I'd like to get into making cutting boards. Maybe make a series of videos on how to make a basic board, then more difficult? Types of wood to use. What tools to use. Etc. I'd think you could do a 20-video series on just that information. :)
Nice Job but you might consider flattening the bottom side a bit for more control. I made a couple with square rod instead of round and I like the control they give me better than my round ones. If you catch just the left or right edge they throw the round rod tools a bit. But either beat spending the ridiculous amt some companies want for their carbide wood turning tools!
+Terry thanks! Yea when I saw the price at woodcraft for a carbide gouge my jaw about hit the floor. A flat bottom side would be useful on the square carbide. I use my round carbide 90% of the time though and being able to smoothly turn it and change the cutting angle is nice on roughing in finer curves.
That's a great video, I'm gonna try it myself. Thank you.
That was a great video!!! I really enjoyed it. Thanks for some details in the description.
+Scott Kershaw thanks for inspiring me to do the video! Any more ideas? 😜

Nice job! What did you make the ones out of 01 tool steel for? Why not just make them all one way or another?
+DigitalMask just trying different things. I also didn't have the equipment to put a proper curve in the steel for a typical roughing gouge.
Althoff Woodshop What curve would that be? I've not done much turning other than pens. lol
+DigitalMask like this www.ashleyilestoolstore.co.uk/images/H18.jpg
Oooh, gotcha. I tried envisioning something far different. Lol
Thanks for the responses
