If I remember the part about the spouse correct Schena's spouse was raising $$$ for FDA clinical trials. This is what medical testing companies need to do.
No doubt the US Gov't went through 1,000s of electronic documents but didn't find enough implicating the spouse. The spouse may have known or suspected something wasn't legal but I think fraud charges require proof of intent. I could not find any news about whether the spouse was a government witness or not.
I believe the SEC stuff was civil penalties, a few dollars (compared to the 69 to 77 million in Sxhena's crimminal cases) & a 3 year ban.

He seems to have "flown under the radar" because it was an unlisted stock and miniscule valuation compared to Thrranos. The investment bankers, venture capitalists, etc. have run out of ideas, so they take flyers on companies such as these .
It's unfortunate, but there is only do much Apple, Google etc stock they can buy when the companies are already overvalued

I disagree it is better to know what disease a baby has beforehand. My niece died last yr of a very rare genetic disease that turned a darling, vibrant, good-hearted girl into a bed-ridden awake "vegetable" whose every waking moment was hell. It was a blessing when she finally died. There are no drugs or therapies that can mitigate any part of the illness. The 1st symptoms showed up at age 17 & she died at 27. If everyone had known what was coming, what would that have done except make us neurotic messes awaiting the inevitable?

Crazy thing is, they used to just get away with it..."Roll it up, and split with the cash, leaving the investors holding their bags..." "i didn't mean it; I swear!" SEC should liquidate every penny to re-imburse investors...

I have very scientific method how to stop people from falling to those types. I would call it something like Sleezometer or Sleezer if it would be app. Lets say its app, it uses a camera and measures the level of sleeze the person radiates. This dude could be good benchmark. I mean i get it is very personal but this dude gives the vibes like "marriage cheater", you know the type that promises alot to chicks, promises bright and comfortable future while "borrowing" all their assets under various excuses.
