Firstly, there's no law that bans Hijab. And if some people say, "Keep your religion outside educational institutions" over this issue, it must apply to all, like the Tilak, the chain carrying the cross, the Turban and many more sacred add-ons. It's impossible to remove this, as it has become more of an identity to that religion. Until the people following that particular religion oppose this, just like the triple talaq rule, it's better not to involve in this. It's sad that students who should be more worried about their placements and higher studies are dragged into this mess.
Edit : People in the replies, either read just the first line or came here to spread hate. One of the valid points was Uniform civil code, which I appreciate was well debated on. My point is, why are students involved in this protest (from the opposite side)? It was just these girls vs Institution/Ministry's orders.
It breaks my heart to see a bunch of people charging at a girl and shouting their religious proclamation and then the girl shouting back her's. This would lead to a chain reaction of hate and chaos. This ultimately add fuel to the existing tensions between two religions.

Sikh Turban/Patka is allowed (even in army) but Muslim Hijab is banned.
      This is because:
Sikhs are turban wearing Hindus in denial. They celebrate all Hindu holidays Rakhi, Holi, Diwali. Worship Hindu idols. Don’t eat beef. And marry Hindus
Sikhs even have have caste system. Dalits Sikhs (Mazhabi Sikhs) are brutally discriminated against by higher caste Jatt Sikhs. Dalit Sikhs are not even allowed to enter some Gurudwaras through the same door as upper caste Jatt Sikhs.

There's a difference between Pagdi and hijab and the reason they are imposed. You are too gullible to understand that. I'll explain you. According to Qur'an education is prohibited once the girl reaches puberty. A Sikh wear pagdi because it represents equality, honour, self-respect, courage, spirituality, and piety. Whereas,
I'll quote " With respect to the Sunnah, it is authentically reported that the Prophet (SAS) said, ‘when a woman reaches puberty, no part of her body should remain uncovered except the face and the hand up to the wrist joint’. (Mishkaat). It is narrated that once Asma, the sister of Aisha (RA) came before the Prophet (SAS) in a thin dress which revealed her body. The Prophet (SAS) turned his eyes away and said,
Oh Asma! When a woman reaches puberty, it is not lawful that any part of her body be seen, except this and this, and then pointed to his face and the palms of his hands’. (Mishkaat)."

Every community has it's own customs. Muslim women have been wearing hijab for centuries and it is a part of their religion and their customs. They can't leave it.
For example if you ask white women to leave wearing skirts, will they ?
