I live in Canada and Toy r us never disappeared. I always considered it an American company and found it strange it was here but not in USA. I also drive by the Toys r us distribution warehouse frequently and it is busy seems very active. Keep up the great videos Jordan! Relatively new to your channel. Good to see it back in USA!
Jordan, I have been to the Mall of America back in the 90's. I was so amazed that it was such a huge mall. Jordan do they still have the aquarium and the Rain Forest Cafe? I am so happy you vlogged this! Thank you sooo much.
After watching this I jumped on google. Happy to say they are returning to Australia next year apparently. We closed 44 stores after the collapse of the American stores.🤷♀️ Have a great day everyone. Jodie, Wollongong Australia 🇦🇺
There also used to be K-B Toy Stores in every mall. The stores were smaller than Toys r Us, but they had very high ceilings and were packed with games up to the ceilings. I loved these places.
toy stores were nothing but play rooms for me. they were that rare time I got to play with toys I wish I had but didn’t have the money or size for. those huge multi part play sets are an example.
I miss malls and their stores in general. I like the idea of just walking up to the item, picking it up to check its quality and feel, before I buy it. I get annoyed having to return things because they were broken, hap hazardly packed and shipped, but also could be stolen off your property. Other issues are that items are not genuine or are missing pieces and damaged. It's a lot easier to check at a store before you buy something. I also miss malls around Christmas time. Use to seem so magical.
I've been saying this for years. I'm 40 and I literally tear up everytime I see an old toys r us commercial. You can't replace going into the store, touching and seeing toys in person. It's not the same as buying stuff online. Not to mention my parents bought my NES games there and I always played the super nintendo kiosk with Super Mario World in it everytime I went there. So many fond memories. The store local to me that was a toys r us from the early 80s until 4 years ago is now a carpet mart....😢
I use to love taking my kids to toys r us, but they closed down here in Australia after the collapse of the American stores. Now it’s back in America I just googled it, and yes 2024 is seeing a return here also. 😁 Thanks Jordan. ❤️Jodie 🇦🇺
@bobbyb9907 when I googled it, all I could find was the chain will be returning in 2024. I just tried again, and so far all I can find is a massive store has been built or is being built in Clayton Victoria, where their online warehouse and headquarters are. Apparently the store spans over 3000sqm and kids can play and interact with the toys as well. It’s different to the old stores. I can’t find any others yet. I live in Wollongong 1 hr 20 minutes south of Sydney so I’m not familiar with Clayton, VIC but it did say it was returning to Australia. Hope this helps. 😃
I worked at Toys R Us for 24 years and I was sad to see it close, I remember the crazy hours during the season. I made a lot of children happy on Christmas day with that special toy.
I miss Toys R Us! I live in Southern California where I grew up with it and the same for my kids. It’s so nice it’s still around. Thank you for sharing this video. Very cool. ♥️👍😎
Let's just hope TRU gets it right this time and doesn't try to charge more than their competitors!!! That's what got them in trouble last time!!! Ty for sharing...
They also made a crap storm of really bad financial decisions that lead to their demise and completely turned a blind eye to the massive shift to e-commerce. The writing was on the wall for a long time. They didn't have the right leadership at that time to turn things around. Hopefully the corporation that owns them now will do it right this time. No one is nostalgic for buying toys for their kids and grandkids on Amazon, etc. I think that's what they need to focus on, and of course competitive pricing.
Toys R Us reminds me of my wonderful childhood! My older brother got a Christmas part time job at the local Toys R Us and that was one of our best memories- the employee discount was great for my parents who splurged on us kids that year. The tall shelves and smells still make me happy. Wonderful place- so glad it's back! Happy Thanksgiving Jordan and have a wonderful holiday season. You brought me back to a happy time and I needed that now! ☺️😊❤️🥰🌴🦩☀️❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰
My grown kids ages 35 and 37 were both so sad when toysrus closed. I hope they start opening up here in Virginia again. It was a real treat for my kids when we would go.
The old toys r us was a cross between a toy store, Party City, a baby store, Game stop, Hot Topic, Academy Sports and an arcade. It’s cool now but it doesn’t have the feel of the original.
My earliest vivid memories of Toys"R"Us is during The Empire Strikes Back release. The toys were stacked from floor to ceiling - aisles of these incredible boxes with huge toys. My family struggled, but my parents always made sure we had a mini toy store in that living room on Christmas day. It was magic! There's video on this platform of news crews grabbing hours of content at Toys R Us in the 70s, 80s, & 90s. It is special to revisit, the nostalgia! Transformers, M.A.S.K., GI Joe, Srar Wars of course. The board games my older sisters and I would play. Their smartest marketing - I don't wanna grow up - was exactly how they made you feel.
Guess I have to take a trip to The Mall of America. I remember going with my mom at the age of 18 to get crayons and coloring books for us to color because we were bored. I miss Toys R Us. My favorite wrestler was The Undertaker. That was way back in the day....lol
The first time I've went to Toys R Us(The new one) was American Dream Mall in NJ and tbh it's not actually a come back it just another version of TRU because the one in Canada has completely everything like from toys games bikes electronics game consoles etc... but the new one here in the US is different than the original one like back in the days. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
Pretty cool, it does remind me alot of the Toys r Us stores growing up. I'm 2 years older than you so we pretty much grew up with the same stuff and me being from Louisville we had 3 Toys R US and a couple KB Toys, Children's Palace and a few smaller toy stores but nothing could ever compare to Toys R US. It was where we went for our birthday shopping trip or for a reward for passing each grade in school and so on. The only 2 areas I didn't see in this store that I used to love in the old ones was the section with all the Power wheels, bikes and other ride on stuff and then ofcourse the amazing video game section. Toys R US always had the games and other things you couldn't find anywhere else and I think that's alot of what made it so great. Brings back some amazing memories for sure.
I worked at one building bicycles. It was a pretty good job. Bought lots of Star Wars toys with my employee discount. Still have a giant At-At that is still in its shipping box from 2012. I hope that this one stays open and more will open across the country.
Thanks for this video! Memories of toy shopping for my kids! In Michigan we had Kay Bee Toys too! Miss both stores! They are only there for the holidays in some Malls. Toys used to be great!
Thanks for sharing. Toy stores were where kids could go and drool over all the new stuff. It was really an escape for most kids. Great to see they are bringing them back.
While it is exciting to see this, I hope it is not the final version they go with on future openings. Your neighborhood old school Toys R Us that closed in 2018 were way bigger stores and had twice the inventory and selection seen here.

Our local Toys R Us closed down about 5 years ago, very sad, now they only use the building for a Halloween store. Really hope another re opens around us in South Eastern Massachusetts somewhere or in the same building as before one day?
YES!!! BRING BACK BRICK AND MORTAR STORES AND BAN ONLINE SHOPPING! Make people get off their asses again! I used to love going to toys r us as a kid. My mom worked 2 jobs during the holiday season when she could and i remember her taking me there telling me none of the toys were for me. But would ask what should she get for my brother and sisters. 😂😂 Mainly would only ask me when it was for my "brother". I miss my mom. I took my daughter to toys r us a few times when she was very young, but soon after they closed all the stores.

You just bought back a world of memories shopping for my own life and grandkids.. thanks for sharing my friend happy holidays and safe travels! GOD Bless 🙏
For a time my parents took us siblings to toys r us at the end of every month, if our grades were in check. We used to eagerly wait the end of every month and be ready before pops got home from work on that day, then all get in the car and our eyes would be wide open as we approached and parked outside the store. Such simple pleasures we had as kids. God bless all parents and children with moments like these.
Hi Cory, reading your comment brought back wonderful memories. My son, who is 34 loved wrestling, and I was always buying him wrestling figurines when he was a kid. He moved out 14 yrs ago and didn’t take the wrestlers or the WWF bag with him. Of course I have kept them all, I just can’t part with them. I think we are living in the "I don't wanna grow up. I'm a Toys R' US kid" era because we're still buying toys, but as adults 😂. Amirite? Lol We still haven't put our toys away.
Thank you for sharing thei iinner child of Jodan the Lion..... did you leave any toys for the other kids Jordan? We loved seeing your inner child.... have fun~ and thanks fo sharing. 🦒🦒
as much as they put these lil Toy's R Us stores in malls they will never compare to walking into a full size store when isles were dedicated to the brand or genre stacked of inventory filling the whole isle those were great times
Happy Thanksgiving! I have never been to the Mall of America! I am so glad Toys R Us is open there! I was sad when they closed here in CT. The one I used to go to is now part of Hartford Healthcare. I love that you were so excited to see what the had there, you made it fun!
You may have gone the same day that me and my adult daughter went there. We were wondering if that big Funko thing was for taking pictures of someone in it or not. It looked pretty flimsy for having people walk in and out of it. I think we tried to use a pricing station and it didn't work. We didn't want to buy anything anyways, just testing things out. The store that used to be there wasn't much different other than the layout. I believe that ramp at 10:52 was there in the old store. We didn't go in it a lot, and the back half of the store was blocked off and probably not one other customer walked in while we looked at everything. Sometimes the cashier just kept talking to who I suspect was her boyfriend and didn't acknowledged us being there at all. So, I suspect that the same management runs it, but thought taking on the Toys R Us name would bring it new life.
Where's the video game department? Toys R us always had a great selection of video games and demo kiosks to play. They were the #1 retailer for Nintendo games at one time.
I used to love the Toys R Us commercials when I was a child. I begged my mom for a cabbage patch doll. I think I played with that thing for a few months. 😂
Im glad Toys R Us is making a comeback! But I feel they missed the mark with not having any video games. I remember them having the best selection and exclusives vs any other store besides FuncoLand.
Glad to see Toys R Us back..Tell me this gives you Jingle All The Way vibes being at Mall of America during the holidays. I definitely hope you do the filming locations of that movie one day
Love this! I remember Children's Palace over by the Salem Mall in Trotwood. It was a precursor to Toy R Us. Instead of Geffory the mascot was a panda bear.
Smyths toys is now a big toy shop in the UK after Toy R Us closed, Argos used to be one of the big sellers too but has dwindled a bit since on line shopping became popular.
This surprises me, but hopefully it’ll be back in business around the nation. One Toys R Us store, that I didn’t know about, became a huge liquor store.
I live in Canada and Toy r us never disappeared. I always considered it an American company and found it strange it was here but not in USA. K-B seemed more electronics oriented. Toys R Us was a great place to try out bikes, scooters, sporting goods and stuff shown in this video
Loved KB toys. So many good late 1990s memories buying N64 games and most importantly my first Game Boy and Pokemon Blue and Yellow versions.
I remember KB I also remember play world toy store
I'm 47 but still remember trips to Toys R' Us. My Pop would give us like $20 and set us loose. Back then $20 got you a nice haul.

Thats what I'm afraid of for the new "flagship" stores.. if it's not a huge building with metal shelves it just wont feel the same

Happy Thanksgiving! I have never been to the Mall of America! I am so glad Toys R Us is open there! I was sad when they closed here in CT. The one I used to go to is now part of Hartford Healthcare. I love that you were so excited to see what the had there, you made it fun!
Such a great place! Happy Thanksgiving Jordan! You are always working!
Happy Thanksgiving. Wishing you the best.😊
I used to love the Toys R Us commercials when I was a child. I begged my mom for a cabbage patch doll. I think I played with that thing for a few months. 😂
Toys R Us near me is inside Macy’s and only a few aisles. I miss the stand alone stores. Great video Jordan!
Hey Jordan, I'm older than you and I had the Snoopy Snow Cone machine too
Im glad Toys R Us is making a comeback! But I feel they missed the mark with not having any video games. I remember them having the best selection and exclusives vs any other store besides FuncoLand.
local for me here in Gainesville Fl was TOYS R US and KB toy stores..thar one was in our mall millions of years ago it seems now.
I loved that children's palace also.. they were side by side.. we used to go to both
@@DazewithJordantheLionHAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOUR PRECIOUS LITTLE PUP FROM YOUR FANS IN OREGON

So close. But still missing the video game section with the demo kiosks lol.
Lol was lookin for this comment
@mrroachclip8444 but seriously think how many more people a N64 kiosk would bring in, right? 😆
@@memoriesbywayne alot of people for sure like the good ol days
I’m glad they are back in business I remember them being so business all year round. 😊
