Wobble Back
Code:Pandorum - Sadako (come on, it’s Code, his sound design is some of my favorite in the scene right now, really well produced track)
Megahertz x Blue x Rico Act - Nine Lives
Cyclops x Jiqui - Brink (I like the how slinky and bouncy that main bass synth is, this is more like what I like to here from Jiqui, these two murdered this one, well done)
Benda - Pluto (eh... one of my least favorite out of the ones I liked from Night)
Drunk Nixon - Burial Ground (HUGE tune, love this one, really well done)
Lizzy Jane x Prismatic - Dance (Prismatic is usually way better than this, interesting ideas, but one of my least favorite out of the ones I liked)
BVSSIC - Ocean of Blood (I like the lumbering feeling this has, I think it’s one of the better ones on night)
Shoku x JAYSIX - Without You (generic, but better than most of the other stuff I didn’t like)
Dawn:
JKuch - Inure (flowing melodic and harmonic ideas that I absolutely loved, very well done)
Ipsiom - Fantasy Star (again, the composing here is out of this world, I get some Ace Aura vibes and that’s perfectly fine with me)
JKuch - I Can’t Let You Go (no surprise that it’s the other JKuch track, this guys stuff is just insane, really really well done)
There were definitely some standouts, but the next compilation needs to be *way* more diverse in terms of production styles, too many of the tracks I didn’t list here are very same-y and boring.
I totally agree with your thoughts on Night. There were some moments that I enjoyed, but ultimately if felt like I was listening to the same song on repeat. I feel a lot of producers tried to create a song with mass "head bang" appeal rather than make a track that moves you organically.
Yes moments that i enjoyed me too.
From all 3 compilations I only added 4 tracks to my library lmao
Dear Connor, I would like to know what do you think about some of my newer tracks Self Repair,Coming for you remix.
btw I am with you, I like Dusk compilation the most.
Please don't self promote
i agree. this comp seems like a polar opposite to the recent halcyon comp. where halcyon focused on groundbreaking ideas and high experimentation over dancability, this focused on stuff made to just dance to. and although i feel the halcyon comp was overall better, tracks from this comp will be played out live alot more. its all dj fodder. not to say there wasnt some good stuff on this. my favs were from gawm, eugene, stuca, mylky, jiqui, nxsty,
If you put together phonon bvssic akeos leotrix oolacile that's what happend
I enjoyed most of Dawn, a lot of Dusk and a few tracks on Night, but I have to agree, a lot of this felt uninspired and overbearing, ESPECIALLY Night. You could probably pick one track from that comp at random and ask me who made it and I wouldn't be able to tell you. Blows my mind that people are still making overly screechy headbanging dubstep in 2020 when people can't even go to shows
As for my favorites on the whole thing I'd have to go with:
LICK - Infusion
Nitepunk - Rip
Chime & HelaSex - Anger MGMT
Au5 - Alien Weapon
TYNAN - Something In The Water
DirtySnatcha & MATT DOE ft. Katie Sky - More Than This
BVSSIC - Ocean of Blood
Ahee & Ruby Chase - Under The Sun
CRaymak & Fransis Derelle ft. LINDZ - Invisible
Add Yookie - Nuclear 😅🤣
oh well, at least Subtronics has his new EP out today
Yeah I can understand your opinion. Despite the fact that this compilation album of Subsidia dusk dawn and night has some very respectable quality of bass dubstep songs especially Bad Mood by Wooli & Control Freak plus some songs from both Caster Chime & Helasex and even Au5 also Nitepunk, the rest of the new songs here is dope but it doesn’t inspire the styles that I wanted to hear all day. But hey at least it’s fine I guess.
Whaaaa you saying you don't like Erase You?! That's been on repeat for me haha!
Stoned LeveL - Doom is the only one I like out of the maybe 5 tracks I've listened too
Doom was the best song on night forsure. He’s on the rise. Such a dope punchy, brutal sound. Shit was on repeat for a week
Bro I want to look at you enjoying your favorite tracks from subsidia that can be my favorite video of the year.
Not a fan of the Akeos track? I feel like Akeos production was on point.
I really enjoy about 25% of the tracks. The Whales ones are my favourite.

Goddamn, i so agree with u.
I had a fun time listening to all of these songs. Even though I didn’t enjoy most of them, I did fine some great gems (cough cough *JKuch*)
They are killing dubstep but all of this artist are dubstep in general. Labels don't control the creativity at all.
I like this kinda dubstep compilations and trap I think not the Best on the melodic style its not perfect but I can like it.

Wow... someone calling out shit for what it is. Thank you lol. I fuckin LOVE Excision because of the tracks he had put out in his earlier years but I can’t believe he rode this riddim train and went from one of the most creative dubstep artist to this ..... like.... HOW!? Makes me sad af.
Why you blame excision of this. That its sad af
@@justino9042 In an interview Excision talked about playing things the crowd likes and I get that that’s part of DJing. Glad to know the overall lackluster is basically unanimous. Like you said, there were a few diamonds in the rough &/or exceptions, but in general, it falls irritatingly short. Shameful

Lost lands that's the problem jaja
Nawty when they include moore kismet for the next compilations your thoughs can be a Little bit more different bcz I think I hear the same over and over again when you talk about New songs from excision
nasko and tronex killed it.
I don't really know what Excision himself has thought of this compliation which is going to be...
I appreciate for what Excision has done for bass music's scene, but being honest, he fails.I think most top artists are running out of idea, just because our music standard keeps going up.Or maybe he is 34 years old now, he no longer can produce good music (I guess...) and come up with greater idea, and he's just now making for profit, paving his way for newer, more underrated artists
But in the end, this is a good compliation. Not really standing out, but it gives me some decent moments to enjoy.
Really he not longer Idk i think he can do more.
Ok... Dawn was the best of the three. Then Dusk, then Night. But Songs I would listen to again, I would narrow the 118 tracks down to 30, whicz has 5-10 good tracks!
But in general dissapointed from it. Was a pain to listen to all the tracks, especially Night
In the compilations I think I can find in the three 5 or ten máx that are good.

Since he is gone i can start:
Dawn: - I expected more melriddim style songs but we got the same ''DSG trademarked'' melodic dubstep tracks again.
Its literally his style
- I really liked the new stompy style Eugene went with. I was craving for songs like Forge and within a span of a month i got Poison, Anvil and Bottom Text. He didnt disappoint me once again. Both of his collabs are my favourites
- A K E O S W E N T H A M W T F
- ''Carbin made riddim in 1 hour and now hes in Subsidia'' lmao
-Bassgazm's idea really intrigued me but production wasnt there i think.
- I really enjoyed Stratus's track
- CASTER IS A GOD CONFIRMED
- I didnt want to comment on bad tracks but holy shit Carbin/Typhon is bad.
What Its genéric to you, you know what it means Which in general refers to a set of elements of the same genre. And "that means Its bad" for you?
What more do you want in which labels you can find good music more than the labels that are out right now.
Nice that's good.
@@PIGSonTV musical tastes of the mayority based on opinions of Others but I mean your opinión counts more than Others to make you feel comfortable
lord bless the whale finder
You didnt enjoy demise of phaseone and excision bruh
I do love me some whale facts if I do say so myself.
this was a big showing of quantity over quality
I’m a simple man, I see a nawtystep video, I like.
If I had to be honest, Dawn was the only compilation that had a lot of flavor. Dusk & Night all sounded way too familiar, and I really disliked that.
Finally someone with the right opinion! Dawn was by far the best, then Dusk then Night I guess
Way too similar i mean every ppl have how described every song but I think you can distinguish a lil more
“I don’t get the appeal at all, very ordinary, you really couldn’t come up with anything more creative than that” Sir, while I respect your opinions, I have to respectfully disagree, when’s your EP dropping ??
Side note: not defending the Yookie EP, was actually pure garbage
"The ideas are meh" Wat?
LMAO this is gonna be good
When I first listened to the tracks I instantly started to criticize.
Yes we like criticize of others work. To feel more than Others. On musical tastes.
We really don't win nothing treating ppls works like that.
Definitely disappoitment of the year
Only TWO tracks I genuinely enjoyed. Chime and Helasex and Au5. That’s it.
There’s a shit ton of bangers from this whole release, and would probably make you think differently hearing it live. Your take on certain ep’s and releases are very disappointing to say the least
Nice. 💓😂
jantsens nasty only one i’ve kept on repeat could careless about any other song :/
All in this world its boring
