Victoria’s children weren’t any more miserable and unhappy than their contemporary children. Arranged marriage was the norm both among royalty and the average people. Children were in general treated as property, they were considered a nuisance, pregnancies were dangerous for women therefore there was always some kind of resentment towards children who often became the cause of death or serious health issues for their mothers. At least, Victoria’s children lived in luxury, didn’t go hungry, and didn’t have to do hard labour to earn a penny.
