when you first said a roll, my immediate thought was a series of an upper and lower gracenote. this is probably because my first wind instrument was the tinwhistle. What you call a roll, whistlers call a bend. Thank you for sharing your information with us.
Lots of inspiration here! I'm just learning so this is a lot to "play" with while recovering from a broken knee cap. Playing this little flute that my husband picked up at a rock and mineral show (on a whim) seems to help alleviate some of the pain :-)
