Sharks at Minerva Reef, shortest dive ever

  • A promising dive at the Minerva Reef ends abruptly due to aggressive sharks. After they started to nibble on our finns, we dicided to escape into the dinghy.

    Did a night dive at South Minerva and shot a lobster that didn't like being stuck with a spear (sorry this was food gathering). Turned the dive light towards the center of the reef to see a shark heading straight towards the screaming lobster ( and me). Luckily it did a 90 degree turn when the light hit it and I was able to scramble up into the dinghy. Being bitten by a shark 250 miles from the nearest land would not have been good.

      Yes, that's not what one could wish! In general we always feld good vibes when diving with sharks, but that time at the minerva reef they became just too curious biting into our fins and since it was hundereds of them, we were clearly outnumbered...
