Hard to believe the cinematic quality we get these days from go pros and the like, awesome job guys, hope the fishing picks up, been some decent fronts rolling in below us here in west oz !
Love your videos guys, couple of questions: I see minute lobsters in the local Markets and even super markets here in Melbourne which state they are Australian origin, they are way under legal size so where do they get them from and how can they get away with it? Secondly - do lobsters suffer from barotrauma - once they have been hauled up 50 odd fathoms and you throw them back? Love your work ethic, safe fishing cheers Pat
Fantastic questions! First question. WA- have a size known as A size which is basically tiny. Haha and legal. At that size they are like a giant prawn. The Tasmanian southern rock lobster starts at a legal size of B grade which is about 600g to 650g Second question- Yes lobster can suffer from the barotrauma.. our hauler is set at 1fathom a second at the Max speed. Which is under the speed that causes the trauma. It's very important not to hauler flat out 😀
The mast holds out nav lights aswell as our main lights for fishing (helps if bryce wakes up earlier to use them 😉) The boom has 2 areas for a pulley to be shackled to for lifting ect. However we never use it as it's often to slow and also don't lift heavier items anymore.
Hi just wondering why the rope is clipped around the pot ,is it to roll them out if they get snagged? PS love your tubes each one is getting better and more informative.👌
You are bang on the money! We call them break aways. So as you said, if the pot is snagged the break aways give us a chance of getting it back by twisting the pot and getting it unstuck.
