Amsoil has the best track record, every few years motor oils go through reformulation. Usually Amsoil is always top oil, other oils may edge close but then reformulation happens and it isn't the same anymore (for example current Pennzoil ultra is not the same durable one that was almost as good as Amsoil in those tests that you can find online). Besides motoroil, Amsoil PI has proven itself to actually work, with REDLINE SL-1 being the only other fuel system cleaner that also works. Their Brake cleaner is the only one that I know of that is Non VOC while still pack cleaning power (not like the Green CRC brake cleaner). The Severe Gear Differential oil is also very good. Their Oil filter is also one of the better built filters (i still use OEM). Despite wanting to believe that oil is oil, from frequenting car forums and seeing other owner's results...oil does matter. If its a beater car, put in your off the shelf oil and change it 3000-5000k miles. If its a motorsport car, you need something more beefy like Amsoil Signature, Redline high performance, Motul (300v)
I have the same engine in a 4 runner...they are famous for manifold cracks and also the manifold gaskets develop leaks which make it sound like a cracked manifold...Amsoil is good stuff, but Redline has a higher % of esters and it will clean the sludge off of the inside of the motor..Redline also has more film strength at higher temperatures...due to the higher % of esters. Have used both...Redline 2 to 1.
I run Amsoil in my 07' Tundra, 18' Vw Atlas, 17' Corolla im, 12' Triumph Thunderbird Storm, Craftsman w/Kohler 22hp riding mower, General pressure washer and a 10000 watt generator. Do I believe in Amsoil....Hell yeah! I use a ton of their other products too. Plus I ran it in previous vehicles too👍 I trust their independent scientific lab testing
I've ran Amsoil signature in my Tundra previously (5.7) and for the first couple thousand miles it's quiet as a mouse and then the engine clicks and rattles return. However it gets used like a truck and sees thousands of miles of towing a large part of the year. I don't blame it on the oil, I've run just about every brand out there, Toyota engines are just noisy in my experience. About the quietest one I've ever had is the 3.4 V6 in the wife's first gen Tacoma. What I've found that works best is sticking to 5000 to 7000 mile oil changes max. For some reason, Toyotas seem to respond poorly to extended drains in my experience. For that reason, I only did one change on the Ams signature and now alternate back and forth between Ams OE and XL or Mobil 1, Pennzoil or Castrol. Thinking about giving Valvoline a try next change for the heck of it, or perhaps, OEM Toyota oil. TLDR: The best oil is clean oil for your Toyota engine!
My '14 Sequoia makes the same noise! Not constantly though. Just every so often. First time I heard it, I was in a drive-thru at Tim Horton's. I thought it was a semi-truck parked near by making all that racket!
I just bought this oil for my Tundra. I'm a dealer so I get it cheaper :) Run their XL in my beater car and wifes Grand Cherokee. Took an oil sample after 10k miles and the numbers were still good.
I like AMSoil and use the products too. The only thing I hear on those clips is a bearing-sound, I think. Maybe there is a tensioner pulley bearing or one of the other pulleys to the serpentine belt that is making the sound? I am in the process of changing the coolant and all of the hoses and the clips on my Toyota. The tensioner pulley bearing was shot on my car. Maybe that’s why I tend to hear that noise everywhere 😅
$100 for oil!!?? I've been using Mobil 1 full synthetic high mileage in my Toyotas for years with no issues. $23 for 5 quart jugs at Wallyworld. $46 < $100
I been using mobil1 the 20000 guarantee . For long time used and once a year I do the oil change regardless if I get 5 10 20 k miles once a year oil change works for me sequoia 4Runner Sienna. . After pollen season is over it goes also with new cabin air filter the whole guacamole. Is the cheapest for the best . Also on my Sequoia I use 2 gasoline buster from dollar tree on every fill tank lots of powe is like having premium gasoline. Just get the cheapest gasoline and for two bucks more you got the power baby lol I hope it helps this tips. Just try it once and see the difference. Ho man big difference for sure.
Definitely the manifold exhaust leak Also Amsoil for sure with stock Toyota Filter just so different filters don't mess with stock oil flow. Project Farm did a scientific comparison check out his video!
I stick with Amsoil oil filters too. They are better than Toyotas original filters. Look at the Toyota TRD filter it looks just like an Amsoil filter. I am pretty sure it is made by Amsoil too.
If it's a cracked manifold the oil isn't going to change a thing. My Tundra had a cracked exhaust manifold and it would be noisy at start up but would get quiet as the manifold got hot.
Amsoil is the best oil, hands down; run it in my Lexus and dodge; amazingly, I don't believe it will fix that; however, it will be better for your SUV. If there is anything else I can answer about Amsoil, feel free to reach out
Amsoil is the goat. Use it in all vehicles (engine, trans, diffs, xfer case) Even run it in my mowers. Great company!

Yep seeing how black that oil was, you need to run red line a few time to clean the insides. Sounds like a good time for headers!
I use castrol edge for years on my Toyotas always have ran great!

You definitely stand by Amsoil.. Nice to hear.. i’m really liking there products.. 👍🏼
I use red line 5w30 and have been super happy with it so far.

I still don’t know if it’s a exhaust manifold crack/leak, or just valve noise.. i’d really
like to figure it out sometime..
I just bought this oil for my Tundra. I'm a dealer so I get it cheaper :)

Hooters! 🤣

I’m definitely going to check it out.. 👍🏼
Next oil change dump a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil. I have a 2000 Tundra and it sounds so good.

Mobil 1 is what I usually think of as “the best oil”.. and i’ll probably go back next change.. but just wanted to try something new.. 💸

Did you ever resolve this ticking ? Check to make sure your spark plugs aren't loose
i wish you would have told me this earlier.. it was absolutely the spark plugs.. tightened em up, and the noise went away.. 👍🏼
@@toyotafanatics1 😮
To get rid of that tick tale both catalist converters off and run duel pipes
Seems something with the timing. Are there tensioners in the crank case
It turned out to be a loose spark plug, and that sound was air getting by.. was time for new plugs anyways.. problem solved! 👍🏼
Definitely the manifold exhaust leak

I Think your correct!! 👍🏼

I’m thinking it’s the manifold.. it’s not very bad.. but i’m sure it’ll get worse..
I just picked up an 04 Sequoia with 210k miles last week and the last owner used 5w40. Would it be an issue if I went back to 5w30 ?
Absolutely fine to switch back to 5w30! 👍🏼
Put some lucas oil stabilizer to make it quiet and eliminate knocking
We definitely like Lucas products.. 👍🏼
Random question but are you a realtor by any chance?! Lol I think I spotted your truck
Interestingly i sold it to a realtor over in san jose.. how did it look?

eye LOVE your use of semicolons.
A lot better after that new oil though
put lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer in it
Its broken sell it to me
