    • @michael1
      @michael1 2 місяці тому

      It doesn't harm that it's Indonesian made cheap junk. Most of the good signatures are £2k-3k or more. Seems fairly obvious which AZ the average teenager wannabee is going to get - it won't be the prestige models (if they're even lucky enough to afford that)
      Yet, at the same time - these are bad value for money, paying nearly £1500 for an indonesian guitar is dumb. Get a prestige for not much more.
      Problem is, of course, Tim doesn't get an indonesian one with all the QC issues - so it's not really a signature guitar in that sense. If you want a guitar like Tim's and have the money, get a prestige model and add his pickups.

    I wish it had more color options. That's a personal thing though. I'm not buying the hype behind the pickups, as far as I'm concerned, all Fishmans and EMGs sound exactly the same. Thanks, maximum gain! I'm also not a big fan of having to keep track of batteries, so the active pickups made it a no-go for me from the start. My gaming stuff and pedals are enough in that regard haha

    • @bristol1312
      @bristol1312 Рік тому

      It’s all UA-cam influencer hype. Tried the prophecy and just didn’t like the fishmans with my hizumitas fuzz pedal the same as with passive pickups. I don’t like emgs and I don’t like the fishmans either. To be honest the battery’s do last a while in the emgs I just don’t like the sound.

    I've never understood the hype around buying signature guitars. To me the fun has always been about picking a guitar that feels and looks good, then swapping out the pickups and parts until I find the perfect sound that fits me. Playing a signature model just feels like wearing someone else's clothes.

      Why buy new when there's plenty of used deals?
      Why even buy a complete used guitar, when you can build your own parts guitar?
      I bought one of the most beautiful guitars ever, a blue cameleon GRG121SP (at discounted price, brand new), replaced the neck with an indo RG neck and it's one the of the best guitars I have, yes, better than a brand new RG550PN, and even better looking! 😂😂😂

    • @loneponderer495
      @loneponderer495 Рік тому +2

      @JohnWiku I've done that myself. Not to mention, I have bought a few demo products from Sweetwater. Great way to save some money by going with something with minor flaws that don't affect playability.
      It all depends on what you want and what's available and, of course, what's within your current abilities to do. Not just do you know how to do it, but do you have access to the necessary equipment to make a mod or whatever it is your after.

      Bro played a song on a guitar?! IMPOSSIBLE! Literally does not matter which song is played on which guitar. Guitars themselves are pieces of art, of course. By form. But by function, they're tools for artistic expression. All you do with your thought-pattern of "yo, why you play this song on a guitar, that doesn't look like it" is limit your creativity. Stop that, for your own sake.

    A lot of polyphia listener are guitarist. That's what set them apart from mainstream artist, and that is why Ibanez are keen to do business with them is because they have large guitarist fanbase.
    Who is the market for this kind of guitar? Guitarist.
    Casual listener from mainstream artist won't be buying this thing. No matter how big their fanbase is.

    Why does ebony fingerboard look like rosewood these days? Or am I tripping? I had a Jim Root Tele, which I purchased around 2010, and the fingerboard was pure black and shiny, but these days, ebony fingerboard is more brownish.

    • @charlesbolton8471
      @charlesbolton8471 11 місяців тому

      You are exactly right, and I can explain why it happened.
      Historically, guitar companies like Gibson and Martin only bought the darkest ebony available. Then at some point (I’m not really sure when) companies started buying lighter colored ebony to save money, but in order to keep the traditional dark look they would dye it to more uniform and darker color. I’m sure some companies still do that.
      It’s interesting that your Jim Root Tele is a 2010, because a significant change took place in the guitar industry involving ebony in 2011. That year Bob Taylor (Taylor Guitars) became involved in the Ebony Project which seeks to preserve and increase sustainability of ebony in Africa. Bob Taylor saw first hand how much ebony was being rejected by the guitar industry because it wasn’t “dark enough” or it was “streaked” and therefore not desirable. So in an effort to decrease the waste Taylor experimented with using ebony that would have otherwise been rejected by the guitar industry. Enough people liked it (or were at least okay it) that it caught on, and other brands started doing it, too.
      Personally, I’m not a fan of dark fretboard wood at all even on acoustics (although it’s practically impossible to find acoustics with maple or other light colored fretboards). That being said, I love ebony fretboards with the lighter colored streaks in them.

    They're the 2020s version of 80s shred artists. Incredibly talented musicians, that cant be argued. But like with most shred I listen to a song or two and then change it to something else. Just gets boring pretty quick. Ive played guitar for nearly 20 years now(pretty much only metal), so I understand the complexity of what they're doing but there is next to no heart or feeling in it.
