It might also be because Leffen plays it, so that might've gotten some of his fans to even look at the game.
Except that one guy who thought Ky was Jin 😂
@@Yvs8962 close enough on that one, I’ll give it to him
@@Yvs8962 what do you mean, Jin clearly has classic moves like stun edge and ride the lightning. They even nicknamed his 6P to Electric Wind God Fist, referring all his other electric moves!
@@bassbusterx do you not play BlazBlue?
I’m gonna be real they got a lot more wrong than I was anticipating. And I wasn’t expecting a huge success to begin with.
Same! There where I think three or four I couldn't remember the name of. Blizzard (I had Primal Rage on Sega but didn't care for it) Night Wolf (I don't like MK but couldn't place his name) Byte Barq (Name issue) Zetter Burn I forgot his name which is fucked because I mained him, I love Rivals but I can't name the characters. If got Raiden (SNK) if I was there I would have been a smart ass and said "Big Bear" to get told wrong just so I could then rattle off the lore and the face vs heel personas
What they didn't show was how my friend won a CONTROLLER for getting MAGNETO! His luck is stupid.
That was hard to watch. I feel for the dude who saw Ky Kiske and answered "Jin Kisaragi".
At the very least, he did name a blonde haired swordsman from an Arcsys fighting game. Counts for something.
Ah yes, the Jin Ky mixup. Love to see it every time.
Smashers call Smash Bros a fighting game and then be like: "what's Tekken?" 🤔
how does the game's players not knowing anything makes the game less of what it is?
@@AIRFGC OP is talking about how Smasher categorize it, when they don't really know anything about the mainstays of the category itself.
@@outkast978 they know about Smash, been around 20 years, most selling fighting game of all time, how is that a mainstay?
How does Smashers not knowing anything about other FGs make Smash less of a FG?
@@AIRFGC we're not talking about smash, we're talking about the capacity to discuss the category of fighting games
@@outkast978 yeah my guy I just asked you about smashers, I'm not talking about smash either
they know Smash is a fighting game but don't know shit about Tekken
Tekken players know Tekken is a fighting game but don't know shit about Rivals of Aether
does that make Tekken players not accurate in their assessment that Tekken is a fighting game?
These smash players NEED TO PLAY DIFFERNT FIGHTING GAMES FAM. It hurt to see that so many people didn't know these characters.
So this must be the reason why some people don't consider smash a "fighting game" LOL
Frankly I don't blame the Smash fans when I look at the sales figures.
I just looked up the top 20 best-selling fighting games of all time, and every single one is either Smash, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, or Dragon Ball Z. I should also mention Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 5 are both on that list twice because of how well their ports sold (if you take the duplicates off, then Arms makes the 20th slot).
The other games like Guilty Gear, King of Fighters, BlazBlue, the Street Fighter Alpha subseries, Soul Calibur, Bloody Roar? Even the Persona spinoff games? They are nowhere to be found. In fact if my source is correct, not a single one of those franchises has a single game topping a million sales. The jury's still out on Guilty Gear Strive, but for all of its reputation as "the breakout Guilty Gear game" as of this writing it hasn't cracked one million.
So I really can't blame Smash fans. The fighting game community talks a big game of "oh Smash fans aren't real fighting game fans, they don't know any of our games", but I look at the game sales and of course they don't.
@@TARINunit9 it passed one million way before your comment, sorry lol
@@ArcaneSmash I'm sort of glad my source is out of date, but at the same time that just proves my point. For most fighting games it's a spectacular achievement to top 1 million sales. For Smash all of them have topped 5 million without breaking a sweat, and most of them have topped 10 million
@@TARINunit9 just because something sells doesn't mean it's good. Smash in this case is McDonald's while other fighting games are steak. So smashers can't get mad when we rightfully say they don't know anything about culinary cuisine as they only scarf McDonald's day in and out :p
@@gateofbabylon9177 I was hoping that Coney being a Smash player would mean we wouldn't have outright Smash haters in the comment section, but I guess that was just too much to hope for
"So I didn't actually learn anything."
Sometimes the most important lesson is realizing that not everything has a meaningful lesson.
It's nuts to me how so much of em don't recognize any of the SNK characters, but recognize the GG ones
GG is anime
I recognized Duck King Bryan Battler Geese Howard and Billy Kane
(Smash player)
gg has gotten pretty mainstream ever since bridget's reveal
I was nervous when the guy almost didn’t know raiden, then everything was okay after the guy got Raiden after naming all of his games. My favorite was when raiden was a character
No one got Raiden though
Which raiden you talking about? He did like 3 of em🤣🤣
@@pootie123 wow you’re right lol he totally should have made a joke about that
I like when the kid raised his hand up and cheered for raiden
I know maybe 20% of those characters. But it blew me away when Blizzard showed up. I wasn't expecting Primal Rage to make an appearance. (And he doesn't pee on the enemy. That's the other monke Chaos.)
Not even SNK knows who Brian Battler is.
13:20 Blizzard was in a coney saltybet video
SO WAS BILLY KANE!
"I don't play bad fighting games"
"Play strive"
lmao
I cried whenever someone couldn't get a street fighter character like, how do you not know DAN HIBIKI STRAIGHT AWAY???? ALSO DEE JAY?? LIKE SEAN I KINDA GET SINCE HE'S ONLY BEEN IN STREET FIGHTER 3 GAMES AS A PLAYABLE CHARACTER AND MAKOTO IS MISTAKEN FOR SAKURA BUT DAN AND DEE JAY-
They should do this on the level below, where they get random people to name smash bros characters
Coney would run out of prizes in the first 5 minutes if that were the case
You should DEFINITELY listen to Coney and Alpharad's podcast How Did We Get Here
They talked about how they filmed a video on the Santa Monica pier doing just that, with characters printed out on big slides. They put the characters in the best order to trip up regular people. Like all the obvious ones first, Mario, Sonic, Pac Man, then a bit obscure but really cute characters like, Pichu, Isabelle, but then cut straight to Kazuya Mishima. It sounded great but the audio was to fucked up to salvage.
One guy even asked what Pyra and Mythra's names were, because "He seen them in the hentai and I'd like to search them up to see more."
If going by Smash Bros. specifically then it would be mostly the original bosses since the playable characters are from other games with the exception of the Mii Fighters so it'd be pretty challenging for sure. If all characters are included and the people have like no gaming knowledge then they're doomed lmao.
Bro when that man fr said he'd give the smashy for naming my boy Billy Kane made me wanna cry that I wasn't there.
Honestly Coney… you should have all the smash players at Panda take this quiz and see how well they do
ngl, I'd expect an ESAM win on that one. Managed to catch him on the floor EVO 2019 scoping out sets of SamSho.
Honestly, some of the people in this queue, even if they lack gaming knowledge, are great at improvised comedy.
The armor king mix up. Get's them everytime. Kinda sad that someone got Billy freaking Kane before most MK characters
And I thought MK was supposed to be more popular in the west. That was such ashamed.
Coney vacation gang roll up
Background furry is my favorite fighting game character
Same
Dude says “I play good fighting games” then proceeds to say “play Strive”
Strive is awesome
No it isn't
The thing with Ky being called Jin hurts a lot when they are nothing alike and nobody knowing who Makoto and Sean are lol.
Ah, c'mon. Jin and Ky are PRETTY similar.
I'm at least willing to excuse mistaking Ky for Jin. And calling Makoto Sakura is an understandable mistake. Still, there's a lot here that is embarassing.
i knew makoto by name and i saw sean and his name before but forgot
I can tell the first few people were definitely joking lmao
Also surprising how GG basically got all of the guesses right, which is weird since nobody barley even knew GG until Strive
Should have included GG characters who haven't made it to Strive yet, see if they can identify Venom or Slayer
All the GG characters were easy tho
They probably wouldn't have got Nagoryuki or Testament
I’m not surprised nobody knew who the characters were but I’m even less surprised that nobody there was funny
Smash players be like: "This is Ryu, from Streets."
This was easily one of the worst things that I have ever seen and this put me through so much pain

Smashers Try To Be Funny challenge
to be fair its really hard to be witty on the spot in front of a crowd which is why improv is so impressive
@@orb3796 to be fair nobody was asking them to be funny
@@Rislear not explicitly, but implicitly. You also would've tried to seem cool and funny knowing you'll be in a youtube video, otherwise you'll just be edited out.
I was shocked by the amount of people who didn’t know MK characters
"I play GOOD fighting games" had me dying. I 100% agree with that guy, but I still recognized all those characters, they're iconic even if MK has always played like ass.
Well a lot of these guys most likely only play on Nintendo platforms, which MK has never really had a great relationship with.
@@BronzeAgePepper the Midway MK games yeah, but the NRS era MK games have made a much more conscious effort to be competitive, and have a more in-depth practice mode than many Japanese-developed FGs actually.
Besides, I don’t think the guy that said that was being entirely serious/objective considering how many Smash players primarily got into Smash because ‘it has all muh favorite childhood Nintendo characters ^.^’, rather than it’s mechanics.
* at smash con *
"Idk who that is I only play good fighting game"
Shoutouts to that random furry in line
That is the whitest Dee Jay art I've ever seen. Looks almost nothing like his SF4 interpretation.
i thought the jin guy was doing a bit 😭
its funny how he added chop chop master onion when he's not even a fighting game character he's from parapper the rapper
So glad that guy got Billy Kane, but damn. Smash kids genuinely don't know anything but smash.
15:03 I can’t believe they put the 44th president of the United States of America in mortal kombat
11:33 i really let y'all down. i figured from process of elimination of the tekken characters i recognized that it was steve, but coney said 'name two smash characters' and i folded in half trying to think of his last name. i'm sorry guys. this shit hurt LOL
Dude you better than those who answer Mario and random unfunny names.
I've never been so upset at a video in a while. Well done Coney.
Smashers don't know anything about any game that isn't Smash lmao
Smashers don't know anything about the games in Smash either.
Smashers don’t know anything
Smashers don't know
Honestly, most wholesome roast. I don't know how I got here, I do love fighting games, and yeah, the youth doesn't care about old stuff, it's fine! The stuff is still good. Way to keep the attitude positive with this even if the dunk tank got full; subbed n cheers
Man's sold him a cup o' noodle for a dollar on his birthday 😂😂
I'm so mad, cause I know who like 80% of these were, but I got hit with fucking DUCK KING???
thank god to coney for making this video so i can feel better about myself for knowing who chop chop master onion is, a content king
I had no idea what his name was. The only thing I could come up with was "the onion guy from PaRappa the Rapper"
The moment you've shown Raiden no. 1 i thought "there's gonna be 3"
This is exactly how I felt it would go. I was actually getting second hand embarrassment the farther along it went lol.
Will there be like a part 2? There seemed to be more, or maybe there were just a lot more prizes than characters left
There is not more of the same challenge but he did do a different game with the same remaining pool of prizes. He livestreamed it on his Twitch if you want to see that
lol as someone who loves fighting games and knew about 95% of these, I love this content.
Funny on how the prouncation of "Raiden" can be depending who it is.
Raiden (pronounced "Ray-den") is one of the main characters of the Mortal Kombat series and Raiden (pronounced Rai-den) if one of the main characters of the Metal Gear series
Roflfox showing up in this gives such a funny case of whip-lash, love that guy
Raiden can either be an obese wrestler, the god of lightning, or a dude in metal armour that likes to slash things.
Damn I was hoping my Faust cosplay got caught on camera haha. Great video Coney this was hilarious
Wow, GG and smash really do have overlapping communities, interesting to say the least (also props to the lads who knew snk characters you guys are cool)
I couldn't believe that was Dee Jay. Why'd he use the one official art of Dee Jay where he looks caucasian? 🤣
That guy didn’t knew about bridget before evo 🤣🤣🤣
I was not expecting the person in the fursuit but they made the video even better
I absolutely love how this started as a fun game show and slowly devolved into a back-alley noodle store
it's alright smash players, I don't play fighting games and I couldn't name a single one
13:09 the genuine fear when you said "He's moving"
