    Thanks for this test sir. I do agree that capture quality is important, and I respect the purists!! What are your recommendations of the El Gato vs the Magewell as far as latency? A friend of mine wants to do live streaming via youtube. Which one would be more reliable with Windows 10 and latency? He wants to send the feed from his video mixer into the capture device and able to see how youtube shows the monitoring in realtime. Sorry, we're not gamers, but I would imagine in the gaming industry latency is an important thing? We are comtemplating $300 for the Magewell USB 3.0 or the El Gato USB 3.0 variants. We are only concerned with latency. Thanks mate!

      I didn't notice much difference in latency between the two brands, since they operate over USB 3.0 it really comes down to the computer you are connecting to. As I mentioned in another comment, the Camlink (usually cheaper) is the way to go unless you need scaling capabilities. Good Luck!

    Hey man its 5 year old but i have a question can you recomended Magewell USB Capture HDMI 4K Plus or elgato h060x ?

    • @GeekGamerTV
      @GeekGamerTV  Рік тому

      It would depend on your application - but if you are looking to capture gameplay, I would go with the Elgato. It's cheaper and is more suited for the task. Good luck! :)

    48GB of memory? Its not that overkill. I'm planning probably 32GB if I go Ryzen 9. Or 64GB if I go Threadripper.

    • @GeekGamerTV

      Might of been overkill back then, but yeah, go as high as you can! :)

    because of the price of camlink over $300 these days on Amazon, what is considered better? Camlink or Magewell?

    • @GeekGamerTV
      @GeekGamerTV  4 роки тому

      The Camlinks are way over priced right now, probably because of a shortage.
      Camlink is good for 720p or 1080p capture, but it can't upscale or downscale if you need it.
      If you need up-scaling or down-scaling, then the Magewell is the way to go.

    So elgato camlink is a good capture in your opinion ? bc is very cheap in comparasion to elgato hd60 pro

      If you have good USB 3.0 bandwidth AND you are dealing with either 1080 or 720 content, then yeah it does a good job!👍

    3 years ago Ive bought two magewells to bring my dsrl to my i7 4 ghz, 16ram, ssd and gtx 1070. Both presented crappy image with ghosting image when connected to every video software possible. Im on win 7, but tried them on 3 other computers included macs and win10 with same crappy image. Magewell tech support ended saying it could ve a chipset incompatibility issue, but I can't see how this could happen on 4 separate systems at the same time. Any clue what could be wrong?

    What year is your Macbook pro? You installed it yourself? The Allegro PRO?

      Hey Darryl, I have a Mac Pro (2013 Late) tower (that I am using here in the video) with the capture devices.

    compare to other unknown brands at amazon about the usb 3.0 hdmi capture do you say the Elgato camlink will be better or the same?

    • @GeekGamerTV
      @GeekGamerTV  5 років тому

      That is a hard question to answer because I personally don't have experience with the other brands. That being said, I would be careful. Without knowing the chipset or components they are using, makes it hard to know how well they would perform over time.

    Do you know what has the lowest latency time for streaming a Zoom conference from an external camera (assuming the camera has a mic plugged directly into the camera)?

    • @GeekGamerTV
      @GeekGamerTV  3 роки тому

      I have had the lowest latency from Elgato HD 60 Pro Card. (PCI Card) - Followed by the USB Elgato Cam Link, but as they say, your mileage may vary depending on your system

    Hi using a blackmagic capture card can the system handle 4-8 camera inputs that goes into either obs or vmix?

    • @GeekGamerTV
      @GeekGamerTV  5 років тому

      The Intensity Pro can only handle 1 input. The new Decklink Quad can handle up to 4!

    How do you force upscaling or downscaling on the Magewell?

    • @GeekGamerTV
      @GeekGamerTV  6 років тому

      Once you have the device plugged into your system, you will need to go into the video output setting of the capture device. There, you can change the resolution as needed.

    • @MehmetSalihYILDIRIM
      @MehmetSalihYILDIRIM 6 років тому +2

      I've been using Elgato Camlink and HD60, but after seeing your video I went ahead and bought this card, and my CPU load went down from 80% to 40%. The downscaling option of this card made a huge difference in my stream quality, so thanks for pointing out that feature.
