Wow, pouched rats are very vocal and communicative!! I would have never had guessed that from a rodent species! But guinea pigs are rodents too, and they are also very clear communicators.
Cool video! Years ago my family lived in a big house in Eugene Oregon and at night there would be the sound of babies crying in the attic, but there were no babies up there. For many years my mother told people it was wood rats and they sounded just like infants. I’ve come to the conclusion that our house was haunted.
Thank you for this video! With your permission, I would like to use this audio in a class project (we'e been tasked with creating an "informational podcast" and I'd like to include a couple seconds of African Pouched Rat vocalizations in the intro. The podcast will not be published - it's strictly for class - and I would credit you in my works cited page and in the audio itself. If you have time to respond, let me know if that's okay!
ALLL HAIL THE KING OF RATS HIS BEAUTIFUL MUSIC HAS CHERISHED MY HEART
Almost like a mixture of bird sounds, a squeaky toy, a puppy, a lyrebird, and shoes tapping. Quite the combination
I could listen to them walk all day 💖
Excellent, nice coverage. Poppy certainly has a different "accent" but this really helps translate, thanks ;)
